Veronica's POV
I pulled up to the police station and spotted Jameson waiting by the entrance.
Dressed in all black, his face carried that familiar weight of grief, like he'd been standing there forever just waiting for me to show.
"Jameson."
"Veronica."
We barely got through our greeting before more vehicles rolled up to the station.
Jameson's eyes shifted toward the new arrivals. "Looks like Mr. Nelson just got here."
I turned and saw Leonardo's tall frame emerge from that sleek luxury car of his.
The second his feet hit the pavement, his gaze found me—watching me stand there with Jameson.
He strode straight over.
"Mr. Nelson," Jameson said with a polite nod.
Leonardo returned the greeting before his attention landed squarely on me. I didn't give him the satisfaction of eye contact, just turned away and said flatly, "We should head inside."
I walked past him without so much as a glance, leaving him with nothing but my back.
