The shaft had snapped.

For several seconds, Soren simply stared at the two pieces as though he couldn't understand what he was seeing.
Then he raised his head.
His mouth fell open.
He looked at the broken club.
He looked at me.
Then he looked at Jamie.
I pressed both hands over my mouth.
"How is that possible?" I asked, my voice already shaking with laughter.
Soren didn't answer.
"SO-REN!" Jamie shouted, practically wheezing.
"I didn't do anything!" Soren protested.
"You broke the golf club!" Jamie said.
"I didn't mean to—"
"Easy as hell, huh?" I managed to say.
That finished him.
