Veronica's POV
Everyone crowded around to examine the proof I'd presented. Clyde's shoe sole sparkled with traces of the same powder I'd used to dust the area.
"Perfect match!"
The evidence was undeniable—Clyde had stolen that snake.
Cornered by solid proof and the cops standing right there, Clyde broke down completely. He dropped to his knees, shaking as the confession spilled out.
"I... I did it... I planted the snake... Cecile... forgive me! Please!"
Cecile's voice cut like ice. "Clyde, how has The Nelson Family wronged you? What possessed you to do something so vile? Why try to hurt Leonardo?"
"I..." Clyde's wet eyes flickered around desperately before he finally choked out, "Months ago, Mr. Nelson gave me a brutal tongue-lashing... I couldn't let it go and went crazy. That's why I did this..."
Some family members started nodding, remembering an incident from way back. Clyde had been caught bothering a maid, and Leonardo had torn into him when he found out.
