Evelin's POV
My eyes narrowed. "So you're telling me I lost the bet?"
Jimmy moved closer, eating up the space between us. "If you don't want this, just say one word. Tell me you still trust me. Say you want us back together."
"We don't work. I can't trust you completely," I said, my voice cutting through the air. "And you honestly think this island can keep me here?"
I could find a way off if I wanted to. Just needed more time.
"Trust someone completely?"
Jimmy let out a harsh laugh. "Really, who in this world trusts anyone without reservations?"
"My parents did," I shot back. "They trusted each other without fear, stuck together no matter what. I told you before—that's what I want."
After my own marriage crashed and burned, I knew how rare what my parents had was.
Made me want it even more.
"Jimmy, from day one, I told you exactly what I was looking for," I said.
