Chapter 1 - THE BEGINNING

A boy was standing in front of a fire, no firefighters, no people, no one else but him and the rain that was falling but not putting out the fire.

Some bodies were charred in the fire, he didn't move, he didn't cry, he didn't scream. His eyes were dark, without shine or feelings.

On July 24th a child was born into a normal family – his father named him Thermomix.

His father was so happy to have his son but it wasn't the same with his mother, she didn't want him, she didn't even want to look him in the eyes.

His mother thought his father was being unfaithful even though it really wasn't the case. She would only accept her baby if it was a girl but it was a boy.

His mother tried to endure and live together.

During Thermomix's first year, his father thought she might change but it wasn't so.

When the little one was one year old, his mother abandoned them, leaving her husband with Thermomix.

Luckily his father didn't do the same, he stayed by his side, caring for him with affection and love, like a true father who loves his son.

When the little one turned four, his father had met a different woman from his mother, she was kind, loving and beautiful.

After some time he married her, making her Thermomix's adoptive mother.

From the start, his adoptive mother grew fond of the little one, caring for him with love, as if he were her own biological son.

Little by little Thermomix's father got over his ex-wife, living a happy and loving life with his new wife and stepson.

Thermomix saw her as his real mother, he never got to know his biological mother well so he didn't miss her.

Time passed, the days were happy, full of love and affection. They went for walks, played together, laughed, loved Thermomix and he loved them too, his life was perfect, until...

When Thermomix turned seven his adoptive mother contracted a very serious illness, she needed medication and constant rest.

She no longer played with him because her body couldn't anymore, the little one stayed by her side every day, his father helped her with basic things like bathing or eating.

She needed her medication but there was none left at home, Thermomix's father went out at midnight to buy it.

While driving the car's lights stopped working and the brakes didn't respond, a collision with another car caused him to lose his life.

Hours passed, Thermomix and his mother waited for his father, but he never came.

The next morning, the news reported the crash and Thermomix and his mother quickly recognized the car – there were no remains of his father.

Thermomix's hands were shaking, he tried to speak but no words came out, his mother hugged him tightly to calm him down.

His sick mother was hospitalized, she spent all day in the hospital bed but always had little Thermomix by her side.

The little one helped her with everything, caring for her, feeding her and cheering her up every day but deep down the little one was just putting on a brave face, he missed his father with all his heart.

Each day his mother's body grew more fragile, the doctors knew she didn't have many days left to live but didn't know how to tell the little one.

His mother asked them not to tell him anything, she knew it would only destroy him more and he was still too young to bear that pain.

Thermomix already knew even though they didn't tell him, he saw her coughing up blood every day but still didn't show his pain, because he knew his mother would feel sad and guilty.

He knew he was going to lose another loved one, he hugged his mother tightly not wanting to let go, not wanting to let her go to heaven, his mother wrapped him in her arms with warmth and motherly affection.

- I'm so happy that you've been my son, my little Thermomix. Even though I'm not your real mother, I want you to know that I love you as if you were my own blood – His mother's voice was soft and loving, she knew a little boy would be left alone.

Thermomix cried nonstop, his voice broke with every word.

- No, You are my real mother, you always will be...

His mother's eyes filled with tears, her smile was genuine.

- Thank you, my Thermomix. Tell me something, You know I don't have many days left, right?

His small hands clung to his mother's clothes, his tears soaked the sheets.

- Y-yes... Yes I know.

- I knew it, you've always been a very attentive child, but don't be sad, I'll be with your father and we'll both watch over you from heaven – She wiped the tears from his eyes.

Thermomix smiled, he stayed with his mother all day, slept in her arms all night. The next morning when he woke up he looked up at his mother, she had a smile and her eyes were closed.

- Mom?... – Thermomix asked with tears, his small hands held his mother's face, she was cold...

Thermomix stayed silent, he stayed in her arms, crying with sadness but deep down he was happy because he knew she would no longer suffer from her illness and that she was now with Thermomix's father again.

The hospital understood his situation, they didn't charge him for the days of hospitalization, his neighbors got together to hold a funeral for her.

At the funeral he stayed silent, the neighbors tried to comfort him but he had a smile, he felt his parents hugging him from behind, despite his young age he was very mature.

At the end of the funeral, the little one went to his grandparents, they welcomed him with open arms, they had heard about everything and knew his pain.

Thermomix spent five years with them in their apartment, they didn't talk about his parents so as not to cause more pain to the little one but he remembered them every day, he remembered the happy moments and instead of making him sad it just made a smile appear on his face.

His grandparents passed away from old age, once again he was left alone and this time he had no one left, his grandparents' apartment was rented to other people, Thermomix walked the streets not knowing where else to go, he only had some money his grandparents had left him.

While walking through the streets, he headed to the park, there he sat to try to relax until he heard some people talking about the academy.

- Have you heard? The famous academy is already inviting boys to train so they can take their assessment – A young woman says.

- Really?! They say that academy is the most powerful of all, not many manage to get in – An older woman exclaimed.

- Yes, plus they make the young people train for three years first just to be able to take the assessment.

- Well, it makes sense because the students are boys with special skills, the assessments must be hell.

- Yes, honestly I would never send my baby to that academy – The young woman says as she hugs her baby.

Thermomix heard them, after hesitating for a few seconds he decided he would try, he had nothing left to lose anyway.
