"I still can't believe your life turned into such a soap opera overnight," Alana said, passing me a crystal tumbler filled with something that tasted expensive.
I laughed despite myself, the sound echoing in the ridiculously luxurious theater room. "You make it sound glamorous. Trust me, it's been nothing but stress and sleepless nights."
Alana threw herself dramatically onto the plush velvet couch, wrapping a cashmere throw around her shoulders like she owned the place. Which, in a way, she kind of did now. "Oh please, look around," she gestured at the massive screen and stadium seating. "Jefferson's house has everything. Indoor pool, outdoor pool, wine cellar, and now this private cinema. You're basically living in a five-star resort."
She had a point. The mansion was impressive in a cold, sterile way. Everything was perfectly designed and ridiculously expensive.
