Chapter 4 - Healer 2: Flame, Destruction, and Death

"What happened?" The leader of the group that consisted of 10 adventurer asked, his voice echoed in the ears of his companions amidst the destruction and dimly lit surroundings. "Humph!" covering her mouth with the edges of her white and blue cloak to prevent smelling the stench of blood from seeping in, she proceeded to lightly tapped with the lower end of her wooden staff the uncovered dead bodies of slashed and mutilated goblins, orcs, and that of a troll, whom cleanly split in half. The Healer continued to inspect the innards and wounds of the lifeless bodies whilst her companions on her back simply watched her do her thing. "Hey, answer already!" the male Warrior right beside their leader just like earlier, shouted back with the same aggression towards the Cleric. "It's dead." the Cleric finally answered, albeit short on her words which quickly annoyed the Warrior right beside. "Yeah, we know it's dead, stupid, care to educate us on what exactly happened?!" his tone still same as ever and more detestable, akin to that of looking down upon the green inexperienced member of theirs.

"Let me take a look." coming in and sitting by her side right then was one of the wizards of their group, the sole male of the 3 wizards. With his keen eyes behind his glasses to inspect from the outside, he immediately cauterized and inspected the innards and wounds inside with his gloved hands by putting them in. Feeling the sticky, slimmy, disgusting, and squelching feeling from the inside, he earnestly kept a comfortable face, free from any disgust and repulsion towards the dead bodies. The Healer by his side despite her inexperienced status as an adventurer was keeping the same demeanor. "Not your first time inspecting dead bodies?" the towering female Tank of the group asked cooly. "Not really, since i used to work on some on the daily during my time back then when i was a Sister." she said proudly. "Heh, how convenient." the Leader quickly praised her good points before the Tank could respond instead which raised some eyebrows amongst the female ones of the Band.

After some good few minutes of messing up and checking the insides, the wizard stood up before swiping off the sweats sliding down from his forehead with his forearm. Blood cautiously dripped from the finger tip of his gloves as he quickly worked to disposed of them. "Recently deceased, body's still warm. No signs of magic casted. It appears there's something rather explosive that happened earlier that caused all this. These cuts, they're too precise to be, something that would be a rare feat for these bunch to be capable of." he said as he pointed and inspected with his eyes and hands pointing towards all their obvious surroundings. "But in terms of value, we can't sell these bodies for further study to some who are interested, they're already too... mutilated. These bodies don't sell that much anyway in the first place, except, maybe the Troll." finishing his sentence as he burned away the gloves on a nearby flame still lit up, he then answered to the Leader with a straightforward face.

"Yes, yes, enough with the obvious facts, but, what could've caused all of this, may you theorize? I don't wanna travel further ahead if there's a danger that may be too much for all of us." the Leader asked in a concerned manner. "Like i said, infighting's may not be the case, these cuts may have been done by someone with control of the blade as they're too precise to be. And the destruction around us, along with the flames, i suspect it might be the supposed Dragon we're supposed to hunt." With a long speech of an explanation, everyone listened in succinctly, focused on their ears and still wary of their surroundings for there might be danger that's lurking somewhere. "Hmmm..." thinking deeply about it, the Leader classified as a Warrior the way he dressed similarly to the other 3, put his hand on his chin with his back against a wall.

A minute has passed, the group started to discuss with one another over what they should do. "We should head back, the level and danger of this quest might be a little too much for us." Some reluctant to abandon the current quest seeing the destruction of the current sight and the danger might be a little too much for them. "No, let's proceed, we've already come this far! It be a waste of time not to!" others rather more pushy to proceed forward, were excited of the certain situation up ahead. This went on for a while, while however, the Cleric of the group was left to her own, with not choice or opinion on the matter. Instead, she decided to go back with the lifeless bodies and continued on her inspection with the lower end of her wooden staff.

'It's obvious what happened, but these cuts, they're not just precise, they're more like akin to mastery over the blade than just being treated as clean slashes, whoever done this must've been strong and excellent.' she thought with praises and appraisingly of wonder.
