Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Hearing his words, Illena stared at Charles with amazement in her eyes. She didn't think he could do something like that.

She didn't question why he didn't do it. After staying here for ten days, she came to understand Charles's stance.

Knowing the existence of Dimensional Lord and Sorcerers who protect Earth from those beings, she knew there were people stronger than Charles.

So, unless Charles was capable of killing those sorcerers, he wouldn't do something like that.

Even if mutants were pushed to an extreme situation.

Because at least this way, they had survived. If he made that decision, those sorcerers wouldn't let him succeed.

What Illena didn't know was the existence of the Ancient One, who could peek into the future.

If she knew Charles was going to do something like that, she could easily avoid it.

As for others, they didn't think about it. They had been together with Charles for a while.

They knew exactly what he was capable of.

"So, why did you invite me here?"

Adam moved a chair next to him, facing the Professor as he sat down.

"We hope you can ask your Lord to help Anna Marie control her powers. But instead of selling her soul, I can make transactions in other things."

Charles spoke out in his terms as he stared at him.

Adam replied.

"Sure, why not?"

"Huh?"

This surprised everyone. They didn't expect him to agree so easily.

Adam chuckled.

"Are you surprised that I agree so easily?"

Charles nodded his head.

"Did Illena mention I am a mutant?"

Charles's eyes lit up as he remembered it. Since Adam was a mutant, wouldn't he be able to help them, even help Jean?

"You are getting the wrong idea here. I am indeed a mutant, and I will help other mutants."

"But there will always be a cost. It's just that I can use my rank to get a favor from my Lord to help you."

"In return, I need two things."

Hearing that, the joy in his face disappeared.

Scott immediately spoke.

"But, we are mutants. Shouldn't we help each other?"

Hearing that, Adam gave him a stunned look and said.

"Dude, even neighbours would hesitate to let others enter their house unless they know each other very well."

"What made you think I would help you guys for free? We don't even know each other."

Charles shook his head and spoke.

"Sorry, Mr. Adam! Because we are often shunned by humans, Scott believes mutants should always help each other."

"Please tell me your terms!"

Adam nodded and replied.

"First, One Hundred Million Dollars! Second, I need Hank for a year. If he leaves after that, I will not stop him."

Hearing that, Logan spoke.

"Bub, your conditions are too much. That's just one soul, and you are asking one hundred million. Do you even know how much that is?"

Even Charles frowned. While that was an amount he could take out, he didn't want to give away so much for just one million.

"This is how business works. Anna's ability isn't Omega, but she can steal the powers from Omega Level mutants."

"You could say she can steal powers from Sky Fathers. In other words, her value outshines everyone in this institute except for you two."

He said as he looked at Charles and Jean. Then, he paused for a moment and turned towards Ororo.

"You and a little guy."

Hearing his words, Charles's brows tightened.

Even he didn't expect such a reply. On the other hand, Illena confusedly asked.

"What does Omega Level mean? Aren't there only Epsilon, Beta, and Alpha Ranks?"

Adam looked at Jean, giving her a nod as she spoke.

"Generally, mutants are divided among those three levels based on the power and range of their abilities."

"For example, Professor is an Alpha Level Telepath. I am also an Alpha Level Telepath, but my powers are weaker than Professor."

"Omega is a rank used to generally describe mutants with no upper limits. I didn't think there was an Omega Level Mutant in our school."

Hearing that, Charles interrupted.

"You are one of them, Jean."

"What?"

Jean was stunned when she heard that. She never thought she would be classified as an Omega Rank Mutant by the professor.

Even Storm and Logan were surprised. Only Scott looked like he knew about it.

"That's why I said her value is high. Naturally, my Lord wants her soul. I think you should just let her sign the contract."

"With that, not only will she get cured, but she will also possess a small bit of my Lord's power that she can grow with time and effort."

"You already are burdened with so many expenses. Don't waste money on me! You can get all that benefit with just one soul."

Hearing that, Charles chuckled.

"I didn't expect you to say that. But I have to try. I have a question, Mr. Adam. If you were not a mutant, what price would you have given?"

"One billion!"

Adam raised his index finger and said.

"But no, I wouldn't have agreed in the first place."

Hearing that, Charles nodded his head.

"I can agree about a Hundred Million. I can also call Hank, but if he doesn't agree, this deal is off."

Others wanted to say something, but when they saw Charles' look, they couldn't say a word.

Adam stood up and extended his hand.

"Nice to settle a deal with you!"

"Let's hope another deal doesn't cost me so much!"

Charles chuckled as he shook Adam's hand.

Adam turned towards Illena and said.

"You can sign the contract with her. After this contract, your rank will rise."

Saying so, he opened the portal and left.

"Professor, why did you agree to such a deal?"

Storm couldn't help but feel strange about Charles's good mood. He just lost one hundred million dollars, but he was smiling.

Hearing that, Charles turned towards Illena, who nodded and turned around.

"Illena, not a word about the deal should get out, understand?"

Charles' voice came from behind, and she waved her hand as she left the room.

Only after she left, Charles looked at the others and asked.

"Do you think Adam is on the mutant side?"

This question stumped four of them.

"Should be right?" Logan replied with some uncertainties.

Charles shook his head.

"No, the moment he chose to work under a Dimensional Being, he can no longer favor mutants."

"Otherwise, he wouldn't be living so carelessly on Earth. He would've been hiding his traces, hiding his face, and even making deals in secrets."

"But he isn't. Not just him, even Illena, Boris, and Monti are openly recruiting other mutants to sign the contracts."

"That's why he chose to make a deal like that. One hundred million is indeed a huge amount, but it's not something I can't pay."

"That's why he suggested I should let Anna sign the contract."

Hearing that, Jeans and others were confused. Only Ororo felt enlightened.

"So, that's it. He can't help us openly, so he demanded some kind of compensation."

"He also took Hank with him so that we can still maintain contact. And Hank is smart. He will be able to figure out Adam's clues and intentions."

Charles shook his head and said.

"I am not sure about that. But I can be sure that he can't help us openly. I will ask Hank to keep an eye on him."

"If he is a trustworthy guy, we can sign the contract and ask for his help."

Hearing that, Ororo's eyes widened as she said.

"Professor, are we really planning on selling our souls?"

"That sounds bad."

Logan muttered.

"Well, Illena did mention that until we die, her Lord will not interfere with our lives."

Jean folded her hands over her chest. She was still confused about her classification.

She never thought she would be an Omega Rank. It was just an empty classification Charles used to describe power beyond comprehension.

How could she be an Omega Rank when her telepathy can't even surpass the Professor's?

Charles took out his phone and called Hank.

"Hello Hank!"

"Yes, I am fine."

"It's not an emergency. I need your help with something. Are you willing to work for someone for a year?"

"No, no, I am not threatened. It's a deal, but I will respect your choice."

"He is a mutant who can't interfere with mutants without legitimate reasons. So, I need your help to keep an eye on him."

"No, he is not a bad person. At least, he hasn't done anything bad."

"So, you agree?"

"Yes, please return to the school. I will explain everything in detail."

"Thank you, Hank!"

After saying that, he cut off the call and turned towards Scott.

"Scott, tell Illena that Hank has agreed to the deal."

Five minutes later;

A message appeared on his phone. Seeing this message, Charles turned towards Jean and said.

"It seems we need to visit the bank."
