Chapter 8 - Isabella. (Chapter 7)

The first thing that Finn woke up to was someone humming a familiar tune. Opening his eyes, the first thing he saw was a wooden roof.

Confused, Finn turned his head to look at his surroundings. He was in a small room, which had wooden walls as well. The entrance door stood open slightly, allowing small streaks of light to enter.

The only furniture in the room was the makeshift bed he was lying on and a wooden table. In front of the table stood a petite woman with blonde hair, clad in a white robe.

She was completely unaware he was awake. She was focused on something in front of her on the table, her shoulders moving every now and then.

'Where am I?' Finn thought as he tried to sit himself up right. The action made him groan. Looking down at his naked upper body, which was wrapped in bandages. 'Huh?'

"Oooh no you don't mister!" He looked up at the blonde woman coming towards him. In her hands she held a wooden cup, steam pouring out of it. "The wounds on your back haven't healed yet!'

Her voice was stern as she softly pushed him back down. She lifted the cup toward his mouth. "Drink."

Hesitantly, Finn opened his mouth as she slowly dipped the cup, warm liquid slowly flowing down his throat. When the cup was emptied, she quickly stood up and put the cup back on the table.

"Uhm... who are you?" Finn questioned.

"Ooh! Silly me! My name is Isabella! Nice to meet you! I'm the doctor around here!" She explained happily.

"Where exactly is here?" Finn looked around.

"Ah! Right! Welcome to our small village! It doesn't have a name at the moment, as it was just recently started being built." She nodded.

'A village? Guess we humans really are adaptable." Finn thought.

"Then, how did I end up here?" Finn asked another question.

"Well, one of our scouting squads ended up finding you passed out in the middle of the woods and brought you here." She explained.

"You're really lucky that they found you before something else did!" She added joyfully.

"Wow, great way to brighten up the mood." Finn sighed.

Ignoring his comment, she excitedly clapped her hands together. "Now it's my turn for questions," she smiled. "Let's start with your name?"

"Finn." He said, reeling a bit at her bubbly attitude.

"How are you feeling?"

"Well, except for the pain in my back and a massive headache, I feel fine."

She nodded, taking note of his comments in her head.

"Great, well, you should be fine after a day or two, though you will probably have to be careful with the wounds on your back."

"So no overly physical movements, ok?" Finn nodded.

'Jeez, is this going to set me back?' He begrudgingly thought.

"Great! That's everything I have to know for now. Eren will probably question you further when you are healthier. So for the moment rest and heal up." She made her way to the entrance.

"I'll visit you every now and then for check-ups." She opened the door and smiled back at him.

"Bye bye!" She waved and disappeared behind the door. Finn sighed as he looked up at the ceiling. "What do I do now?"

With nothing else to do, he reflected on what happened before he passed out.

'What was that?' The attack he launched was very powerful, but very draining. Now that he thought about it, he did feel the attack swallowing all his mana, he just didn't register it instantly at that moment.

'Is my Origin Ability related to cutting?' Finn questioned, but he knew there wasn't really a way to know. His ability's name was blocked out after all.

Shaking his head he opened up his status window, as he didn't get the chance to see it before he was out cold.

[Finn Aeir]

[Human: M-T0]

[Origin ability: K??????]

[Stamina: 90/90]

[Mana: 80/80]

[Stats:

-Strength: 14

-Agility: 22 (+4)

-Endurance: 11

-Intelligence: 8 ]

[Verdant blade (+4 agi)]

Finn blinked as he stared at the screen. His overall stats had gone up, but his Agility had seen the most growth. The mantis had benefited him a lot.

'Though, why was there a second one? A mate probably?'

Shifting his eyes toward the last words, he read them out loud.

"Verdant Blade."

A moment later, to his surprise, a weapon materialised in a flash of light on his lap. His eyes brightened as he inspected the weapon.

It was a katateuchi, or in other words, a one-handed katana. Its curved blade was light green at the back, which transitioned seamlessly to dark green at its edge.

The hilt was shorter than average, which facilitated one-handed use. The hilt was half-hazardously wrapped in green cloth, the black wood that was used for the hilt peeking out from different areas.

Lastly, no guard was protecting the hand from slipping onto the blade.

Lifting the sword, Finn noticed that it was also light. Lighter than he expected it to be.

He then focused more intently on the blade, and a moment later a screen popped up.

[Verdant Blade (T-0)]

[This blade was given upon the slaying of the [Reaper Mantis]. This blade is very good at cutting things.]

[Agility: +4]

'Huh. So does that mean it's extremely sharp?'

Running a thumb along the blade, a cut almost instantly formed on it, drawing blood. Looking at his thumb, he nodded.

'Yup, definitely sharp.'

'Now, how do I make you disappear?' He rubbed his chin.

'Store?'

The blade instantly disappeared in a flash of light, his lap now empty.

Looking around the room once more, he sighed. "Well, doctor's orders, guess I will get more shut eye."

Shifting into a more comfortable position, Finn yawned and closed his eyes. After a few slow minutes, he drifted off to sleep.

'Ugh, these newbies need to be more curious.'

Sun Wukong shook his head in annoyance, drifting lazily in the air as he watched the scene.

'Oh well, he'll figure it out in a day or two.'
