Helena's POV
Three imposing figures tower at the foot of my hospital bed, and my gaze darts between them uncertainly. Each one waits for me to speak, but words seem to escape me completely. The weight of their stares makes me shift restlessly against the thin sheets.
"I'm sorry," I manage to break the suffocating quiet. "Did someone just say mate?"
A satisfied smirk spreads across Patrick's face as he moves forward, but Asher's firm grip yanks him backward. "How exactly did you manage to breach our pack borders?"
Patrick's eyes flash with irritation. "What's eating at you, baby brother? Afraid I'm here to claim your precious position?"
My temples throb as I struggle to make sense of their heated exchange. I study Asher and Patrick's faces, searching for any family resemblance, but they couldn't look more different. Their bitter words fly back and forth as if I've vanished from the room entirely, and the constant bickering sends sharp pains through my skull.
