Chapter 6 - Walking Dead

It was then that Gideon fully realised he had been dead all this while, and the clothes he was previously wearing, which were already decaying, were all real, not his hallucination.

Gideon's eyes widened as he asked, "You mean I have been dead for three years?"

Clara began to mumble words in her mouth, as if already getting mental. "No, this can't be possible. I saw him die."

Not quite long, the news spread across the department that Gideon was alive. His superior, Mr Muzan, rushed into Gideon's office which was now occupied by Clara, and the moment he saw him, he froze.

Muzan was a very close friend to Gideon despised he was his superior, though he was older than Gideon, and a very skilful and intelligent man. His intellect in the aspect of solving cases is unmatched by any.

He went over to Gideon and softly held his hands. "I'm I hallucinating, or is this real?"

Gideon stared at Muzan, but then he hugged him. Muzan had so many questions to ask, and so he invited Gideon to his office.

Gideon sat on the chair, staring at his superior, who is also his best friend.

"How did it happen," Muzan asked, his face pale and confused.

Gideon took a deep breath. "There's a case I was working on that involved the Black Bull cartels. I somehow got hold of the son of the Black Bull leader, and then I proceeded to tackle the issue myself, but I was shot in the head. That's the only thing I could remember."

Gideon explains, and he wishes he could explain more than what he has just said, but he can't. He can't start saying things about the translucent screen that he had an encounter with. And the voice that had been rumbling inside his mind.

After carefully listening to what Gideon said, Muzan took a deep breath. "The case you are referring to is three years ago, which means you were dead three years ago or perhaps should I say gone missing."

Gideon sighed, his head slowly dropping. "Yes, Clara told me."

"But how was it possible?" Muzan asked again, but Gideon's voice cut in. "My friend, the important thing here is that I'm now alive. Can you give me a brief detail of what has happened while I have been away?"

Muzan was still trying to believe what Gideon had said to him. He had thought that Gideon had somehow faked his death. But he saw him die; he saw his lifeless form on the footage. How was he able to survive?

The question remained unsolved inside Muzan Mind, but then Gideon's voice snapped him back. "Muzan, can you stop sucking yourself into those thoughts of yours, please? We are talking about life here."

"Sorry, I was deep in thought." Muzan softly apologised, and then he began. "After your death three years ago, the crime in this city skyrocketed. The Black Bull cartels had taken over most of the streets; even we, the police, are scared for our lives."

Gideon is a dedicated police officer. He had never expected that some piece of insolent crime bosses would take over the city.

The words got him extremely angry, and so he slammed his feet on the desk. "This is unacceptable. How did this get to become like this? If this city is taking my bad guys, then how would it be safe for people to live in?"

Muzan then moves his hands forward before gripping Gideon softly on his palms. "I have a lot of questions about how you have survived, but that doesn't matter now; the most important thing presently is that you are back to work. Those bastards had done too much; let's put them in the right place, which is behind bars."

Gideon smiled; those exact words are what he had been waiting for from Muzan, and he just said them, which just tightened his passion in making sure he fixed the condition the city is in.

Gideon's dedication to his job was so recognised that any file that's put under his custody always

gets solved, be it any case of any calibre.
