Chapter—The Shattered Mirror and the April Requiem
The Great Hall of the Global Council, once a cathedral of order and light, had been transformed into a theater of viscera darkness. The air hung thick with the scent of ozone and the oily, suffocating smoke of **Auron's** black aura. The silver-indigo armor that had defined him as a hero was gone, replaced by the obsidian-dark plating of a man whose memories had finally returned from the abyss.
**Devino**, wearing **Kaizen's** face like a twisted mask, let out a cackling laugh that vibrated with the sound of grinding stones.
"So, the 'Unique' heir finally remembers," Devino sneered, his golden-amber eyes—Kaizen's eyes—now swirling with a sickly, red malice. "You made a contract to forget your brother's betrayal, yet here you are. I haven't seen such pathetic nonsense in all my centuries of life. You chose to be a fool rather than a victim."
Auron stood motionless, his red visor glowing like a dying star in the center of the dark hall. His staff, now a void-black rod tipped with an obsidian marble, hummed with a low-frequency growl.
"Yes," Auron's voice was a jagged rasp, stripped of its youthful warmth. "I made the contract. I chose to forget so I could grow strong enough to face this day without my heart breaking. But the deal is over. I won't leave you alive. I will kill you where you stand."
Devino threw his head back, his laughter echoing against the vaulted ceiling. "Kill me? Oh, please, do try! But remember, boy—to kill the tenant, you must burn down the house. Every blow you strike at my heart strikes Kaizen's. If I die, your precious 'brother' dies with me. Are you ready to be a fratricide?"
Auron didn't hesitate. He slammed his staff into the marble floor, the shockwave shattering the nearby pillars. "I don't care about the risk to his body anymore. I will defeat you, and I know Kaizen better than you ever will. He can handle the pain. He would *demand* I strike."
"Then let the symphony of your destruction begin!" Devino roared.
**Evelyn** stepped forward, her light-blue aura flaring in a desperate attempt to bridge the gap between her and the Auron."Auron! What do we do? How do we fight him without—"
"Stay back, Evelyn," Auron commanded, his red gaze never leaving Devino. "Do exactly as I say. This is a war of the soul now."
"You think you'll take me on with your little friends?" Devino chuckled, snapping his fingers. "Fine. I'll bring my own support. And the ones who will help me... are the ones you love most."
The heavy mahogany doors didn't open—they exploded. From the swirling dust and dark mist, the missing members of **Aurafiest** arrived. **Shuri, Chika, Liod, Uno, Kael, and Marin** stepped into the light, their white ritual silks flowing around them like burial shrouds. Their eyes were milky voids, and their movements were jerky, like marionettes being tugged by invisible, necrotic strings.
Auron flinched. Seeing Shuri's pale face and Marin's vacant stare sent a jolt of agony through his chest, but he forced his black aura to absorb the pain.
Beside the possessed friends, two others emerged—the final two Nodes. One was a high-ranking official from the **Guild Headquarters**, and the other was a **Water Supplier** who had worked in the Council for years. They stood like gargoyles flanking the Devil.
"Face the Nodes!" Auron commanded the gathered Auramasters. "Mizu! Zoya! Arsalan! Use **Aura Purification** on the two Nodes at the side. But the others... do not hurt them. They are possessed. Capture them, bind them, but do not draw blood!"
"So you still seek to be a savior?" Devino mocked. "How boring."
"Auron, I'm helping you!" Evelyn shouted, ignoring his command to stay back. She moved to his side, her aura shining like a beacon against his darkness. "He has control over my best friend, my partner. I will not leave Kaizen to rot in your shadow alone!"
Auron glanced at her. He saw the fire in her eyes—the same fire that had taught him how to fight. "Fine. We face him together. But watch his hands."
The clash was instantaneous and apocalyptic.
Devino, using Kaizen's peak-level strength, launched a massive dark-matter sphere at the two of them. Auron and Evelyn dove in opposite directions, the explosion vaporizing the council table and sending shards of wood flying like shrapnel.
Auron moved with a new, terrifying speed. He wasn't the "Strategic Auron" anymore; he was the "Black Auramaster." He swung his staff, every strike aimed at pressure points, trying to bypass the physical muscle to strike at the spiritual parasite within. Devino parried with Kaizen's blade, the ring of metal on obsidian echoing like a scream.
Across the hall, the other Auramasters were struggling. **Mizu** and **Arsalan** had easily purified the two minor Nodes, but the possessed friends were a nightmare.
"We can't stop them!" Mizu shouted, dodging a flame-strike from a hollow-eyed Liod. "We can't use purification on them, and we can't hurt them! They're fighting with double their usual power!"
"Capture them!" Auron roared as he traded blows with Devino. "Bind them so they cannot move! If we defeat the source, the puppets will fall!"
Evelyn dove in, her light-based strikes attempting to blind Devino, but the Devil was a master of his vessel. He used Kaizen's knowledge to anticipate her every move. He lunged at her, his blade humming with dark energy. Auron intercepted, his black shield absorbing the impact with a sickening hiss.
Auron realized Evelyn was trying to communicate. In the heat of the battle, words were impossible, so he acted. He slammed his staff down, manifesting the **Retaliating Shield**, but this time, he funneled the energy into a dome that cut off all sound from the outside.
Inside the golden-black sphere, it was suddenly, eerily silent.
"Auron, listen to me," Evelyn panted, her face streaked with sweat and dust. "This shield... it's different. It's reflecting his power back at him, but it's not enough to exorcise him."
"I know," Auron whispered. "Devino is rooted in Kaizen's spirit. If I strike to kill, I kill the man who raised me."
"There has to be another way," Evelyn said, her mind racing. "Think, Luke. Any detail. You saw the ritual. Kaizen's body is the vessel, but is it his *real* body? The ritual said the Devino 'devours' the identity. If we make the body unconscious, does the Devil lose his grip?"
Auron gripped his staff, his red visor reflecting the distorted image of Devino pounding against the outside of the shield. "I don't know. But it's our only choice. We have to knock the body out without shattering the soul."
He dissolved the shield and lunged back into the fray. Just then, a shout came from the far end of the hall.
"Auron! We've captured **Chika** and **Kael**!" **Arsalan** yelled. "But they're acting weird! They're trying to claw at their own throats! They're trying to hurt themselves!"
Auron's heart skipped. "They're programmed to self-destruct if captured! Use medicine! Sedate them! Knock them out before they can finish the Devil's command!"
Devino laughed as he watched the chaos. "You can catch them all you want, little Thief. It doesn't matter. Because I am Devino—the Devil that Kaizen *agreed* to house. He invited me in, boy. He chose the darkness because he was tired of being your 'hero'."
"Liar!" Auron roared.
He lunged forward, his black aura flaring into the shape of a massive, obsidian dragon. This was the moment. He had to hit Kaizen hard enough to sever the neural link, but soft enough to keep his heart beating.
"How will you defeat a Devil who lives in your brother's blood?" Devino teased, raising Kaizen's aura sphere for a final, killing blow.
Auron's mind flashed to the 98% death risk. If he was going to save them, he couldn't play by the rules of the living anymore. He had to enter the realm of the dying.
"I won't just defeat you," Auron hissed. "I'm going to drown you in the light you've stolen."
The final clash between the Black Auramaster and the Devil Shepherd began, as the halls of the Council began to crumble under the weight of a brother's love and a hero's wrath.
