Chapter 100 - Chapter 99: Gohan Loses an Arm — Trunks: Dad… Father?!!

March 15, Age 784.

Earth.

A brutal battle was underway.

The fighters: Gohan, Android 17, and Android 18.

Under normal circumstances, Gohan could defeat either android in a one-on-one fight.

But in the previous major battle, he had lost his left arm while protecting Trunks.

Now, even against one opponent, he could only suppress them briefly. Victory was impossible.

The androids possessed infinite energy.

They never tired.

Before losing his arm, Gohan could at least fight them to a stalemate before retreating from exhaustion.

Now?

He could only unleash less than eighty percent of his peak power.

Still, he chose to fight.

He knew that if he didn't step forward, more cities would fall.

More people would die.

He could have hidden.

But his conscience wouldn't allow it.

The battle intensified.

Gohan went from overpowering them…

To barely holding on…

To being hunted down mercilessly.

Blow after blow landed.

His body collapsed into the mud.

As his consciousness faded, memories flashed before him.

His mother.

Piccolo.

Krillin.

Yamcha.

Tien.

And finally—

Goku.

"Gohan… you're late this time."

His father's voice was warm.

Gohan smiled faintly.

"Yes… it felt like a long dream…"

He stepped forward in that peaceful illusion.

Everyone was there.

Smiling.

Waiting.

Back in reality—

Android 17 and 18 glanced at his fallen body.

They didn't even confirm his death.

"Boring."

With the storm rolling in, they left.

Moments later—

Heavy rain poured from the sky.

The ruined city was drenched.

But even the rain couldn't wash away the devastation.

Thunder roared.

Lightning streaked across the dark clouds.

And then—

A figure descended from the sky and dropped to his knees beside Gohan.

Trunks.

He had been knocked unconscious earlier by Gohan to keep him from interfering.

Too weak.

Unable to transform into a Super Saiyan.

Only a burden.

Now awake, he saw Gohan lying lifeless in the mud.

"Gohan…!"

He broke down, covering his face.

Regret.

Anger.

Despair.

All of it erupted at once.

He screamed to the heavens—

And transformed into a Super Saiyan.

Golden aura burst outward.

But it was too late.

If he had transformed earlier—

Maybe he could have bought time.

Maybe—

"I'm sorry… I was useless…"

"I swear—I'll avenge you!"

His fists trembled.

But he didn't rush off.

He remembered Gohan's teachings.

If he died recklessly, humanity would truly have no hope left.

He needed to become stronger.

He needed to endure.

"Hmph. Useless indeed."

A cold voice cut through the rain.

Trunks' heart skipped.

He spun around, searching frantically.

He was so shaken he forgot to sense ki.

Then—

The rain abruptly stopped.

As if held back by an invisible force.

He heard movement behind him.

When he turned—

A tall figure had already crouched beside Gohan.

A gloved hand pressed against Gohan's chest.

"Who are you?!" Trunks roared. "What are you doing?!"

His Super Saiyan aura surged violently.

It shook the ruins.

But it didn't move the stranger at all.

"Hmph. Is that all?"

The man's voice was filled with disdain.

Too weak.

That was Vegeta's only assessment.

Yes.

Vegeta.

He had traveled through time.

He expected Cell's timeline.

Instead, he arrived at the moment Gohan fell.

A step too late.

But not entirely.

Gohan was not truly dead.

He hovered between life and death.

Vegeta pressed his palm down firmly.

He forced Gohan's heart to beat again.

At the same time, he injected pure Saiyan energy into his body.

Stimulated by it—

Gohan groaned faintly.

"The dream is pleasant," Vegeta said coldly. "But are you planning to stay there forever?"

Gohan's eyes remained closed.

Vegeta used mental probing.

As expected.

The boy was trapped in a beautiful illusion.

Between life and death, some entered such states.

"Gohan's alive?!" Trunks gasped, stepping forward.

But one sharp glance from Vegeta froze him in place.

That was when he finally saw the man's face clearly.

His breathing stopped.

It was—

Impossible.

"You… that's… Father?!" Trunks stammered.

His father had died when he was young.

But he had seen the photos.

The recordings.

There was no mistake.

It was the same face.

The same pride.

The same eyes.

"You want to say I died long ago," Vegeta said calmly. "Correct."

"The Vegeta of this timeline is dead."

"But I am not him."

"I am Vegeta from twenty years in the past."

"Time travel brought me here."

Trunks' mind exploded.

"Then… Mother's plan worked?!"

"You're really Father—from the past—to help us defeat the androids?!"

His voice trembled with excitement.

Vegeta frowned slightly.

So Bulma in this timeline had already begun time machine research.

That explained part of it.

"Yes," Vegeta said flatly. "You can think of it that way."

"Father—! Is Gohan going to survive?"

"He won't die," Vegeta replied. "But whether he wakes up depends on him."

"He's trapped in a mental illusion. Between life and death."

"A vegetative state… if you want simple terms."

Trunks stiffened.

"You mean—if he doesn't wake up—"

"He'll awaken," Vegeta cut him off sharply. "And if he doesn't, I'll handle it."

"Let him rest for now."

Trunks nodded quickly.

Tears welled up again.

Vegeta turned away sharply.

"You're a grown man. Stop crying."

"As Vegeta's son—don't disgrace yourself."

Trunks wiped his eyes immediately.

"Yes!"

Yet strangely—

He felt happy.

For the first time in his life—

His father stood before him.

Alive.

Even if from another timeline.

"Father… Mother will be so happy to see you."

Then his expression shifted.

He realized something.

"You know about the future. About me. About Gohan."

"That means—someone from even further ahead must have traveled back first…"

He was thinking.

Connecting the pieces.

Vegeta glanced at him.

Not bad.

At least the boy had brains.

"Yes," Vegeta answered directly. "Another future exists."

"And things are more complicated than you think."

Trunks swallowed hard.

The storm clouds began to disperse.

The rain stopped entirely.

The ruined city stood silent.

Between timelines—

Father and son faced each other for the first time.

And the future—

Had just changed.
