About three days had passed since Finn had arrived at the village, marking the 10th day of the evaluation.
In those three days, Finn had only stayed in bed, his wounds now almost completely healed. It was probably because of those cups of mysterious liquid Isabella had been giving him.
Speaking of her, she visited him three times a day, providing him with food, water, and medicine. She was really friendly and outgoing, so it was easy to get along with her.
During those three days, Finn had also undergone some minor physical therapy to help keep his body in shape.
The sun had already begun to set, marking the start of the evening, and the sky was bathed in an orange glow.
Finn was about to begin his physical therapy, which by now was completely unnecessary, when he heard a knock on the door.
"Come in!" Finn replied while stretching his legs.
The door slowly opened and a familiar cheerful face appeared from behind it. Finn automatically smiled as he saw her.
"Hey, Isabella." He waved.
"Hi Finn!" She smiled.
In her hands was a tray full of food. Roasted meat harvested from who knows where and homegrown vegetables. The vegetables were easy to get and grow thanks to someone's Origin Ability.
"Thanks," Finn said as he took the tray of food. Making his way to the bed, he looked over his shoulder.
"So... when am I allowed to get out of this room?"
"Geez, you make it sound like this is a prison," she giggled, "but that's what I wanted to talk about."
Plopping down onto the bed, he curiously looked at her.
"Well, Eren finally has some time on his hands to speak to you. So when you are finished eating, you can follow me." She winked. "I'll be your guide!"
Finn smiled and nodded, but deep down he was nervous. Eren was the leader of the village, a strong and courageous figure who stood as the pillar for these people.
Or that's what he heard of at least. He had a powerful Origin Ability and was one of, if not the, strongest fighter here.
He was also a part of a five-man team, that was responsible for protecting the village. In other words, it was the main force.
Surprisingly enough, the woman who stood in front of him was also a part of that team. She had a healing Origin Ability he found out from the conversations they had.
When asked what his Origin Ability was, he replied with a shrug of the shoulders and a simple "I don't know,". Which he really didn't.
This was met with a suspicious expression from her. She probably thought he had some secrets.
"Well, that's great! Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
She rolled her eyes and made her way to the table. "Stop stalling and eat up, mister eager."
Finn made a mock salute and started scarfing down his food. The food was a bit cold and unseasoned, but he didn't complain. Can't be picky, when your only other option is starving.
After finishing the food, Isabella gave him more of the hot liquid and medicine. She then gave him a spare black t-shirt and white shorts, to make him more presentable to the public.
"Okay, time for us to go meet the leader!" Isabella pumped her fist into the air.
"Yeah..." Finn half-heartedly copied her.
She happily made her way to the door and Finn followed behind. For the first time, he stepped out of the room, or more accurately, a small house.
He was immediately met with a bustling town. In this one street alone, people were busy chatting and enjoying the evening, not a care in the world.
Looking at his surroundings, small buildings decorated the sides of the street, and small stalls were scattered here and there.
"This town has some sort of currency?" He questioned.
"Nah, more like trading of goods, an apple for a pear, and all that." She answered.
"Well, come on!" She waved and made her way to the center of the town.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming!" He replied, quickly closing the door behind him and making his way to follow her.
Finn looked around as he followed her down the street. His room was located at the edge of the village, near one of the entrances. The village had two entrances, one south and the other north. He was near the south.
Ten-metre-high walls surrounded the village, keeping it safe from the outside. The walls looked like they were made from the earth.
Making their way deeper into the village, the houses became bigger. The people here also looked a lot stronger. 'So there is a hierarchy.'
He thought eyeing the people that passed them on their walk. They greeted Isabella with smiles on their faces and gave Finn curious looks.
They then passed another building, which looked like your typical blacksmith building you would find in MMORPG games. The front was open, making the inside visible to everyone.
A sign hung from the top of the archway. On it stood André's workshop. Inside, a man with a brown complexion and a braided ponytail was hammering away at a piece of hot metal.
Seeing Finn's curious gaze, Isabella smiled. "That's our resident blacksmith and another member of the main squad, André."
Finn nodded and waved when André looked up. Noticing a new face, he smirked and walked over.
"Is this the one who had those gnarly back wounds, Bell?"
"Jeez, have more class would you?" Isabella frowned.
André sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "I didn't mean to offend, sorry if I did."
He presented his soot-covered hand to Finn. "The name's André, nice to meet you."
Finn shook his hand and smiled, "Finn, likewise."
He smiled and nodded, "Well if you need equipment, I'm your guy, never hesitate to ask."
"I'll keep that in mind." Finn nodded.
André turned his attention back toward Isabella, who had a small smile at the interaction.
"If you're looking for chief, he probably just finished his meeting with her."
Isabella nodded, "Thanks, then we will be going."
André nodded, patted Finn on the shoulder, and made his way back to the smithy. "See you later!" He waved over his shoulder.
Both Finn and Isabella said goodbye and made their way toward the biggest building in the village.
It was a two-story building, with a big window on the second floor. The building was circular and, if he had to guess, had a diameter of probably 30 metres.
Coming closer to the building two figures could be seen standing in front of the entrance inside. It was a woman and a man, they were idly talking to each other, enjoying each other's company.
Finally, they were close enough to make out their features. The man was big and lean, probably a few inches taller than he was. He was clad in silver armour, making him look even bigger.
He then looked at the woman. When he did, his eyes widened and his heart quickened.
It was June.
