Chapter 37 - Chapter 36 — Because Hope Always Survives

The seeds of questions planted at the Third Training Ground were now quietly taking root throughout Konoha.

From the outside, the village looked almost exactly the same.

The same streets.

The same shops.

The same training grounds.

The same shinobi coming and going on their missions.

The same administration.

The same Hokage Tower.

Yet, something had fundamentally shifted.

There was no violent rebellion.

No one had raised an army against the Hokage.

No one had attempted to seize power.

Naruto hadn't called for the removal of a ruler. He hadn't come to shatter the old structures by force. He was attempting something far more dangerous.

He was trying to build a society that could continuously reinvent itself. A society that would one day outgrow its need for him.

He hadn't told the people to defeat the old guard. He simply began teaching them never to accept any answer as final.

To ask every rule—why?

To ask every failure—why?

To ask every fear—why?

To ask every seemingly impossible thing—

Is this truly impossible?

These questions were slowly becoming a part of people's daily lives.

But Naruto did not rely on words alone. He knew the greatest weakness of any revolution was that people needed to see the new world before they were willing to abandon the old one.

And so, he began building alternatives.

The Uchiha clan's withdrawal from politics and the Military Police Force on October 10th was not merely a political maneuver. From the outside, it looked as though the Uchiha were surrendering their power. They had emptied their posts. They had separated themselves from the very system in which their clan had found its identity for decades.

Many conservative officials assumed the Uchiha had grown weak. Danzo thought the same. He believed he had successfully stripped them of their greatest weapons.

What he failed to see was that the Uchiha were not retreating.

They were expanding.

Under Naruto's foresight and caution, they had begun securing safe havens outside of Konoha.

If Konoha accepted them—they would stay.

If they were ever forced out—they would have other places to go.

If the village ever turned against them—they would have a way to survive.

Most importantly, they were not doing this to prepare for war. They simply refused to let their future be locked behind a single door. A future should never depend on just one path.

Konoha's conservative leaders could not see this. They thought the Uchiha had surrendered power. The Uchiha understood they were multiplying their possibilities.

They weren't running from a threat. They were building their future. That was the difference.

The courtyard of the Uchiha compound was bathed in the soft morning sunlight.

In a small open space, seven-year-old Sasuke sat with his eyes closed. In front of him, on a small wooden table, lay bandages, medicines, and some training tools.

Between his small hands flickered a soft, green chakra.

He was practicing Medical Ninjutsu.

His brows were furrowed in deep concentration. The green light flared brightly, then dimmed, before stabilizing once more. Sasuke gently extended his palm, letting his chakra touch a small cut beneath a bandage. He watched it intently for a few moments, then opened his eyes.

"Again," he whispered to himself. He undid the bandage and repeated the process.

There was a time when an Uchiha male learning Medical Ninjutsu was almost unheard of. Their world was war. It was Fire Style. It was the Sharingan. It was about defeating the enemy. Taking lives, not saving them.

But Sasuke was learning a different path. He was a child of the bloodline that had spent generations using their eyes to deal death. Now, he was the first of his family to learn the art of preserving life.

At the other end of the courtyard stood Itachi, accompanied by Yashiro and two other prominent Uchiha members.

Anyone observing them would assume they were the real individuals. Their expressions, their breathing, their chakra signatures—everything was perfectly normal. But they were not real. They were not even standard Shadow Clones.

They were specialized proxies, reinforced with complex Fuinjutsu structures and precise chakra control. Unless they sustained a fatal blow, they could exist just like ordinary humans. Their purpose was not to fight, but to deceive. They were there to make Konoha believe Itachi was present, to let the Uchiha see their leaders were still in the village, and to assure any spies that all was normal.

Meanwhile, their real bodies were executing missions across the globe.

Fugaku stood at the entrance of the courtyard. Suddenly, a trained hawk descended from the sky, landing squarely on his forearm. Fugaku retrieved the small scroll tied to its leg and broke the seal.

Kusa Mission — Complete. Itachi has safely extracted Karin Uzumaki and Kaori.

Snow Mission — Contact established. Koyuki Kazahana is ready for the alliance.

Sky Fortress Mission — Complete. Doctor Shinno has been captured alive. The true location of the Sky Fortress is secured.

Fugaku stared at the scroll for a moment before igniting it with a pulse of chakra. The ashes scattered in the wind.

His gaze shifted to little Sasuke practicing in the yard, and then to Itachi's clone. Konoha had always believed the Uchiha's strength lay in their titles—in the Military Police, in the ANBU, in the fear of the Sharingan.

But now, they were no longer confined within Konoha's walls.

A faint smile touched Fugaku's lips. "They think we abandoned our place."

Itachi's clone remained silent, but a subtle gleam of pride shone in his eyes as he watched his little brother heal.

Fugaku looked toward the horizon. "It will take them time to realize we didn't abandon our place. We simply outgrew our borders... not for war. For the future."

The Uchiha were no longer a clan bound to a single village. They were becoming ideas. Physicians. Possibilities.

Far away, in a forgotten, desolate border town near Kusagakure, the night was heavy.

Inside a dilapidated, half-ruined building, Kaori Uzumaki lay on a bed, drawing shallow, agonizing breaths. Her condition was critical; her body was pale, slowly shutting down from the inside out. Karin sat beside her, trembling with absolute terror.

Itachi stood near the door.

"Will Konoha just keep us to be used as tools again?" Kaori asked, her voice barely a whisper.

Itachi's eyes softened with a solemn resolve. "No. The one who ordered your rescue does not view you as weapons."

Suddenly, the air in the room grew heavy. The walls seemed to groan under an invisible pressure as a masked shinobi stepped from the shadows. He reached up and pulled away his mask.

It was a seven-year-old boy.

"My name is Naruto Uzumaki," he said, his blue eyes meeting Kaori's. "Son of Kushina Uzumaki. And as long as I draw breath, no one will ever use you against your will again."

Kaori's face shifted—disbelief, recognition, and an explosion of raw emotion flooding her features. "You..."

"It's too late for me..." Kaori gasped, her core failing.

"Not yet," Naruto said, his voice entirely calm.

He immediately dropped to his knees and slammed his hands onto the floor. Being a shadow clone, Naruto knew he possessed limited chakra reserves, and Kaori's chakra core deficiency was far more severe than Hana Hyuga's. Pumping his own chakra directly would instantly disperse him.

To bypass this limit, ink-black sealing scripts erupted from his palms, rapidly crawling across the floor and walls. Within seconds, a massive, highly complex Fuinjutsu Sealing Array illuminated the dark room.

The array acted as a conduit, violently drawing in the ambient natural energy and environmental chakra around them, merging it with the warm, golden-red hue of Naruto's Uzumaki chakra.

Karin panicked, reaching out. "Stop! What are you doing?! You'll kill yourself!"

Itachi swiftly caught her shoulder, holding her back. "Let him work."

The massive surge of focused energy began pouring into Kaori's body. The deathly chill radiating from her skin started to recede, replaced by a radiant, life-giving warmth.

"Focus your own chakra," Naruto commanded, sweat beading on his forehead as he maintained the delicate balance of the Fuinjutsu array. "Convert this energy into life force!"

Time stretched. Ten minutes. Twenty. Forty. Then almost an hour.

Gradually, the color returned to Kaori's skin. The rattle in her chest vanished.

"Enough..." Kaori finally gasped, her eyes opening with newfound clarity. "That is enough for me."

Naruto slowly deactivated the sealing array, the glowing scripts fading into the floor. He sat back, breathing heavily.

"You saved me..." Kaori's voice trembled with unshed tears. "Why go to such lengths? What do you want from us?"

Naruto offered her a warm, simple smile. "You are family. No other reason is needed."

He turned his gaze to Itachi. "Take them with you and rendezvous with Hawk. Root's activity is increasing in Konoha. It doesn't matter what Danzo is planning right now. Getting to the Sky Fortress is the priority. Use this." He tossed Itachi a specialized seal tag. "It will completely mask your chakra signatures on the journey."

Karin looked at Naruto in awe.

"This is just a clone," Naruto smiled gently.

The next second, his body dissolved into a puff of white smoke, leaving only the lingering warmth of his chakra in the room.

Karin and Kaori stared at the empty space in utter shock. That was just a clone?!

But his final words echoed clearly in their minds: "Remember... Hope is our greatest weapon."

Amidst the biting winds of the Land of Snow, a new possibility was born.

Princess Koyuki Kazahana sat across from Yashiro Uchiha. She knew her uncle would never stop sending assassins; she could never live in peace.

"If I accept this alliance?" she asked.

"You will have absolute protection," Yashiro replied calmly. "Not just for you. For your entire country. In return, we ask for cooperation, and more importantly—trust."

Koyuki understood. This wasn't just a military transaction to overthrow Doto; it was the foundation of a new future. She bowed her head slightly. "I agree."

For the first time, a look of genuine satisfaction crossed Yashiro's face. Another path had opened.

High above the clouds, the Sky Fortress hovered silently in the atmosphere.

Inside a massive, dimly lit chamber, Doctor Shinno sat bound on the floor, utterly defeated. Amaru stood nearby, trembling. Across from them sat Hawk (Shisui), quietly reading through a technical manual, completely ignoring the captive.

"You're an Uchiha," Shinno remarked, a twisted smirk on his face. "Your speed, that genjutsu... magnificent. It makes me wonder what Konoha truly wants with me."

"You are completely defeated, yet you still try to dig for information. I like your persistence."

A figure stepped out of the shadows and removed his mask.

Shinno's eyes widened in sheer shock. "You... you're just a boy! Well, well... you are Naruto Uzumaki, the boy who shook the world."

"Are you the one who changed this world, or the one who will burn it down?" Shinno's laugh carried a chilling, manic edge. "Honestly, I'm rooting for the latter."

A faint, knowing smile touched Naruto's lips. "Figures. You belong to the crowd that loves watching the fire from a front-row seat."

"No, My Lord—you misunderstand!" Shinno strained against his bindings, his eyes burning with fanatic ambition. "With my medical knowledge and your intellect, what couldn't we achieve? We can shatter human limitations entirely. We can reach true Perfection!"

"Perfection doesn't exist," Naruto replied, his voice dropping into a quiet, absolute stillness that pierced the room. "And if it did, it would just be another word for death. Because the moment something is 'perfect,' it stops changing. It stops growing. Your ultimate perfection is nothing more than a sophisticated grave."

Shinno blinked, momentarily thrown off balance before his frustration flared. "Then what are we supposed to fight for? War? Borders? Fragile bonds? I don't believe in any of those hollow lies!"

"Start with yourself," Naruto said sharply. "What is it that you actually want?"

"I want to break the absolute ceiling of human potential!" Shinno snarled, desperation creeping into his voice. "I want to surpass it all and claim perfection!"

"And I told you—perfection is death. So, do you want to die?"

"I don't want to die, I want perfection!" Shinno screamed. Dark chakra began to leak from his body, his manic obsession fracturing his composure. Foam flecked his lips.

Nearby, little Amaru flinched in absolute terror. The illusion of her kind, savior-like sensei shattered completely, leaving behind a raving, unhinged fanatic.

Naruto didn't weave a single hand sign. He didn't raise his voice. He simply took a step forward. His sheer, crushing presence washed over the room, an oceanic weight that instantly smothered Shinno's flaring dark chakra, forcing it back down into nothingness.

"And there is your contradiction," Naruto stated calmly. "You can't have one without the other."

"Then what choice do I have?!" Shinno pleaded, the weight of his entire life's obsession crumbling. "I've spent my whole life trying to break human limits!"

"Breaking limits is the right aim—even I strive for that," Naruto's voice softened, carrying an undeniable weight of authority. "The flaw isn't in wanting to grow stronger; it's in calling any destination 'perfection.' Once you reach a place you label as perfection, you stop. You freeze. And I refuse to stop."

Naruto looked down at him. "My aim isn't to reach an end—it's to evolve. Unceasingly. To keep growing until my last breath, and to spark that same endless evolution in others, so the world keeps moving forward long after I'm gone. If you always want to go beyond the limit, then was it ever truly the final limit?"

The damp, oppressive silence of the fortress room rushed back in.

For the first time in his long, fabricated life, Shinno was utterly speechless. He realized he wasn't looking at a monster or a tool—he was looking at a truth he had spent decades running from.

Slowly, the mad glint in Shinno's eyes dissolved into something raw and heavy. With a trembling breath, the master of dark chakra sank to his knees, lowering his head until his forehead touched the cold stone floor in an act of absolute surrender.

"My Lord..." Shinno's voice trembled, stripped of all arrogance. "I have spent my whole life chasing a dead end. I was wrong... Please, allow me to follow you. I want to see... what lies beyond that limit."

Naruto smiled faintly. "Keep seeking the answers. But remember—if you ever feel you've found the ultimate truth... just ask the next question."

The night had deepened.

From the altitude of the Sky Fortress, the world below was swallowed in darkness.

Naruto stood alone, looking out at the horizon. Everything was falling into place. Sasuke, Kaori, the Snow Country, the Sky Fortress... and now, Shinno.

He thought about the doctor's sudden surrender. Shinno had been a villain, consumed by his own dark obsession, and now he was willingly working for change.

Perhaps 'Talk No Jutsu' is the real deal, not just a joke, Naruto mused internally. I didn't use a genjutsu to control him. I just forced him to face the mirror of his own truth, and he changed himself completely. Maybe, deep down, he always wanted to change. He just needed an outside force to shatter his illusion.

Naruto closed his eyes, feeling the cold wind. Even in the darkest of hearts, a spark of hope always burns. That is why, even if darkness wins for a moment, hope always survives. And in the end, that little spark ignites the flame of truth, and from its ashes, a new person is born.

I should keep targeting hope, he realized. That is how my dream of an Era of Truth will be realized. Because no matter how far the darkness spreads, hope will always burn in every human heart.

Hope always survives!!!

Furthermore, Shinno's medical brilliance was an unexpected prize. With his knowledge of the human body and cellular limits, perhaps Shinno could be the key to unraveling the biological mysteries of White Zetsu—secrets Naruto himself hadn't fully decoded yet.

He looked up at the stars. Yes. Things were finally moving in the right direction.

Suddenly—

"Naruto."

Kurama's voice echoed sharply within his mind.

Naruto's faint smile vanished instantly. He closed his eyes.

In the next second, his consciousness plunged into his inner mindscape.

This was no dark cage or damp sewer. His mindscape was an endless, calm blue sea stretching perfectly to the horizon. And resting upon the surface of the water, as comfortably as if it were a bed, sat a beautiful, majestic white fox with nine massive tails fanned out behind him. It was Kurama—free of hatred, glowing in his purest, most ethereal form.

But today, the calm blue sea was not at peace. As soon as Kurama had spoken the words—"We have a war"—the endless blue water began to freeze over. A terrifying, bone-crushing pressure filled the air. It was Naruto's cold, silent anger manifesting into physical weight.

The white fox fixed his deep eyes on Naruto. The gravity in his gaze was something Naruto recognized immediately.

"Explain," Naruto said, his voice perfectly steady.

Kurama closed his eyes, as if straining to pinpoint a distress signal from the edge of the world.

"I am sensing a chakra signature... It is incredibly faint. And very far away. But there is absolutely no mistaking it."

"Whose?"

Kurama opened his eyes. His voice dropped to a heavy whisper.

"Kushina's."

Naruto didn't move a single muscle. But the air in the mindscape grew exponentially colder, thick webs of frost violently cracking across the surface of the frozen blue sea.

Kurama delivered the final blow.

"And tangled within it... is my old chakra."

Naruto said nothing. He took a single, long breath. Very slowly.

Then, he closed his eyes.

One second. Two seconds. Three seconds.

When he opened them, there was nothing but absolute, freezing wrath.

It was an anger that did not scream. An anger that did not lose control. An anger that felt no need to issue threats. In his eyes, there was only a terrifying, inevitable judgment.

Yet, when he spoke, his voice was deathly calm.

"Kurama..." he commanded softly.

"I want every single detail."
