Chapter 8 - #7

The city was in chaos, caused by a goblin attack.

"Ronibo, we need to move the citizens to the shelter," Henry said.

"I know."

Suddenly, Kriro stood in front of Ronibo and Mayor Silono. "Don't think I'll let you do this."

"Kriro, so this is your doing?" Henry said.

"Not really, someone helped me with this, of course."

Ronibo turned to the mayor. "Old man, you better get away, I'll stop him."

"Are you sure you can handle it?"

"Of course, I'm an Ultra-class mage for a reason."

"Okay, I'll move the civilians to the shelter." The mayor immediately ran toward the citizens.

"It's been many years since our last fight, Ronibo. Do you really think you can defeat me?"

Ronibo smiled, taking a fighting stance. "I already did this once, but I guess that defeat didn't teach you anything, so I have to repeat my lessons."

Kriro smiled back. "Enough of that talk, let's get to the fight," he said, using magic.

Several pillars rose from the ground, which Kriro directed at his opponent. In response to his attack, Ronibo thrust his hand toward the pillars, then unleashed a bolt of lightning from his hand, which shattered Kriro's pillars.

"Pretty good," Kriro praised, preparing another attack.

Parts of the ground began to rise, forming a large ball, which Kriro threw at Ronibo. "I wonder how you'll handle that."

"Great. I think it's time to demonstrate my technique." Ronibo extended both hands, connecting them with his middle and ring fingers, then began concentrating his choki "Ultimate Lightning Bolt!" He fired a powerful lightning bolt.

When Ronibo's attack hit Kriro's ball, shattering it into millions of small pieces, Kriro suddenly appeared behind Ronibo.

"When he did?"

Kriro was about to strike, but suddenly Ronibo disappeared from sight and reappeared several meters away. His body was surrounded by an aura of electrical discharges.

"Impressive, you can wear lightning armor, which allows you to increase your speed."

Meanwhile, Derivan and Laura defeated a number of goblins, and suddenly Eric appeared.

"You're the mayor's grandson, what are you doing here?"

Eric smiled ominously. A dark aura surrounded his body, his pupils disappeared, and strange markings appeared on his hands and face.

"What's the matter? His power has increased significantly."

"This is the power of the curse," said Laura.

"The power of the curse?"

"I heard that people who are cursed gain tremendous power. But why does this power seem strangely familiar to me?"

Eric vanished from everyone's sight and instantly appeared in front of Derivan, punching him in the stomach. The teenager spat blood and flew a considerable distance, hitting a nearby building.

"Derivan!"

Eric appeared above Laura, but the blonde easily dodged his attack and fired a blast of air, knocking the opponent away. She then fired several energy bolts. As Laura fired the bolts, Derivan appeared behind Eric, trying to attack him from behind.

"Take it!"

Eric elbowed Derivan in the stomach, then, with a half-turn, kicked him in the face, knocking him several meters to the side.

"Derivan! Damn it!"

Laura tried to do something, but Eric immediately appeared in front of her, grabbing the girl by the neck and trying to strangle her.

"Leave her alone, you bastard!" Derivan instantly appeared next to Eric and, concentrating his choki in his hand, fired a stream of lightning.

After receiving the attack, Eric was forced to let go of Laura, who immediately seized the opportunity and moved away from the cursed teenager.

"Okay?"

"Yes, we'd better focus on the fight."

Eric prepared for another attack, but the mayor suddenly appeared.

"Eric, what's that supposed to mean?"

"Old man, you'd better leave, your grandson isn't himself right now," Derivan warned.

"I see, but I want to at least try to reason with him. Come on, Eric, please listen to your grandfather and calm down."

Henry's words didn't reach his grandson. Eric lunged at his grandfather. At the last moment, Derivan appeared in front of the mayor, pushing the old man away and taking the blow that sent the teenager flying a considerable distance. This time, Laura launched an attack, creating a powerful storm. The attack was powerful enough to blow him out of town.

"You see, old man, if we could stop him with a conversation, we would have done it a long time ago. This asshole doesn't listen to anyone these days, so we have to stop him by force."

Henry lowered his gaze, knowing Derivan was right. "I guess there's no other choice..."

The mayor didn't finish as he was shot by an energy beam that pierced him completely. Henry spat blood and fell to the ground.

"OLD MAN/MAYOR!"
