Chapter—The Shadow of the Shepherd
The Great Hall of the Global Council felt like the inside of a pressure cooker. The air, thick with the scent of ozone and the weight of seven global powers, seemed to vibrate with **Auron's** ultimatum. He stood before the two leaders of the world—the people who had forged him, taught him, and ultimately, hidden him.
"Let's bring the truth to light," Auron whispered, his indigo aura casting long, flickering shadows against the mahogany walls. "Who is the Devino? Who is the one trusted by all, yet hiding in our very shadow?"
**Kaizen** erupted. His authoritative voice, usually a source of comfort for the masses, was now a jagged roar of indignation.
"You are out of your mind, Auron! You've gone crazy because you failed to save those six in the cave! Your grief has turned into paranoia!"
Auron didn't flinch.
"Is that the problem, Kaizen? Or is it that you're afraid of the light? I only want to use Aura Purification on the two of you. Evelyn... do you agree?"
**Evelyn** stood silent for a heartbeat. Her eyes were pools of profound sadness. She looked at Auron—not as the Unique Auramaster, but as the boy she had mentored. She saw the absolute, terrifying confidence in his stance. If he was wrong, the Council was dead. If he was right, the world was already lost.
"I agree," she said softly. "If it brings you peace, Auron, scan me."
"No!" Kaizen stepped forward, his hand gripping thightly "You will not do this! We are the heads of this Council! You cannot act above our permission. This is an insult to the order we've built!"
The hall went silent. Every Auramaster present—Mizu, Zoya, the others—stared at Kaizen. Even the junior guards at the door felt the shift. It wasn't the refusal that bothered them; it was the *panic* behind it. Evelyn turned her gaze toward her partner, her brow furrowed.
"Let him do it, Kaizen," Evelyn said, her voice turning firm. "If we have nothing to hide, we have nothing to fear."
Auron raised his hand. The silver light of **Aura Purification** swirled like a miniature galaxy around his fingers. He pressed the energy into Evelyn's spirit. The light was pure, returning to him without a single speck of soot. Evelyn was clean.
Now, every eye in the room—including Evelyn's—shifted to Kaizen. The silence was deafening.
"Your turn, Kaizen," Auron said.
"No," Kaizen hissed, his face contorting. "I am the Head of the Council! You have no authority to scan your superior!"
"Who made you the head?" Auron asked, a cold smile forming behind his mask. "The people? Or the Devil?"
"I became the head through my own ability!" Kaizen shouted.
Evelyn slowly stepped away from him, her hand moving toward her own aura-focus. The realization was spreading through the hall like a virus. The man standing at the center of the world was trembling.
"I think everyone already doubts you, Kaizen," Auron said. "You aren't the man I once called my brother. Get ready."
Auron lunged, his hand glowing with the purification light. As his soul made the mandatory connection to Kaizen's, a violent, high-pitched **SNAP** echoed through the hall. The purification light didn't just fail; it shattered into black shards.
Kaizen's head dropped. His shoulders began to shake. Then, a laugh erupted from him—a sound that wasn't human. It was the sound of grinding stones and screaming wind.
"Yes..." the entity inside Kaizen whispered, looking up with a face that was no longer his. "I am the **Devino**."
The moment the confession left the Devil's lips, a violent resonance shook Auron's mind. Kpru voice—booming and ancient—echoed in his skull:
AURAMASTER AURON CONTRACT ENDED.
A massive surge of blue-black light struck Auron from within. When the light faded, the "Hero" was gone. In his place stood a figure in **dull black aura**. His visor, once a brilliant blue, had turned a predatory, blood-red. His staff's crystal marble was now a void of obsidian.
A thick, black aura, like oily smoke, began to pour from his body.
"Auron?" Evelyn whispered, her voice trembling. "Are you alright?"
Auron turned his red gaze toward her. The sheer, concentrated malice in his eyes made her blood run cold. He didn't answer. He struck his staff against the floor, and a massive **Aura Pulse** erupted, instantly weakening every person in the room.
"Finally," Auron's voice said, sounding like it was coming from the bottom of a well. "I've waited five months for this moment. If you thought you were an expert at hiding, Devino... you were wrong."
The Devil in Kaizen's body stopped laughing.
"What are you talking about?"
"I knew," Auron hissed. "I knew the moment you took him."
Flashback: The Door of Deception
Five months ago. Luke, still ,had gone to Kaizen's office after the leader's great speech to save Auron. As he reached for the doorknob, his "Unique" senses had flared—a feeling of cold, rotting wood.
He had opened the door just a crack, peeking in. He saw Kaizen standing at the window, but behind him stood a shadow—the Devino.
"So you're the one the book was written about," the Kaizen had whispered to Devil.
"I'll burn that book," Kaizen had countered, his hand trembling as he reached for a lighter. "It shouldn't exist. It teaches that there is a devil inside everyone."
"But you agree with it," Devino smiled. "That's why your finger won't move. You appreciate my masterpiece."
"My foot!" Kaizen roared, but his hand was frozen. He looked down and saw his feet and the Devil's feet were joined, shadows merging.
"What are you doing to me?"
"I am taking over,You have readed ny book and also agree with some point of it " Devino said. "By reading my book. You invited me in with your interest.
Kaizen was terrified for seconds, but he realized, he have no way from getting over it. He smiled.
Devil seeing him laugh and ask ,"What make you smile, because you think I am right.:
Kaizen siad ,"No but I am sure by reading this book , I Have surely killed a devil like you. Now you are possessing me. But in future you will be killed by my brother Auron.
Devil laughed and said,"That sounds interesting first I thought I will take over you and put your soul in deep slumber but now you will watch everything but cant act."
Luke, watching from the door, had fled to the washroom, his heart screaming. *I lost him,* he thought. *My most trusted brother is a vessel. How can I face a 98% death rate if I can't even trust my most trusted person as Auron.*
Auru tried to calm Luke but fail.
He had collapsed in the floor, his emotions spiraling out of control. That was when **Koru** appeared.
"I can help you, Luke," the dark spirit had said. "Let's make a contract. I will hold your negative emotions, your fear, and your knowledge of this betrayal. I will lock it away so you can become stronger."
Auru siad ," don't fo it it just its positive side you dit. Kniw about his negative side.".
Luke asked"What's the catch?"
"You will forget," Koru said. "You will forget that Kaizen is possessed. You will see him as your hero again. "
"I have no choice," Luke had whispered. "Seal it."
Back in the Great Hall, Auron's red eyes burned with the fire of five months of suppressed rage. The contract was over. The memory was back. He knew exactly what he was fighting.
"I didn't forget because I was weak," Auron growled, his black aura suffocating the room. "I forgot so I could grow strong enough to kill you without my heart breaking."
The Devino-Kaizen smirked, though he stepped back.
"Let's see who wins then, 'Unique' heir. I gave your brother a chance to watch his own destruction. I'll give you the same."
Auron raised his obsidian staff.
"You aren't winning anything today."
The war for the Council—and the soul of a brother—had finally, truly begun.
