Jenifer's POV
"Apologize." Reed's tone cut through the air like a blade, his gaze sharp enough to make Romano visibly shudder. The boy couldn't stop trembling.
Terror consumed Romano entirely. He no longer dared to argue. Grudgingly, he shuffled toward Serena and mumbled, "I'm sorry."
When I heard his apology, I didn't even spare Romano a glance. Instead, I turned to Serena, my voice gentle. "He apologized. Do you want to accept it? If that's not sufficient, just tell me what would make this right."
My warm tone froze Romano in place. Jealousy flooded through him as he glared at Serena with pure hatred.
Serena missed Romano's venomous stare completely. Meeting my concerned gaze, she gave a small shake of her head. "Aunt, my bottom still stings a little, but I'll forgive him. I think he's just worried I might steal you from him."
