Elisabeth's POV
"You really didn't need to do that," I snapped at Alana the second we stepped outside. My voice came out harsher than I meant it to, but I couldn't stop myself. "That was petty and cruel, even for you."
Alana just shrugged like she couldn't care less. "I didn't like how she spoke to you. Besides, maybe I helped you out. Maybe Jefferson will punish her and you won't have to deal with her attitude for a while."
I stared at her harder, the frustration building in my chest. She could be so incredibly immature sometimes. "You're acting like a child, you know that?"
"But you still love me." She flashed me that grin of hers, the one that was half pout and half smirk. It was almost enough to make me forget why I was angry, and despite myself, I felt my lips twitch into a reluctant smile.
"Come on, let's go before they come looking for us." I pushed her toward the direction of my room.
