Veronica's POV
The meeting was set at a city apartment.
I followed the address Juliette had texted me, found the place, and knocked. The door swung open almost immediately.
"Veronica, you made it! Get in here," Juliette said, stepping aside to let me through.
"What's this about?" I asked, walking inside. That's when I spotted Kitty on the couch, her face a mess of tears and mascara streaks.
Kitty had been sobbing nonstop, but the second she saw me, she jumped up. "Veronica..."
"What the hell happened?" I stared at her puffy, red eyes, completely lost. I turned to Juliette. "Why's she bawling?"
Juliette shot Kitty a look and let out a heavy sigh. "Okay, so here's what went down..."
Juliette laid out the whole mess—how Kitty had been eavesdropping and then had the nerve to pretend to be me. "That's when Mr. Nelson lost it and banned her from Aurelia City. She's screwed, so she begged me to get you here."
