Chapter 7 - Chapter 5.5: The Secret of the God of Order

I am the God of Order, and also the God of Freedom and the God of Fate.

I hold a secret that must never be known to Father.

I am precisely aware of the exact time and place of each of his descents into the mortal realm.

Thus, I have covertly arranged for many people. The vendor selling candied chestnuts, the lovers holding hands, the wanderer resting by the roadside… they are all my most loyal law enforcers, clad in mortal garments, playing the roles of unsuspecting extras in the script I have written.

Father's mortal vessel is fragile beyond measure. He can feel the cold, he grows hungry, and he could even be taken by a stray bullet.

He will never know that the car accident he "luckily" avoided was the result of my manipulation of the threads of fate; that "helpful" passerby who gave him directions was in fact the steadiest captain in my police force.

Last time, when he wandered alone through a neighborhood controlled by gangs, I was terrified. Just before he turned into that dark alley, I fabricated an absurd misunderstanding—two rival gangs mistakenly believed the other had stolen their boss's beloved cat and rushed off to rescue the feline.

Father passed through the empty alleyway and remarked, "How quiet it is here today."

I breathed a sigh of relief, yet something in my heart felt heavy and tight.

I understand that even if his physical body perishes, his primordial soul will never be extinguished.

But what child would wish to see their father suffer?

I build an invisible cage of order to protect him.

I weave a perfect lie of freedom to shield him.

I am the deity who guards him, and also the child who deceives him.

Each time I see the unguarded smile on his face, this secret pricks my heart like a fine needle.
