Chapter 5 - #4

Derivan and his class arrived in the town of Silono.

"Okay, let's go to the hotel, we'll assign you your rooms," the teacher announced, leading the students to the hotel.

Derivan was admiring the village. Suddenly, a boy, not much older than him, shoved him.

"Hey, watch your step, brat."

The teenager grimaced at being called that. "Brat, I'm not that much younger than you, you asshole!"

The boy just snorted in response. "Say what you want, to me you're just brats."

At the same time, Laura emerged from the shop. She immediately heard the sound of an argument between the mysterious teenager and Derivan. When she looked at him, she noticed that Derivan bore a striking resemblance to her and Kira. "No, that's impossible," she thought to herself.

"Hey, do you have a problem? Do you want to fight?" Derivan was about to start a fight, but the teacher stopped him.

"Derivan, calm down!" I sincerely apologize for his behavior.

The unnamed teenager said nothing, just walked away. Suddenly, an older man approached the group. "I see you've met my grandson. I'm sorry you witnessed his behavior."

"Are you here?"

"My name is Henry and I'm the mayor of Silono. You must be academy students who just arrived?"

"That's right."

"I'd love to talk to you, but I have to get back to my duties."

The class arrived at the hotel, and the students were assigned to their rooms. Naturally, Derivan and Ray were assigned the same. Late in the evening, Ray sensed something and was about to leave.

"Where are you going?"

"I have to go for a walk, I'll be back soon." Ray stepped outside and headed towards the park outside the city. "I know you're here, you can show yourself."

A young woman with long purple hair, wearing a dark coat with a long collar, appeared from behind a tree. "It's been a while, Ray, aren't you going to say hello to an old friend?"

"What do you want, Yarita?"

"I just wanted to make sure you remembered your mission."

Ray looked at the familiar girl, irritated. "Don't act like my mother, I remember perfectly well what to do."

"But if you need my help, you know where to find me."

When Yarita disappeared, Ray returned to the hotel and was surprised to see Derivan walking somewhere.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm going to train outside the village," the teenager replied, leaving the room.

When Derivan left the hotel, he noticed someone following him. "I know you're there, stop hiding."

Nohara emerged from behind a tree.

"Why are you following me?"

Nohara looked away, wondering what to say. "You know you're not allowed to go outside the town. I came to stop you." That wasn't entirely true, but she couldn't reveal the real reason.

"Come on, I didn't hear the teacher mention anything about that."

Nohara was about to say something, but they both heard a strange rustling sound. "Did you hear that?"

Somewhere in a bar, a man sat drinking.

"What else can I do for you?" the bartender asked.

The man looked at him and said, "No, thank you, that's enough for today. I'll go for an evening walk." Leaving the money on the bar, the man left the bar.

Walking through town, the man heard a noise, like someone fighting. Curious, he went in that direction and saw Derivan and Nohara fighting some monsters.

A moment earlier...

Derivan and Nohara were outside the village. Suddenly, they heard a rustling sound, and a moment later, several green monsters jumped out from behind the bushes.

"What are those monsters?" the shocked teenager asked.

"Those are goblins," Nohara said, surprising Derivan.

"Goblins?"

"I heard there were a lot of them a few years ago and they often attacked various villages, but I thought they were all extinct."

Derivan began to get excited. "This will be good training. Time to kick their asses."

One of the goblins charged, and Derivan ran up to him. He then dodged its attack and kicked the goblin in the head, knocking him back several meters.

"Hahaha, that's all you can do."

After a moment, the goblin stood up and spat some slime from his mouth.

"Dodge it, Derivan, if that slime hits you, it could hurt you."

Derivan jumped aside when he saw the slime hit the spot where he had been standing a moment ago. "What's wrong?"

"This slime is like acid; even a drop can harm you," Nohara explained.

"I understand."

Nohara, using her ice magic, created a multitude of icicles, which she fired at the goblins. One was hit and fell dead, while the other dodged the attack.

"Damn, where did he almost run?" Nohara began to search for the goblin.

A moment later, the goblin jumped down from the tree behind Nohara. Luckily, Derivan spotted him in time. "Be careful!" he warned, running and knocking the creature away from the girl with a single blow.

"Thanks."

"Thanks is the last thing I expected from you," Derivan said jokingly.
