Chapter 5: Infinite Wealth. Konan, Are You Envious?
Tenzo looked at Kanna, who had an expression of pure, innocent bliss. He felt like ten thousand alpacas were stampeding through his mind.
He, a dignified Elite Jonin, had just been completely dominated by a little loli. This was an embarrassment of the highest order.
"Kanna, you can go back for now. When you come back next time, I'll prepare even more snacks for you, okay?"
Yuri Kai said dotingly, patting Kanna's hair.
To be honest, Yuri Kai wanted to keep Kanna by his side. Unfortunately, his current ninja rank was nowhere near enough to support her manifestation for a long period. At his current Genin level, the highest-level combatant he could summon was only equivalent to a regular Jonin, like Kanna in her human form.
An Elite Jonin-level summon, like Misaka, would be forcibly sent back after only a few seconds. Even Kanna could only be out for a short burst of time.
"Looks like I absolutely have to complete the main quests as fast as possible to raise my level," he thought.
Yuri Kai silently schemed, trying to figure out how to join the ANBU, complete the main quest, and quickly get promoted to Chunin.
Kanna nodded in blissful enjoyment, her eyes squinting into a happy line. She gave a heavy "Mhm!" and then disappeared.
"Alright, spit it out. What does the ANBU want with me?"
After Kanna vanished, Yuri Kai refocused his gaze on Tenzo.
After what had just happened, how could Tenzo dare to treat Yuri Kai like a rookie Genin anymore? He spoke in a tone of equality.
"By order of the Lord Hokage, you are being specially recruited into the ANBU. Do you accept?"
"Join the ANBU?"
Yuri Kai was stunned. He had never expected that he, a mere Genin, would receive a special recruitment order from the Hokage to join the ANBU.
Yuri Kai knew perfectly well that to join the ANBU, a ninja had to be at least a Chunin. Not only that, they had to go through rigorous screening to ensure 100% loyalty.
And yet, he had just been handed the opportunity this easily.
But after thinking about it for a moment, Yuri Kai relaxed. Who was he? In the Hokage's eyes, he was the perfect tool. Wasn't a special recruitment perfectly normal for a tool?
As for whether to accept... did he even need to think about it? Of course he would! He had a main quest to complete!
At this point, Yuri Kai was about to burst out laughing. He had been wondering how he was going to get into the ANBU, and just like that, the opportunity had delivered itself right to his doorstep. It was like someone handing you a pillow when you're sleepy or a bun when you're hungry.

"So this is a Chunin? It's really so much stronger than a Genin!"
Yuri Kai's face filled with excitement.
At that moment, the system's voice sounded again, initiating the next main quest.

After receiving Yuri Kai's affirmative answer, Tenzo took out a Sealing Scroll, handed over some ANBU-related items, and left.
When Tenzo reappeared, he was already in the Hokage Building.
"Well? How did the assessment go?"
"Lord Hokage, you knew all along that he could use the [Summoning Technique], didn't you?"
Tenzo looked at the Third Hokage, who just smiled without speaking, and felt completely exasperated. The Hokage had totally set him up!
But Hiruzen Sarutobi's next words left Tenzo completely baffled.
"Hehe, that child's summon is highly unusual. It's a lightning-type, humanoid summoned beast with at least the strength of an Elite Jonin. That's why I wanted to specially recruit him into the ANBU."

Yuri Kai said faintly as he walked through the wide underground world of Konoha. He had assumed that the ANBU, like its name ("Dark Side"), would be filled with a dark and gloomy atmosphere. But now, it seemed he had overthought it.
Still, Yuri Kai's eyes kept darting around, scanning his surroundings. According to the scroll Tenzo gave him yesterday, the ANBU was supposed to have a place specifically for its members to learn ninjutsu. He wondered if there were any A-rank ninjutsu in there.
"When I get a chance later, I have to go look. I still have a quest to complete."
With this in mind, Yuri Kai followed the instructions and arrived at a spacious underground room.
When he got there, ten people were already gathered.
Seven of them, like him, were new recruits. Two others were veteran ANBU members, and they were also Special Jonin.
As for the last person, it was none other than the ANBU Captain, Tenzo.
By now, all nine of the other ANBU members, everyone except Yuri Kai, were already lined up in neat formation, awaiting orders.
Seeing Yuri Kai arrive late, the nine of them glared at him, their faces full of displeasure.
They had been waiting here for ages, all for this one person, and yet he still had the nerve to walk in at a leisurely pace. Did he have no shame?
Most importantly, it was one thing for them to wait, but he had actually made Captain Tenzo wait! This was the ANBU Captain, a man whose power was close to Kage-level! How dare this newcomer make him wait?
Instantly, the glares directed at Yuri Kai became so sharp it was as if they wanted to slice him into a thousand pieces.
