Chapter 34 - Chapter 32

Two months passed.

UA resumed.

It was quiet.

Too quiet.

The kind of quiet that crawls under your skin.

And somewhere in that silence… I realized I missed Nana-san's scolding echoing in the back of my mind.

Her voice had become such a constant that its absence felt wrong, like a missing heartbeat.

And the girls?

Well… things got interesting the moment they found out what happened with Melissa — and the fact that she was now staying at my house.

"My life is becoming a cliché hentai…" I groaned more times than I'd ever admit out loud.

But despite the chaos at home, things moved forward.

I received my provisional license, joined Endeavor's Agency, and finally began training One For All properly.

Blackwhip came naturally — almost suspiciously naturally — but I avoided using it in public. The world wasn't ready for that yet… and neither was I.

Meanwhile, I kept trying to track down Overhaul.

For Eri.

But without his real name, I was grasping at smoke.

I regretted not memorizing it when I had the chance. That guilt gnawed at me every night.

And then…

That's when I met Mirio Togata — UA's brightest light.

His presence alone was blinding. Even his footsteps sounded cheerful.

The guy radiated confidence — not cockiness — just pure, unfiltered energy.

His quirk?

Insane.

He challenged the entire Class 1-A to a duel.

At first, I genuinely thought he was full of himself.

But the moment we started?

My opinion did a 180 so fast I nearly snapped my neck.

Fighting him felt like trying to punch a missile mid-flight.

He phased, vanished, reappeared, slipped through our guard like water.

For ten whole minutes he didn't let a single one of us breathe.

He was dog walking us. There's no other way to describe it.

But eventually…

He slipped.

Just a tiny delay — one microsecond too long.

Kacchan and I caught it immediately.

One weakness.

One small moment where his body wasn't intangible.

"That's it," Kacchan snarled. "Get ready to fall, blondie."

I lunged first, catching his arm the instant he solidified.

Using his momentum, I pivoted and threw him across the mat.

Kacchan followed up with an explosion to keep him off-balance, sending him flying.

Mirio landed on his back with a heavy thud… then blinked.

Then laughed.

"Wooooow! So this is the future of UA, huh? Amazing! That's a first for me!"

His sincerity hit harder than any of his punches.

After the match, we sat side-by-side, panting, drenched in sweat.

We laughed like idiots.

He really was a good guy… the kind of person who made you feel brighter just by standing next to him.

One day, during a patrol with Endeavor, I called out

"Endeavor-san."

He turned slightly, flames crackling along his shoulders. "What is it, Overdrive?"

"The crime rate dropped significantly these past few days."

"Yeah," he grunted.

"Thanks to a certain someone."

"Who? Shoto? He's been doing well lately."

I stared him dead in the eyes.

"…Are you serious right now?"

He actually looked confused.

Like genuinely confused why I was glaring at him.

"Endeavor-san, I've been working myself to the bone. Night patrols, double shifts… I need a paid leave."

"…Fine. Take a week off. You deserve that much."

"That's it? No argument? No shouting?"

That was… unlike him.

We argued constantly — that was literally one of the conditions I set when joining his agency that I get to have a say in almost everything.

"You've grown, Midoriya. Far more than I expected," he said, voice low.

"With All Might active again, crime is dropping. But soon, I'll surpass your favorite hero too."

I snorted. "You know… you're not that bad. Shoto told me you used to be kind of… a piece of trash.I thought so too in the begin.. But you seem changed somehow."

"…Midoriya, can I talk to you about something?"

"Yeah, since you approved my leave and all."

"You never change." He sighed deeply. "You know about Shoto's childhood, right?"

"…Yeah. I got the gist from Shoto and Fuyumi-san."

He exhaled — long, heavy, heavy enough that even his flames dimmed.

"I married for quirk compatibility. I was obsessed with surpassing All Might. I pushed my first son, Toya… too hard. Before I realized my mistakes… I lost him."

Toya.

Dabi.

The truth weighed bitterly on my tongue, but I swallowed it.

"I became violent with Shoto to prove I wasn't at fault. My wife broke. My family shattered. And now… it's too late. They all hate me."

"You're opening up to me a lot," I said quietly. "I'm just a kid, you know."

"I feel like I can talk to you. You're mature for your age… maybe because you're All Might's son."

"YOU STILL BELIEVE THAT!? I even showed you my dad's picture!"

"It's never too late, Endeavor-san," I said gently. "You can still go back. It'll be hard… but not impossible. And All Might isn't my only favorite hero."

"…Midoriya?"

"You're my favorite hero too."

He froze.

I smirked. "All Might is still No.1 though. You're No.2 in my book."

"You brat—"

He stepped closer, towering over me, and roughly ruffled my hair.

"Midoriya… how about becoming my son-in-law? Fuyumi is only four years older. You're acquainted. She inherited my good looks. Nothing strange about it."

While he kept talking, I simply… vanished.

"Sorry, Endeavor-san! Got work to do! I'll cover your shift after my week off!"

He blinked at the empty space where I'd been.

"…How did he escape?"

NO way I'm letting him find out I'm already dating his daughter.

Along with two others.

If he ever discovers the truth, I'm pretty sure he'll actually use Prominence Burn on me..

During my week off, I set one goal:

Find Overhaul. Save Eri.

If All For One recruits him…

If he steals Eri's quirk…

It's over.

Completely over.

I won't let that route happen.

After a month of searching, digging, and investigating…before my week off..

I finally found it.

Kai Chisaki.

His real name.

I whispered it to myself like a promise, a threat, a vow.

"Kai Chisaki… I'll find you."

I looked out toward the horizon.

"And I'll save Eri. No matter what."
