The train
was leaving in two minutes, just as it always does. There had been a recent extension
of how long the trains stayed at each station after that one reporter did a
scoop on the whole situation . I could never remember his name if I'm being
honest. My memories never been the best. Apparently the director of intercity
travel had been neglecting certain guidelines. I'm really not sure what the
whole things about but I'm not complaining. Whatever helps me make up for my
poor attendance. I really need to salvage the instructor's opinion of me. I ran
across the road before a green light and almost got hit by a car. I had to
ignore all the honking even though I definitely deserve it. I've just got to
make it on time! Although I do get distracted for a moment when I actually see
the train station. There was some graffiti on the wall of naga, the Kaiju that
attacked the west border of the city 2 weeks ago. It was a 70 foot long serpent
with black and white scales. It was killed by the turrets on the wall before it
could do any real damage. But that's not really my focus. Whoever made this had
changed the colour of the scales from black and white to red, orange and pink. It
certainly looked a lot friendlier that way. I take out my phone and take a
photo of rainbow naga for future reference. Passersby give me a confused look
before moving on, doing their best to keep a good distance. I can hardly blame
them of course. Kaiju are humanities greatest enemies. People should be
uncomfortable around an image of a giant monster that constantly tries to kill
us all. I should be able to grasp that much. I guess the fact that I don't act
on that knowledge is just another area I fall short in. But they look so cool
though! The huge size! The unexplainable powers! The near endless variations of
their forms! How could I not be interested in them? As I put my phone away I
heard it. My worst nightmare. The sound of electricity whirring to life and
building up. And then the worst of it. The boom as the train was launched at
high speeds down the track. To the training facility. Without me.
"Wait!" I
yelled, causing a bit of a scene as people started to look at me. I started
shaking like a leaf even when they went back to their own days. Oh my gosh that
was humiliating everyone probably thinks I'm some crybaby now! I can never come
back here again! I think some of them saw my horns! They probably think I'm not
taking my duties seriously enough! Everyone at the facility is going to be so
mad at me! I'll just have to run there! The Problem there was that I wasn't
looking where I was going. Meaning I
pretty quickly ran right into someone's chest and fell over. I immediately feel
dizzy as the impact was right on my horns, the feeling lingering there for much
longer than the rest of my body. Just once I'd like to run into someone and
accidentally hit their head instead. Being 5 feet tall is the worst. Wait, did
I just screw up again?! How does that happen twice in less than a minute?! Oh
god I'm such an idiot what am I going to do?!
"Are you ok
kid?" Asked the man I ran into, breaking me out of my panic. I looked up at him
and tried to figure out where I'd seen him before. He had brown, shoulder
length hair and a large bushy moustache. His clothes were also quite
distinctive, with a large, red wool coat and a blue scarf. I can understand
dressing for the cold weather but this just looks tacky! Not that I'd ever tell
him that. That would be rude. I think he noticed me staring because he reached
his hand down and made a gesture for me to take it. I take it nervously and feel
the force of his arm pulling me up. Once I'm back on my feet I slightly bow my
head in gratitude. I'm aware it's quite uncommon in this city but mr Ryuji
would be pretty mad if he found out I didn't.
"T-thank
you." I stutter out weakly. The man slightly leans in closer and then looks at
my forehead. I guess he noticed the horns.
"Well now
that I know your ok." He says as he nods. "NEXT TIME WATCH WHERE YOUR GOING YOU
LITTLE TURD!!! You could seriously hurt someone or yourself with those things!."
He suddenly yells at me. I instinctively cover my horns with my hands in
embarrassment. It's even worse because a lot of people stopped to look. It
seemed like they knew who he was, which made me a little envious to be
completely honest. I still couldn't place him and he was right in front of me! "Good
grief." He huffed as he looked at the naga art on the wall. I'm not sure if he
somehow forgot I was there or if he was some kindred soul who appreciated the
art. Turns out I'm and idiot and got both wrong. "The things people put out
there these days." He says with clear disdain in his voice. I was about to
speak to him again and probably aggravate him even more when the ground started
to shake. I froze as fear gripped my heart. Shaking ground only means one
thing.
"Your
attention please. 2 C class Kaiju have descended upon zone B. Please evacuate
to the nearest Kaiju proof building in a safe and orderly fashion." The female
voice on the speaker calls out. It's calm, almost cheery voice in no way
matched the situation. Although to its credit everyone was mostly running in
the correct direction so I guess there's that. Although most of them were
clearly still scared. They probably weren't used to Kaiju attacks if they lived
in zone B. Barley any Kaiju attack this zone. I'm a bit more used to them
because of the facility but only so much.
"Hey kid!
Where are you going?!" I hear the old man yell at me as I run toward the sound
of roars. Now if we're being unnecessarily technical, I'm not supposed to be
doing this. At all. In fact I could face disciplinary action for this. But
there's a Kaiju attack in the area and I'm tired of being left on the sidelines
gosh darn it! I'm a Kaiju child sponsored by the state. I'm not supposed to be
this useless. Besides I can heal anyone who's hurt. I can't ignore it if
someone needs help right? I do wonder who that guy was though, I really feel
like I should know. I run through the now empty roads, not having to worry this
time about getting run over, so there's a silver lining I guess. The roars and
booms get louder so I'm probably getting closer. I eventually make it to where
I assume the battle is. Just around the corner of this large white building
that looks like LITERALLY EVERY OTHER BUILDING IN THE CITY! Like I understand
why it's like that, with kaiju attacks being a daily event infrastructure has
to be both sturdy and easily replaceable. But did it have to look so soulless?!
It's literally the same 50 story white cube over and over again! At least it's
a little more unique the further from the west wall you get but still! I'm jolted
out of my thoughts by the earth suddenly shaking again with a massive BOOM! Right,
yeah I can't keep trying to distract myself from what I'm supposed to do. All
I've got to do is ignore my knees shaking and my mind screaming and the
astronomically large chance that I'm going to get immediately pulverised as
soon as I turn that corner. I think I've been waiting here for five minutes.
B-but not because I'm scared or anything! Even if I'm useless in a straight
fight I can still help. I'm just psyching myself up is all. As I'm about to go
round the corner and do whatever it is I came here to do, the distinct sound of
lightning crackles through the air, causing me to jump in shock. A roar of pain
rang out soon after and then suddenly went silent as it was replaced with some
sort of sparking sound. After that all that's audible is the sound of tearing
flesh. I have no idea what's going on
but before I know it I'm running past the corner to see what the heck is
happening. As soon as I finally make it I immediately hit into something and
fall over on my rear. Seriously how does that happen twice in half an hour?! I look
up to see what I bumped into but there's nothing in front of me that I could
have hit. I also feel a slight pain on the right side of my neck. I lightly
touch it with my finger, intensifying the minute pain a bit more and see red
blood on the tip of my index finger. The reason I'm specifying the colour of my
own blood if because the rest of my hand was covered in purple blood! That's
the colour of Kaiju blood. I look down to my side and see my hand was in the
edge of a growing puddle of Kaiju blood, all flowing from the massive wounds of
a dead giant mantis. And I mean giant in every sense of the word. Just its head
was 3 times bigger than I was. It had gashes literally going all the way down
to the bottom of its chest. It's left pincer was missing but I could guess it
was similar to the right one, which was similar to a regular mantis pincer
except that this one had blades on it that resembled a chainsaw. The smoke
coming from the blades make me believe that its blades were meant to replicate
actual chainsaws. Perhaps with some added fire ability. Oh it would be amazing
to study this thing in more detail.
"You seem
impressed by our work." A soft voice spoke from above. I instinctively looked
up to see who said that and the sight was even more surprising than the mantis.
Illuminated by a golden light from the sky, an absolutely massive three headed
goat was impaled on the the mantis's left pincer. The bus sized blade had gone
right through the creatures chest and the expected purple blood was running
down it. On top of the middle head I could see the silhouette of someone
standing. They appeared to have many large tails although I couldn't really get
a good look before the figure disappeared from my very eyes.
"What on
earth?" Was all I could utter at the sight. I hadn't seen or heard any sign of
aircraft so I doubt the ranger force was the culprit here. Meaning some of my
fellow kaiju children quickly took down 2 60 foot tall kaiju. I only know a few
people who could have done this.
"My, I
didn't realise that showing of to my friends would just get me ignored. What a
world we live in hm?" A soft yet confident voice said right next to my ear. As
I felt the light weight press down on my left shoulder I see exactly who I
expect to. Sitting on my shoulder was the unique sight of a six inch tall girl with
long golden hair and pure black eyes. Her arms were covered in a soft, red
membrane that got brighter the further up her arm you got. Sprouting from her
back were two dragonfly wings that bent unnaturally to give the impression of a
flowing cape. This is the number one ranked Kaiju child in the whole training
program: Lilith the insect queen. No one knows what her last name is or if she
even has one. All that's known of her history is that she has received the
highest marks in all academic and practical tests at the facility. When she can
be bothered to do it that is.
"D-did you
do this all by yourself" I stutter out looking at her. Lilith looks back with a
blank look in her black eyes before shaking her head.
"No." As she
suddenly gives a shrug. "I needed to give Misty something to do." She says as
she gives a smug smile, seemingly confident that she could have accomplished
this by herself. I wish I had that kind of confidence.
"Wait, Misty?"
I ask. Misty is usually pretty close by when Lilith is around. Usually to make
sure she doesn't go overboard with certain things. I'm not entirely sure what
those certain things are but I always assumed it was a girl thing I just didn't
get. I should try and be more mindful of the people around me now that I think
about it.
"Has he
still not noticed me yet?" A much more firm female voice came from my right
side as I jump a little. I turn around already knowing who it is. Misty stood
half a head taller than me with arms crossed. She was giving me a very intense
stare that I couldn't really make heads or tales of. She had golden, cat like
pupils that contrasted with her brown skin and white hair.
" are you
two having a telepathic talk your leaving me out of? That's cruel you know. And
pointless." Lilith said in a teasing tone while sporting a sinister smile. She
was always quite lax like that.
" what are
you doing here Haruo? It's dangerous here. You should have come during cleanup."
Misty says, completely ignoring Lilith. I'm a little surprised she remembers my
name. We don't really talk much, just sometimes hang out in the same places
when Lilith decides to drag me places. I'm still not sure why she does that.
" Haruo was
just late again and coincidentally was in the same zone as the attack and rushed
of to help without really thinking it through" Lilith matter of factly stated
with a pleasant smile, as if she hadn't completely hit the mark on my stupid
actions. " rushing in to help people is very admirable, especially with your
power in mind. But you should really stick to the protocols ok? Let's try and
not make this a habit." She said with a gentle smile with her eyes closed. But I
could feel an almost sinister overtone from her words. Lilith was probably the
most intimidating woman I know even counting her tiny size. Her ability is
classified as insect queen, which lets her use all insect based abilities in
exchange for a insect sized body (although she's still larger than most insects
so that's a silver lining I suppose ). Obviously an incredibly versatile
ability already but she really shines with an ability she developed from ants
and bees. By contact with her cells either through a pollen she emits, a
minuscule needle she shoot's into you or just physically touching you she
basically develops a telepathic link with the target, either controlling their
Acton's or reading their minds. Combine that with her incredible intelligence
and you have a woman who knows everything about you. Luckily she has assured me
before that she doesn't use her 'hive link' without consent in non combat
scenarios. Although I think I remember Misty giving an eye roll during that
speech. Probably because Lilith has to keep repeating it to people.
"wait, how
did you two get here so quickly if you were in the facility?" I ask them, it
clicking with me that the math doesn't add up on that one. Misty and Lilith
both look at each other in surprise.
"Oh no my
wing is broken!" Lilith yelled. She must have gotten hurt during the fight. I
gently cup her in both my hands and examine her wings. There's no damage that I
can see but she obviously knows her body better than I do. I concentrate for a
moment on just my hands and a second later a pink aura starts to emit from
them. My ability is classified as heal. An incredibly basic ability that emits
an energy from my hand that basically forces the body to repair itself. I've
been told the healing energies feel incredibly good. I wouldn't know I can't
heal myself. It's an ability with no combat potential so during practical
exercises the instructor usually has me sit on the sidelines and heal other
trainees so they can go on longer. I'm useless beyond being a glorified med
kit. This is why I'm ranked lowest in the Kaiju child training program at 476. "Ah
that feels so much better! Thank you so much Haruo! I may have never flown
again if it wasn't for you. You really are a hero." Lilith says with a wink
"That was
incredibly manipulative" Misty said in a monotone voice looking disappointed at
Lilith. I don't really know what she means but I'm mostly processing the hero
comment. I felt a blush on my cheeks as a fuzzy feeling seeped up in my chest.
I always wanted to be a hero, even with my defects so hearing her call me one
was nice.
"How about
you take the day off today Haruo?" Lilith said seemingly returning the favour
for Misty ignoring her earlier as she floated in front of my face with her
newly restored wings. "I'm guessing you feel a little embarrassed about all
this and would rather not have to explain to the instructor what your doing
here. And you definitely don't want to deal with the media I'm guessing." As
she says all of this, Lilith is flawlessly dodging all the attempts Misty makes
to swat her out of the air. It's a little strange but I think this is just how
these two display affection. "But the media loves us so we'll handle that. And
me and the instructor are like two peas in a pod. I'm sure if I talk with her
she'll act like you were exactly where you were supposed to be today." She
finishes her proposal with a wink. I didn't realise Lilith and the instructor
were in such good terms. Usually the instructor just yells at Lilith for
skipping training. I could hear Misty giving a groan, I wonder why. But this
was a great opportunity she was giving me. I could head home early and get back
on with my project.
"Thank you
so much!" I say happily, which seemed to have them both taken aback by my
sudden outburst. Lilith seemed to blush slightly from this.
"Well if you
want to repay me maybe you cou-wait a second!" Lilith yelled as I ran home. It
didn't really register to me that she said anything. I was just so exited from
this opportunity my good FRIEND has given me. I run as fast as I can for 2
minutes until I'm completely out of breath. I may have forgotten to mention
that healing takes a massive toll on my stamina. To be fair nobody needs more
facts about why I suck. Luckily I'm exhausted at the train station! Where I
don't have to run, the train does it for me. Not literally of course but oh
well. When the return train comes I take the civilian car. No need to have the
other trainees and trainers ask where I've been. It's quite embarrassing given
how everyone keeps staring at my horns. I CANT HELP IT I WAS BORN WITH THEM OK!
IVE TRIED WEARING A HAT BUT IT DOEANT WORK THE HORNS JUST KNOCK IT OFF! That's
why I've been growing my hair out. My horns are only a few inches long so if I
can grow my hair long enough I should be able to hide them.
"Your
attention please. We will soon be stopping at station c. This train will also
be stopping at station d, station e, station f, station g…" the same voice as
the announcement earlier continued to go on. I'm beginning to wish I could just
fly around the city like Lilith, that sounds awesome. But I can't. I was was
born with tiny horns and nothing else. I feel like I should be more jealous of
her than I am. But she's usually pretty nice to me, even when she drags me
along with her friends for shopping. It would be nice if I actually got a say
in it but whatever. I take out a book from my bag. If I'm going to be on here
for another hour I might as well read some mariner satellite! This is one of
the 50 manga that were preserved before the Kaiju started attacking and my
personal favourite. The story has been reprinted countless times. This is my 17th
re read of the series and I'm currently on the spaghetti war arc. The writing
takes a dive but the arts the best it's ever been! I really like Mariner satellites
outfit changing to look closer to the concept art, with her crown turning from
gold to glass and her cards looking like solar panels. Shame it leads to the
BIGGEST COP OUT IN THE SERIES WHEN SHE JUST THROWS HER SATELLITE AT LORD PASTA
TO DEFEAT HIM THAT'S NOT HOW HER POWERS WORK AAAAAHHHHH!!! "Your attention
please. This train will be stopping at station w. This train will also be
stopping at…" I put my book away and walked off the train, I must have lost
track of time while I was reading. I walk through zone W and smell the fish in
the air. Zone W is right next to one of the docks so fish are naturally quite a
common scent. Fishing and sea travel in general are a safe but chaotic
business. Since aquatic Kaiju aren't a thing attacks are a lot less likely to
occur the closer you get to the east coast. But since the government is almost
exclusively focused on defeating the Kaiju most of the money goes towards the
west. That's also why the facility is so close to the western border, even
though it's a massive pain for me. They want the Kaiju children to have as much
filled experience as possible. Or at least the ones with more fire power than a
wet raccoon who's both dehydrated and drowning. But I can't move closer because
the hill me and my brother live on is where our mom and dad arrived. They
fought with their lives so we could live after Japan fell. Or at least that's
what Satoshi tells me. I wouldn't know I was a baby those things can't even
remember what a banana is. As I make it to the edge of town I make it to the hill.
At the top of this hill is a house that is very unlike the others in this area.
Unlike the wooden shacks this one is more like the buildings over at the west, being
basically a white cube the size of a house. It stands on the very top of the
hill right by the side of the cliff. If you fell of you'd certainly find your
way to the beach. Although I would recommend the actual public path. Apparently
satoshi had to really climb the ranks to get this built here. I'm also pretty
sure the locals aren't a fan so that's embarrassing. I Walk up the hill to the
front of the house, it looks like a featureless white wall until I get right in
front of it. A black dot appeared slightly above my head on the wall, that's
the scanner. I get on my tip toes and look into the scanner. Soon afterwards a rectangle
slides into the rest of the white to let me in. Even if I dislike the
architecture I can admit that the doors are cool. I walk into the living room
and see that no one is home. To my right is the kitchen and the spiral
staircase to the second floor was to my left. The ocean is quite calm from what
I can see from the large windows. I immediately head to the staircase to go to
my room. Satoshi's room was in the basement because it makes less noise when he
trains. If he's down there he won't be out until he has to go to work and I
won't see him then either so it hardly makes any difference if he is here or
not I guess. I know I shouldn't be too angry given his job helps provide for us
but sometimes it seems like he cares more about fighting Kaiju than he does
about me. Not that I would blame him. I suck worse than a mosquito in a blood
bank. I walk up the stairs and down the hall to the door at the end. I open the
door and walk into my room. I take my manga out my bag and put it back on its
place on my book shelf next to the other 35 volumes of mariner satellite. I
take off my uniform and fold up the green vest and grey trousers and place them
on my bed. They contrast quite a bit with the red bed sheets. I put on some
more casual clothes with a pink hoody and blue shorts. I then walk over to my
desk by the window to the ocean and get in my knees. I was able to save up to
keep a mini fridge that I keep under my desk. One benefit of no one else coming
in here is that it's not too hard to hide my project. Which is good given that
if anyone knew about this my life would be over.
"Let's have
another look then." I say to myself as I open the fridge and gently pull my
project out.it sits on a plate I took from the kitchen, ever so slightly beating
up and down. As I place my project on my desk I take a small scalpel and a
plastic fork I also took from the kitchen. On my desk is the most valuable item
to the scientific community.
A still
intact Kaiju heart.
Contrary to
its name it didn't look like a typical heart, it was an apple size glowing red
orb. The fact that its red is pretty important given that a dead one turns
blue. Meaning this one was likely mortally wounded but was somehow able to
escape before completely degenerating. Its size indicates it was likely quite
small for a Kaiju as the cores size is usually relative to its greater form. I
found it washed up on the shore 2 weeks ago. I genuinely still can't believe
that I found this. Kaiju are the the most studied creatures in human history,
given that they are essentially have been at war with all of humanity for at
least 250 years. And the Kaiju heart is seen as the key to fully understanding
them. A Kaiju heart acts as both the brain and actual heart of a Kaiju. They
possess no other vital organs for survival. This small organ is somehow able to
do all this and provide energy despite the fact that Kaiju don't breath. There
used to be a theory that Kaiju got they're energy from photosynthesis due to a
plant based Kaiju attacking five years ago. But it was later concluded that
this was an additional feature to this specific subject and not natural to the
rest of the species. They've been around for so long and yet we still know so
little about them like where they come from. That's why I'm always so
interested when we go over Kaiju biology at the facility. Which is why I've
been trying to study this core. In secret of course. I'm aware that I'm in the minority
in my opinions on Kaiju and would probably be locked up if anyone knew I was
doing this. "Alright Allister, sorry about this, but I know your going to be a
big help to people." I gently slide the scalpel along the surface, leaving an
open cut. All Kaiju hearts are slightly squishy but this one goes even further.
It's like cutting open a gummy bear. I feel a little bad for this but if I can
find something here I might become worth something! I use the plastic fork to
pull at the cut to open it wider, taking a look inside. Inside the orb are
hundreds of layers like an onion. It appears there's a faint red glow at the
centre that gets dimmer the more layers up you go. That's got to be the source
of the cores energy. I feel like a mad scientist doing this. Maybe I should do
an evil laugh. "AHAHAHAHA!" As soon as I hear myself I cringe. "Lilith would
definitely tease me if she saw that." I say with a slight blush. After 2 hours
of work I decide that I should put the heart away. I gently place my hands on
its smooth surface and focus on my hands. The pink aura radiates from my palms
and the orb repairs itself. Maybe the healing feeling can be a little reward
for his help. Hey that rhymed! Before I put the core away I sit down on my bed
to catch my bearings. I feel a little dizzy after that bout of healing. I
should probably go make dinner now. That way Satoshi can ignore it again. YAY!
As I'm about to get up and head to the kitchen, I hear shaking from the desk. I
look over and see the plate is shaking with the core on top. As it's shaking
it's getting closer to the edge. Wait a second… CRUD! I dive as the plate and core
fall off the desk. Unfortunately I'm too slow and miss them. They crash to the
ground, the plate shattering while the heart bounces and then rolls to the
right. Gosh darn it! I should have seen this coming! I'm about to reach for the
heart when something really weirds happens. The red glowing started to fade and
intensifying like a heart beat. And after a few seconds each beat generated a
bit of muscle tissue. With each beat more and more bio mass was added, soon
bones were being added as well. Eventually after a full minute in which I was
too shocked to move, the 'transformation' finished to reveal a regular black
cat. Wait what? I was expecting something a little more exotic than an actual
regular animal. It turned its head towards me and stared at me with its green
eyes. "Hey little buddy." I say quietly as I slowly inch towards it, it doesn't
seem too dangerous. I should probably get my foot out of my mouth first as a
third, amber eye opens on its forehead. "Geez!" I yell out instinctively
because no I was wrong it's definitely a Kaiju! It immediately dashes towards
the window, scurrying over the bed to get there. Luckily the window is closed
so it should be fine. Once again I should get my foot out of my mouth as the
cat just pushes the window open with its paw. It proceeds to jump out the
window. I hurry to look out the window to see if it's ok and see it
effortlessly jumping from different rocks to get down the cliff towards the
beach. No! I just unleashed a small Kaiju on the town I need to get it! I
obviously can't climb down the cliff so I'll have to take the long way and hope
I can catch it! I run out my room and down the stairs, nearly tripping along
the way. I press the button next to the door and it opens and rush down the
hill. The suns started to set now so I'm on a time limit. It'll be way harder
to see the pitch black cat if it's night. Once I'm down the hill I turn right
and rush to the public path to the beach.l run past some of the older fishers
who are returning with their hauls for the day. I think they said hello to me
but I'm in too much of a hurry to respond. For what it's worth I feel really
bad about it. I eventually make it down to the beach and luckily there's no one
else here. That should make things easier, contrasted with the now pink sky and
sea was the silhouette of the black cat. It's amber eye piercing with its gaze.
I start taking slow steps towards it as to not scare it off. It hasn't hurt
anyone yet so maybe I don't have to fight it. It seems almost identical to a
normal black cat so maybe it has the same strength as one. This might be the
only Kaiju on the planet that I could actually beat. I don't care if that's
pathetic let me have this! "Allister I understand you might be a little miffed
and your completely justified not to trust me but I still really need you to
come with me. We can't have anyone else seeing you. People around here tend to
not take kindly to Kaiju, what with the whole constant city threatening rampages."
I say trying to appeal to this cat as I get closer. When I'm about a meter away
from it the cat immediately bolts straight towards me. With my incredible
powers of post cognition I leap for it. Unfortunately I miss as it suddenly
does a zig zag movement to dodge me. As I fall into the sand I quickly shuffle
to look back and see where the cat went. It was running right into the cave
that's etched into the cliff. It's closed at the moment. I would have mentioned
it earlier but I was just a tad busy. The cave is said to have contained a
mountain of diamonds back in the day so it's pretty common for people to go
have a search. Eventually so many accidents occurred that the government had to
restrict access to certain dates. Dates that don't include right now so if I'm
caught I'll be in twice as much trouble and everyone will hate me forever! I
clap my hands on my cheeks to get myself ready and then run inside the cave. If
I do this too slowly I'll convince myself not to go at all. Especially since I
can't see anything! I've been in this cave quite a few times so I can mostly
remember the layout meaning I'm not immediately going to fall to my death. Once
again, silver linings. I trek along the narrow ledge, holding onto the safety
railing the entire time. But not because I'm scared. Just to make that clear. After
five minutes of wandering I hear purring from in front of me. I doubt there's another
cat just coincidentally here so I step forward and reach down. But instead of
fur I feel something squishy, like a marshmallow. It felt like some sort of
rod. Confused obviously, I pick it up. Given how dark it is I can't really see any
details so that's really frustrating. It could be some sort of toy left here by
a child during open hours. I guess I'll see later. Now to find the cat.
"Understood.
Commencing operation." A sharp, calculated voice pierces through the darkness
and I immediately freeze. Who was that. Why are they here? What operation? Do
they know I'm here?! I quickly got an answer to my question as something
slashes my left wrist. I immediately fall back on my but, the pain from the
fall incredibly minor compared to my now bleeding wrist. I instinctively drop
the rod and place my right hand just above my left wrist and activate heal. The
pink light comes from my hand but the wound doesn't heal. YEAH OBVIOUSLY I CANT
HEAL MYSELF DAMN IT WHY DID I DO THAT IM GOING TO DIE OH MY GOD!!! After a
second I reach my right arm out in front of me as a male shift flashlight. I
would've done it sooner if heal wasn't so draining. What I see terrified me.
Illuminated by the pink light are 2 pitch black silhouettes that resemble
humans. The main distinction was the 2 triangles on top of their heads, the
tails below the waists and the glowing green eyes. Also something that doesn't
really distinguish them from humans but might still be an important detail was
that THEY HAVE KNIVES! "Show us your worth." One of them said, not that I could
tell which one. What on earth are they even talking about. If I have any worth
I'd love to know about it. Im too scared to even speak. I try reaching for something, anything that
might keep me alive. But as soon as I do, one of them rushes over faster than I
thought people could move. Another point to them not being human. I feel the
knife press against my throat as it stares me dead in the eye, allowing me to
see that it was just pure green, with no no iris or pupil. Which I might be
able to appreciate more if I wasn't ABOUT TO DIE! No I don't want to die yet I
had so much more I wanted to do. I haven't made paid Lilith and Misty back for
their kindness or grown closer to satoshi or proven myself to anyone! I can't
just die in a dark cave crying. I have to be a hero like mariner satellite!
"STOP!!!" I
yell as all of a suddenly a pink light shines from my right hand, way more
intense than usual. I look to my right despite the tense situation and see that
the rod is suddenly in my hand, glowing. Thinks to the light I can see it
clearly now. It was about the size of my forearm, with a pink squish base being
constructed by what look to be models of white snakes. At the tip appeared to
be a tiny crown of white wings. As me and the knife guys all stared at it in
awe large tentacles emerged from it and started wrapping around me. It wasn't
even a second before I was completely covered. I think the shadowy guy had
jumped back at this time but I can't really think about that as the pink light
suddenly got so bright that I thought I was going blind. All I could think
about was how I didn't want to die yet. Just as quickly as they had appeared
the tentacles retracted back into the 'wand', but that's not quite my concern.
My clothes were gone! Ok, I wasn't naked but I'm still pretty confused. My
casual clothes had been replaced with pink, soft fabric that felt like spiders
silk. My hands were covered with pink gloves with white edges that looked like
they were made of leaves.attached to my shoulders was a white cape made of
feather and on my chest was a red heart symbol. I had white trousers and pink
knee high boots. "WHAT THE FUCK?!" I yell out on instinct because HOW DID THIS
HAPPEN?! Why am I dressed as a magical girl?! Where did my clothes go?! Where
are the other guys?! As if on cue the knife guys leapt at me from the shadows
of the cave, entering the circle of pink light I was unknowingly generating. I
quickly raise my hand to try and stop them only to be sent flying back by a
massive force from the wand still in my right hand. I was sent all the way out
of the cave and even into the water. Oh cool I just got a new outfit and I
already ruined it. Great. Great. Looking at the cave I see two massive glowing
eyes staring at me. As it slithered, yes slithered, out of the cave I got a
good look at it. It was a thirty foot long snake with multi rainbow coloured
scales. Wait a second. IS THAT A SMALLER RAINBOW NAGA?! But how?! That was just
graffiti art. Why was it in a random cave?! I raise the wand up to the creature
in a desperate bid to defend myself. But I seemed to work better than I was
expecting as the create was quickly sucked back into the tiny wing crown on
wand and disappeared. WHAT WAS THAT?! Did naga come out of the wand? Did I just
suck him back in? Can I summon Kaiju?! I hear falling rocks and look back at
the cliff. The two knife guys are staring down at me from the top of the cliff.
I guess they survived the big snake, that's good. As soon as I move they just
vanish with the wind. Like some sort of man-bat. I take a minute to collect
myself which I think is valid given what just happened. Standing up in the water
I look down to get a look at my face. It looks like the magic wand also comes
with free pink eye contacts and hair dye.i also seem to have a larger version
of the wands feather crown on my head. So that's pretty neat. So it appears that I
have found a magic wand that has transformed me into some sort of magical being
who can summon Kaiju, the biggest enemies of humanity. And I almost died. This
is the best day of my life!
