Chapter 40 - Chapter 38

…after that I returned home.

I didn't talk to Mellisia… again.

She might be mad at me.

I'll talk to her after dinner.

After eating… I lost consciousness.

Shit.

I forgot… she's… yandere—I'm so screwed..

Voices drifted through the darkness.

I could hear Mom and Mellisia speaking… faintly.

Their words blurred together, soft and distant, like they were coming from the bottom of a deep well.

I couldn't hear what they were talking about—only the tone.

Worried.

Gentle.

Careful.

And the smug on mellisia face..

The next morning, I woke up… with Mellisia by my side.

Yeah.

I can imagine what happened.

I tried to get up from the bed, but my body screamed in protest.

Every muscle felt heavy, sore, drained.

Where did all my strength from yesterday go…?

I shifted, trying to push her away—

But she suddenly woke up.

"You're not going anywhere, Izuku," she said firmly, her arms tightening before I could move.

"No matter how much you try to push me… or others… away, I still love you.

I didn't love you because of OFA.

I love you because you're you."

She stayed on top of me, looking straight into my eyes, refusing to let me hide.

"We can still make it through this. I'll make you support items—items that can still make you a hero." she smiled while saying that..

I tried to push her away… such a nice girl.

(The same girl who had knocked him unconscious without hesitation and had her way with him.)

Damn you, Izuku.

Maybe this is the reason kana left me back then…

I'm so insensitive to their feelings.

I'm a narcissistic bastard who always thinks about himself.

"…Sorry, Mellisia, but I don't know what you're talking about," I said, acting like I didn't understand.

"You're… not pushing us away?" she asked, surprised.

"What do you think I am?" I replied.

"Some edgy teenager?"

"Aren't you a teenager?" she said, narrowing her eyes.

"But I'm pretty sure you are pushing us away… maybe I'm overthinking it." She smiled at me..

Man… I'm so lucky, I thought, looking at her face so close to mine.

"Yoo… Izuku—"

Shigaraki's voice echoed as he warped directly into my room.

He froze.

We were in bed. Mellisia was on top of me

"Eh?"

"Eh?"

Both of us said it at the same time.

I panicked, pulled on my pants, and kicked him straight back into the portal.

The portal snapped shut immediately.

"Who the hell was that?" Mellisia asked.

"I don't know," I shrugged it off.

"Maybe a sales guy. I heard they come in all different ways nowadays."

"What sales guy knows your name?" she asked suspiciously.

"Is he your friend?"

"No. Definitely not," I said quickly.

As we both got ready…

All Might had given Mellisia a full support lab inside our house. She like that place very much..

She spent most of her time there—or with me.

Before I left for UA, Fuyumi-san came to my house.

Even though they all agreed to the relationship…

I still don't feel well with all three of them coming at me like this.

It's not their fault.

It's mine.

"Ah… Fuyumi-san," I said when I opened the door.

She looked relieved the moment she saw me—but that relief quickly turned into worry.

"Are you okay, Izuku-kun?" she asked softly.

"I was really worried about you… you didn't even answer my calls."

"I'm sorry, Fuyumi-san," I said, lowering my gaze.

"I avoided you. I'm still… processing things."

She shook her head immediately.

"Don't blame yourself, Izuku-kun. It's not your fault," she said gently.

"You saved that girl, didn't you? You're still the same person.

You're still the guy who rushes in whenever someone is in danger… even when it hurts you."

Her words settled something heavy in my chest.

She glanced at my uniform.

"I see you're going to school," she said after a pause.

"Let's meet tomorrow, okay? I don't want to interrupt your school life."

"It's fine, Fuyumi-san," I replied quickly.

"I still have a lot of time. Let me walk you home."

She hesitated for a moment… then nodded.

As we walked, our hands naturally found each other.

She's still so shy… even after all we've been through.

So cute.

Out of all the girls… maybe Fuyumi-san knows me the best.

She's the one who sees through me without forcing anything.

The one I connected with the most emotionally.

She has this calm aura around her—

one that lets me breathe, lets me rest, lets me be at peace just by being near her.

…I love her a lot.

"Izuku-kun… we're here," she said quietly.

We had reached her home.

Man… I still want to hold her hand.

Before I could overthink it, I leaned forward and quickly pecked a kiss on her lips—

then turned around and ran to my house.

"W–Wait—!" I heard her gasp behind me.

"So fast…" she murmured to herself, face burning red as she stood frozen at her door.

"…Did his quirk really go away?"

Still blushing heavily, she finally went inside.

---

With the League of Villains

"Damn you, Kurogiri! Don't you know any better timing?! He's with a girl!" Rin screamed.

"Master… I didn't expect Master Izuku… to be with a girl," Kurogiri replied calmly.

"He still kicks so damn hard… did he really lose his quirk?" Rin muttered.

"A girl? Seriously?" Kurohane scoffed, listening to their conversation...

"When I'm boldly asking him to be my partner? He goes after another girl.…"

She clicked her tongue.

"Too bad. I'll still have him one way or another..He's too interesting… and cute… to let go of."

Kurohane listened quietly from the shadows.

----

After I returned home and had breakfast, I finally left for UA… for the first time in a while.

On the way to UA, I suddenly got sucker-punched—

By Toru.

Still invisible.

Ah… this pain.

I miss Danger Sense.

"Why are you not answering my calls, you idiot?!" she shouted.

"Do you know… how worried I was?!"

Her voice broke as she cried, slowly becoming visible in front of me.

Man… I am a fucking idiot.

She looks like she cried all night.

"Toru… I'm really sorry," I said quietly.

"I was just having a hard time… so I wanted some time."

"You should have said so…" she sobbed.

"I was so worried about you… Izuku-kun…"

"…Don't cry," I said, feeling my chest tighten.

"I'm feeling pretty bad already. How about an after-school date?"

"Yeah…" she sniffed, clinging to my arm.

"It's a nice distraction for you too."

"Why are you so lovey-dovey so early in the morning…?"

Bakugou greeted us with a scowl.

"Kacchan, good morning," I replied.

"Izuku-kun… no matter what Bakugou-kun is not allowed..," Toru said, clinging tighter.

"…What are you talking about, Toru?" I asked, genuinely confused.

She glared at me.

I still didn't understand.

---

At School

The students greeted me.

They were all worried about me.

Even Momo and students from Class 1-B checked in.

Hatsume-san was crying because I wouldn't come to her lab anymore.

I assured her it was only for a while—but she didn't get it.

Later, Kacchan and I went with All Might and Aizawa to see Eri.

"Hey, Eri," I called.

She immediately ran over and hugged me.

"I missed you, Onii-chan!"

"Ah you're the softie Onii-chan from before!" Eri said, pointing at Kacchan.

"Eh?! I'm not a softie!" Kacchan screamed.

Eri flinched.

"Don't worry, Eri," I said quickly.

"He's scary on the outside, but warm on the inside."

"I'll kill you!" Kacchan yelled.

"Language," Aizawa-sensei sighed.

"She's a kid."

"Eri… is your quirk okay?" I asked gently.

"Aizawa-oji-san is teaching me to control it," she replied.

"Can she really do it, Midoriya?" Aizawa asked.

"Yeah," I nodded.

"I'm pretty sure."

"Eri… can you use your quirk on me?" I asked.

"But my quirk… kills people…" she said, trembling.

…Poor girl.

I should have punched that bastard more.

"No, Eri," I said softly.

"With your quirk, you can save lives.

You can save a lot of lives.

Your quirk is Rewind… right?"

"…Yeah."

"Can you use it on me?"

"Kid," Aizawa warned,

"I get that you're desperate, but it's still too dangerous."

"No need to worry, Sensei," I said.

"I trust Eri."

She tried.

For a second… I felt nothing.

No change in my body.

No response from my quirk.

She stopped.

"…What happened?" Kacchan asked.

"I don't know," I said slowly.

"But something definitely changed…"

"You got your quirk back?" Aizawa asked.

"No," I shook my head.

"But I think I've got a plausible explanation."

"Eri needs stored power to use Rewind.

Since my quirk was powerful… she needs more power to rewind it completely."

"That's your theory?" Aizawa asked.

"Are you sure, young man?" All Might asked.

"Yeah," I nodded.

"I'm pretty sure it'll work… in a month or so."

Even the embers in All Might were fading day by day.

He might have to retire sooner than I expected.

I blamed myself.

If I still had One For All…

I thought I had time.

That was just wishful thinking.

If Shigaraki begins his plan—

If he modifies his body to handle All For One—

It'll be a disaster for heroes.

No… that's unlikely.

He's not Shigaraki Tomura.

He's Rin.

A different person.

Even All For One feels different.

I still don't know his motives.

…Should I pay him a visit?

---

At Tartarus

I went with All Might.

All For One smiled when he saw me.

"…It's nice to see you again, Izuku," he said.

"I'm so moved, son. How's Mom doing nowadays?

If you wanted to visit Dad, you should've come alone.

Why bring a pesky bug?"

"…Are you really my dad?" I asked.

"Really? After all we've been through, you still doubt it?"

"I thought you were pretty smart."

"…Does Mom know?"

"No," he replied calmly.

"I fell in love with Inko… just as she fell in love with me.

We were a completely normal couple."

"…Let's catch up , son. It's been a while since we talked..Send that pesky bug away."

"Sorry," I said.

"I'm only allowed here because of All Might."

"That's too bad… then we'll talk like this."

"…Did you manipulate our memories?" I asked.

"I can't remember the time you were with us."

"As expected," he chuckled.

"My son is too smart for his own good."

"…Yeah. I manipulated your memories—and mine.

But I didn't expect you to break through first.

Must be because this is your second time… right, son?"

I froze.

He knows.

"Midoriya… what is he talking about?" All Might asked.

"I don't know," I said, shrugging it off while panicking.

"It's all your fault, All Might," All For One continued.

"Out of all children… you chose my son.

The son of the world's strongest villain becoming the successor of the world's strongest hero. Ironic isn't it?"

"I even removed his quirk factor to keep him and Inko safe.

But you dragged him back."

"I hate you."

"Now that One For All is gone… my son is finally free."

We stood there in silence.

"Take care of Mom for me, Izuku," he said softly.

"That boy Rin… he's too naive.

If possible, look after him too."

"Just one more year… and I'll return to our family."

"…I hope you change for good, Dad," I said.

"I don't want Mom to know her husband was the world's greatest villain."

"…See you later, Dad."

I turned around.

I heard sobbing behind me…

But I didn't look back at him

My hands are too stained to start over, he thought.

Only killing All Might… is left for me. After that, we can finally be together, Izuku.

---

Just like that…

18 months passed.

Since the day I met

All For One.

No.

My dad.
