"So… besides Android 17 and Android 18, there was an even more terrifying monster—Cell—hidden in the future?"
After hearing almost the entire truth, Trunks stood frozen in shock.
He had always believed that the androids were the ultimate disaster of this world.
He never imagined that behind them lurked something even worse.
Yet at the same time, he felt fortunate.
According to Vegeta, the future Cell who traveled to the past had already been eliminated.
Which meant—
His father possessed the power to defeat all of them.
Still, doubts lingered.
If the past had changed…
Why hadn't this future changed?
Vegeta read his thoughts instantly.
He briefly explained the concept of parallel timelines—the branching structure of time-space he and Bulma had theorized.
The moment Trunks heard it, he understood.
Despite it being his first time encountering such a theory, he absorbed it quickly.
Bulma's blood ran in his veins.
"So… the timeline you were originally supposed to arrive in should've been Cell's future," Trunks said with a bitter smile. "But for some unknown reason, you ended up in ours."
Vegeta didn't respond.
Because it was true.
He hadn't come specifically to save them.
It was coincidence.
Fate.
Call it what you will.
"This isn't a place to linger," Vegeta said. "Pick up Gohan. We're going to see your mother."
Trunks suppressed the flicker of disappointment in his heart.
No matter the reason—
His father was here.
That alone changed everything.
Just as he was about to lift Gohan, Vegeta stopped him.
"Drop your Super Saiyan state first."
"With Gohan's current condition, even your residual aura could injure him."
Trunks stiffened.
He immediately focused and reined in his power.
The golden aura faded.
His hair returned to black.
He swayed slightly from exhaustion but steadied himself.
"Remember that feeling," Vegeta instructed. "Your control is crude. Even transformed, you waste too much energy."
"Yes, Father."
The word came naturally.
It filled Trunks with warmth he had never known.
Vegeta watched him silently for a moment, then placed a hand on his shoulder.
He locked onto Bulma's ki.
Instant Transmission.
The ruined battlefield vanished.
They reappeared before a round house on a coastal cliff.
Trunks blinked in disbelief.
"This is… home?"
"Yes," Vegeta replied calmly. "Instant Transmission. Lock onto ki. Move instantly."
Trunks' eyes shone.
"That's incredible…"
"Want to learn?" Vegeta smirked slightly.
"Really?!"
"Yes."
Before Trunks could react further—
The door burst open.
"Trunks? Gohan? What happened—"
Bulma stepped outside.
Her words stopped mid-sentence.
Her eyes locked onto the tall figure beside her son.
Time seemed to freeze.
Fifteen years.
Fifteen years since she last saw that face.
"Ve… Vegeta…"
Tears streamed down instantly.
She recognized him without hesitation.
How could she not?
He was her husband.
Vegeta inhaled slowly.
This was not the Bulma from his timeline.
This was the woman who had endured fifteen years of apocalypse.
He didn't know what to say.
Bulma rushed forward.
He instinctively caught her.
She sobbed against him, shaking.
Trunks stood silently, watching.
After a long time, Bulma pulled back, wiping her eyes.
"You're real… right? I'm not hallucinating?"
"I am Vegeta," he said. "But not the Vegeta of this timeline."
"I'm from March 15th, Age 764."
Her mind worked instantly.
"Then… my future self succeeded with the Time Machine?"
"Yes."
Inside, Vegeta briefly explained everything—the past, the branching futures, Cell, and what had happened.
Bulma listened in stunned silence.
"So my future self died protecting you…" Trunks said quietly.
"I'm not fragile, Father. She made that choice."
Vegeta glanced at him.
Not weak in spirit.
Just inexperienced.
Bulma watched father and son speaking, a long-buried dream coming to life before her eyes.
Then embarrassment crept in.
If he was from Age 764…
She hadn't even begun a relationship with him yet in that timeline.
Her earlier embrace…
Was it inappropriate?
"Twenty years ago," she said awkwardly, trying to change the subject. "I must look old to you now."
Vegeta studied her.
Yes, she had aged.
Wrinkles marked the corners of her eyes.
Her hair carried faint strands of silver.
But the maturity in her gaze—
The strength forged by hardship—
That was something her younger self did not yet possess.
"Truth or lie?" he asked.
"Truth."
"You've aged," he said calmly. "But you're more beautiful now."
"In my eyes, even if your hair turned completely white, you'd still be beautiful."
Bulma's cheeks flushed.
She hadn't expected that answer.
This Vegeta…
Was gentler than the one she remembered.
What she didn't notice—
Nor did Vegeta—
Was that some of the fine wrinkles near her eyes subtly faded.
The immortality blessing granted by Porunga was taking effect.
Across timelines.
Because to Vegeta—
She was still his wife.
Trunks cleared his throat awkwardly.
"I'll check on Master Gohan."
He left quickly, giving them space.
"This child…" Bulma murmured.
"He's giving us privacy," Vegeta said bluntly.
She looked down, flustered.
"You don't have to treat me like… your Bulma. I'm not from your time."
"You are Bulma," Vegeta said firmly. "My woman."
"You've endured enough."
That was all it took.
The dam broke.
Bulma leaned against him, sobbing uncontrollably.
Fifteen years of fear.
Loneliness.
Survival.
All poured out.
Vegeta held her steady.
"Cry," he said quietly.
"With me here, this world will change."
"No more running."
"No more fear."
"I promise."
