Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

Chapter Four

Dawn Pov.

Standing to my feet, I glare at the beast with annoyance and partial fear as I let out a small growl. But the sound didn't come off as menacing as I wanted and I think this amused the beast.

But I might be wrong. The beast stared at me for a long while, neither attacking nor moving and then it turned around and began to retreat back into the caves and back to its open cage.

"The fuck did I just witness?" Rae Rae was stumped and so was I. I brought my paws up to my face and stared at them in question.

Was I that small and unappetizing? Rae Rae downright fell over in laughter at my thoughts and I glared at her.

"A purple fox…"

"So beautiful.."

Oh crap. I turned my head to find the students' from before had returned with some instructors and the principal was there too and they all stared at my fox form in shock.

"A five tailed purple fox." the principal whispered as she took slow steps towards me and I growled lowly.

And this time, the growl was loud and unlike when I was in front of the beast from earlier.

Their hands all went up quickly in a show of surrender but I knew better, from what I had learnt from the former owner of this body, these people were more or less hypocrites.

"We should run" Rae Rae suggested and I nodded in agreement before I turned around and sprinted away.

"Hey! Stop. Someone follow him," the principal called out orders and I sighed, they would have to catch me first.

I could faintly hear their footsteps as I took them into the forests, a plan forming in my mind and Rae Rae chortled with glee as we raced past trees.

"Soooo fast," she cried out, her voice excited beyond relief and I smiled as I took the rounds around the dormitory building and when I was sure that I had lost them, I jumped through an open window behind the lodgings and transformed immediately into my human form.

"That was exhilarating." Rae Rae gasped within my head and I laughed before turning around to the forests and my ears twitched. Catching the sounds of footsteps still following the trail I had purposely left behind.

Bunch of fools. I was a trained assassin and hiding my trails was the least of my specialties.

"Athena?" A voice suddenly sounded from behind me and my whole body went rigid as I slowly turned around.

When I had chosen this place earlier to transform, I had checked for any living being around but found none within close range so how did this person get here.

"That's Corey, from last night" Rae Rae explained and my brain quickly took me back to the night he had offered me water after I helped them out.

"Is something the problem?" I asked, my voice cold and he shook his head before glancing behind me.

"What are you doing here?" He asked and I gave him a bored look.

"Isn't that obvious? Watching the spectacle" I turned my head around– hoping against hopes that he would walk away before I punched his face in.

"Don't you have detention? For missing curfew?" He asked again, obviously unable to keep shut.

"Should that be any of your business?" I shot back and he shook his head, his face falling slightly.

"Just surprised to see you here, that's all. No one except me comes here" he explained and I gave him a once over, my left eye brow lifting as I subtly glanced around.

"Sounds like a good hiding spot. Don't bother, I won't say anything to anyone" he hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but shook his head.

His shoulders dropped but I paid him no heed as I walked away.

"Savage, truly savage" Rae Rae said to me as soon as we were out of sight and I stopped in my tracks.

"Savage?"

"Can't you see he was happy to see you there? Or that he wanted to say something before you stalked of?"she said, as if I didn't understand human language and I scratched my head.

Huh?.

"Hopeless…. Truly hopeless" she mumbled with a snort.

I begin to head back to the caves, hoping to get the whole job done before my combat class.

I can't believe that a trained assassin still had to start from the very beginning to relearn all that I had learnt and perfected all these years.

But I comforted myself by telling myself that this body still needed training.

As soon as I got there, I was relieved to find that there was no one in sight or in close range. No one here to disturb and taunt me into breaking their teeth.

Passing through the repaired shields, I felt a cool sensation wash over me but it disappeared as soon as I passed through and I sighed, already missing it.

This place had no air conditioning.

A growl greeted me as soon as I walked past the shield and I glanced around to find that beast from earlier staring lazily at me from its caged caves.

"You…" I trailed off before I growled low in my throat and advanced towards it.

"You made me look stupid, you crazy beast," I cursed and I could swear it smirked at me.

A low grumbling sound came from it as it's eyes flicked up to stare at me before closing up and my eyes widened.

"Did you just laugh at me? You beast.. what gave you the right to laugh at me!" I cried out in grievance but got no reaction at all except a lazy huff.

Hmmph. I stumped my feet as I turned around and began to walk away.

"The beast has never been that way since I knew him, did you drug him or something?" A suspicious voice rang out and I turned around , my hair whipping into my face.

A young woman around my age stood there, a paper in hand and a cat in the other hand. But the cat looked twice the size of the normal cats that I knew from earth.

"And what are you insinuating?" I questioned, my voice leveled and calm and she smiled sweetly.

"Did you drug it or something?" She asked, going straight to the point without beating about the bush.

"Maybe I did. What's it to you" I shot out and her face paled slightly before rage set in.

Two enemies in one day, could my day get any worse
