Chapter 11 - chapter eleven : A promise forever

Two years had passed since the day we made our blood covenant. Two years of stolen moments, whispered confessions, small fights that ended in laughter, and nights filled with stolen kisses and quiet conversations.

Our love had grown quietly, intensely, in the shadows of secrecy. Every challenge we faced only strengthened the bond between us. Alfred had become my strength, my safe place, my everything.

But life has a way of testing love, even the strongest kind.

The day I received my university admission letter should have been joyous. And it was… but it also brought a heavy sadness. I had been accepted to study Law, a dream I had chased for years. Yet the university was far from home, far from Alfred, far from everything familiar.

When I told him, I expected happiness, but instead, he held me tightly, tears welling in his eyes.

"You're leaving… really leaving?" he asked, voice breaking.

I nodded, tears spilling down my cheeks. "Yes… I have to go, Alfred. It's my dream… but I don't want to leave you."

He shook his head, hands trembling as he held my face. "Splendour… I'm proud of you. But it hurts… my heart hurts."

We spent the night before my departure in a whirlwind of memories — laughter, kisses, and soft confessions. We played our favorite songs, rewatched old movies, and held each other as if the world could disappear around us.

Finally, as midnight approached, we knew the moment had come. I brought out a small knife, the same one we had used two years ago.

"Alfred," I whispered, "let's renew it. Let's promise each other… forever, again."

He hesitated, tears rolling freely down his cheeks, before nodding. "Yes… yes, Splendour. Forever."

We made the blood covenant again, cutting our fingers lightly and pressing them together. The red droplets mingled, a physical symbol of love, trust, and devotion.

"Forever," I whispered.

"Forever," he echoed, voice thick with emotion.

We clung to each other for hours, crying, whispering promises, and holding onto the certainty that no distance could break what we had.

The next morning, as I left for the university, I glanced back. Alfred was at the gate, tears in his eyes, waving desperately. I waved back, heart heavy but full of love.

Two years of love, laughter, arguments, and romance had led to this moment — a separation that felt impossible, yet necessary. But the blood covenant, our promise, and the fire in our hearts assured me: we would survive. We would endure. And our love would remain unshakable, no matter the distance.
