Soren picked up Nicholas's phone the moment it began to ring.
The device vibrated against the glass table, the sharp sound cutting through the quiet hum of the movie playing on the large screen in front of him. Soren frowned, pausing the movie without thinking as he leaned forward and grabbed the phone.
The screen lit up.
Red Eye Devil.
Soren stared at the name for a long second, his expression darkening almost immediately.
Of course.
He glanced toward the staircase, listening carefully. Nicholas had gone upstairs not long ago to shower, and judging by the lack of footsteps or movement, he was still there. Soren tilted his head, listening again just to be sure. Nothing.
Good.
Without hesitation, Soren rejected the call and placed the phone face down on the table.
Why the fuck was he calling?
