Konoha Tower — Study Room
Only a few hours had passed since the incident at the Hyūga Mansion.
From the outside, Konoha appeared as calm and tranquil as ever. Red and yellow lanterns were lit in the main market alleys, citizens engaged in evening shopping were bargaining at shop fronts, and a cool breeze blowing from the woods gently rustled the tree leaves. Yet, behind that picturesque and lazy tranquility, the village's top political machinery had become unusually active.
In the uppermost study of the Hokage Tower, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, sat alone. Three special communication scrolls lay on his large wooden desk. Each scroll was wrapped in a distinct fabric and marked with a different colored chakra seal—one with a water-protected seal, the second with a special medicinal symbol, and the third with the traditional fire crest of the Uchiha clan.
Hiruzen took a long, heavy breath. He interlocked his fingers and looked toward his old wooden pipe resting on the desk, which had stopped emitting smoke.
"It has been a long time..." Hiruzen muttered into the empty room. "Perhaps the time has come to recall the old generation that I personally sent away from here."
He picked up a small kunai knife, made a light cut on the tip of his left index finger, and pressed a drop of red blood onto the seals of all three scrolls. As the chakra activated, a faint blue light emitted from the seals, and the three scrolls vanished into thin air, flying off at high speed in three different directions—North, Southwest, and toward the Eastern border.
As soon as the scrolls departed, Hiruzen rested his head against the back of his heavy wooden chair. He closed his eyes, but even in the darkness, only one face floated before him—Naruto Uzumaki.
That six-year-old boy with spiky golden hair. For so many years, Hiruzen had comforted himself with the belief that he was protecting the child. He had viewed him as an orphan, a Jinchūriki left behind by the Fourth Hokage for the village's defense, and a sensitive issue trapped amidst clan politics. But the events of the past few hours had completely shattered all three definitions.
Hana Hyūga's healing was not merely a display of chakra control or miraculous medical ninjutsu; that was merely the tip of the iceberg. The composure, coldness, and absolute detachment with which Naruto had spoken about his deceased mother Kushina, Mikoto Uchiha, and the village's past history had shattered Hiruzen's six years of self-complacency forever.
Naruto was not ignorant. He was not living in the darkness where Hiruzen and Danzō had wished to keep him.
If he knew everything about his parents, his mother's friends, and the hypocrisy of the village elders at the age of six, then the meaning of his silence over the past six years was no longer child-like innocence. That silence was a warning—a quietness that felt like the stillness of the ocean right before a massive storm.
Hiruzen's fingers trembled. He realized that at this moment, he had no way of reaching Naruto's inner world. Neither spies were working, nor the masked guards of the ANBU. He urgently needed people who could bridge the gap to Naruto's mind—people whose names remained untainted in history, or whom the child might actually trust to some degree.
Within a few hours, responses began returning from all three directions through the secret chakra transmission system.
The first scroll materialized on the desk. As the seal broke, Jiraiya's voice message resonated from it:
"Hiruzen-sensei, my return to Konoha right now is completely impossible. I am pursuing an extremely serious and dangerous lead. Multiple S-rank ninjas, notorious criminals, and rogues from various nations around the world are gathering under the banner of a single unknown organization. I have not yet uncovered their ultimate objective, but their scope is not limited to Konoha alone—this could upend the balance of the entire shinobi world. I cannot abandon this trail halfway."
Hiruzen's brow furrowed. The wrinkles on his forehead deepened further. An international organization of S-rank rogue ninjas... this news in itself sounded like a clarion call for a major war.
With a heavy heart, he opened the second scroll. It was Tsunade's response. The message was concise, sharp, and cold as expected:
"Stop bothering me, Hiruzen. I am currently engrossed in an extremely critical and sensitive research regarding medical techniques and chakra flow. Until my work is complete and until I feel like it, no political or internal affair of the village is my priority. Do not send me another message."
Hiruzen closed his eyes with a cold sigh. "Not Tsunade either... No one wants to return."
When he opened the third scroll, a slight sense of relief washed over the heavy atmosphere of the room. The Uchiha emblem on the scroll faded away, revealing the written words:
"Orders accepted, Hokage-sama. My three-year border security and anti-infiltration mission on the Eastern borders is complete. Handing over charge to my patrol team, I am returning to Konoha shortly—Shisui Uchiha."
A faint, genuine smile of relief appeared on Hiruzen's withered face for the first time.
Shisui Uchiha—Konoha's most talented, loyal, and calm-tempered youth. For the past three years, he had been fighting far from the village amid border dust, blood, and constant skirmishes, earning the moniker 'Shisui of the Body Flicker' (Shunsui no Shisui).
To Hiruzen, Shisui was not just a promising member of the Uchiha clan; he was the grandson of Kagami Uchiha, one of the founders of the clan, in whose veins flowed selfless love for the village. He was a soldier whose loyalty Hiruzen could trust blindly.
And right now, as the very foundation of Konoha cracked from within, Hiruzen needed precisely such a loyal shield.
Root Headquarters — Underground Chamber
Far below the splendor and light of the Hokage Tower lay a small chamber of the secret 'Root' headquarters, buried beneath the stony earth of Konoha.
The air here smelled of dampness, stale earth, and burning tallow candles. There were no carvings on the walls; only a few old sealing runes and classified documents hung around.
Danzō Shimura sat alone behind his wooden desk. His right eye and left arm were wrapped in bandages. In a corner of the desk, a small, snow-white snake sat coiled in a circle, its red, bead-like eyes gleaming in the dim candlelight.
With the fingers of his right hand, Danzō picked up a very small, rectangular letter lying on the desk. The letter was not sealed with chakra, but with ordinary wax. Danzō broke the seal with thumb pressure and unfolded the paper.
Inside, only a single sentence was written in ink:
"We should meet. Time is ticking."
There was no sender's name on the paper, nor any mention of a location. Just beneath that sentence, a small emblem of a snake with its tongue protruding was stamped.
Danzō's remaining eye narrowed. The harsh wrinkles on his face deepened. He did not need to read a name. In the entire shinobi world, only one person used this cryptic, venomous, and secretive language—his former associate, Orochimaru.
Danzō slowly crumpled the paper in his fist and held it over the candle flame. The ashes of the paper fell onto the desk.
Just a few hours ago, when intelligence reports arrived from the Hyūga Mansion stating that Naruto had healed Hana Hyūga's near-dead chakra system without any complex sealing formulas, only one thought had crossed Danzō's mind: To understand Naruto's unimaginable and unknown power, to gain control over his body, and to analyze the Kyūbi's chakra sealed within him, he needed a mind that could think beyond shinobi ethics, village rules, and human limits.
And now, that very rogue researcher, that outlawed ninja, was contacting him on his own accord.
Danzō looked at the white snake on the desk. The snake flicked its thin, split tongue and circled lightly near Danzō's finger.
"It seems, Orochimaru..." Danzō said in his heavy, raspy voice, "even sitting outside the village, your scenting abilities haven't dulled. Your concerns and mine are meeting at the same junction once again."
The snake uncoiled and vanished into the darkness through a crack in the desk.
A very thin, chilling smile appeared on Danzō's dry lips. Yet, despite all his political maneuvering and schemes, Danzō was completely unaware that Orochimaru's interest lay not merely in the Nine-Tails, but in the unique body of that six-year-old boy named Naruto Uzumaki. And even more so, Danzō had not the faintest clue that the child he dreamt of manipulating as his pawn was already thoroughly familiar with Danzō's past, his secret plans, and every potential move he might make.
Konoha Academy — Main Grounds
Two weeks had passed since that terrifying incident at the Hyūga Mansion.
Mild spring winds were blowing over Konoha village, but the atmosphere around the Academy had changed drastically.
Naruto remained the same as ever—the same quiet gait, the same spiky golden hair, the same clear blue eyes, and the same simple orange and black clothes. But the way people and Academy children viewed him had changed forever.
Now, when Naruto walked through the hallways, children didn't just point and shout 'monster' or 'fox' behind his back. Some watched him with deep curiosity, some backed away in subtle fear, while others looked at him with an odd sense of respect. The Academy teachers' attitude had shifted as well—they no longer made the mistake of ignoring Naruto. He was no longer invisible in the village crowd; he had become an undeniable reality.
On the second-floor railing of the Academy stood a boy, standing alone. His long black hair was tied back, and his pale, pupil-less eyes were fixed on Naruto standing in the courtyard below.
Neji Hyūga. He was a year senior to Naruto and was considered the top student of his batch at the Academy.
The miraculous recovery of Neji's aunt—Hana Hyūga—had become a legend within the entire clan. The woman whom the greatest medics of the Hyūga clan had declared dead, whom the clan elders had written off as 'written by fate', had been completely restored to health within minutes by this six-year-old child.
Neji gripped the wooden railing so hard that his knuckles turned white. The 'Theory of Fate' that had been instilled inside him for years was crumbling from within. Following the sacrifice of his father, Hizashi—the twin brother of Clan Head Hiashi—Neji had convinced himself that everything in this world was predetermined: who would be born into the main branch, who would wither away in the branch family, and where one's power would hit its ceiling.
But if everything was predetermined... then what was Naruto?
How could a boy whom the entire village treated as an outcast grant a new life to the lady of the main house of the grandest clan in a single night? Was that fate as well? Or was Naruto tearing up the script of fate with his own hands?
Neji found no answers to these questions. So, he did not activate his Byakugan, concealed his emotions, and simply watched Naruto silently from a distance.
In another corner of the courtyard, under the shade of a banyan tree, Sasuke Uchiha stood alone.
Sasuke had his hands tucked into his pockets, an unusual tension and irritability etched on his face. The past two weeks had been nothing short of a nightmare for him. His mother, Mikoto Uchiha, had suddenly fallen gravely ill. She remained locked in her room day and night, the window curtains drawn tight, and sometimes in the dark of night, Sasuke had heard his mother crying hysterically.
Sasuke had asked his father, Fugaku, multiple times about what was wrong with his mother. But Fugaku had always brushed him off with a cold, harsh answer—"Your mother's mental state is fragile; she needs rest. Focus on your ninjutsu practice, Sasuke."
But Sasuke was no fool. He could feel that his mother was suffering not from a physical illness, but from a profound psychological shock. He couldn't comprehend what could have possibly happened to shatter the strongest and most gentle woman of the Uchiha clan in such a manner. This unknown fear and ignorance raised a storm of anxiety and anger within him.
Just then, Hinata Hyūga slowly and hesitantly stepped toward Naruto from the middle of the courtyard. Her small hands tightly clutched the edges of her kimono.
"Na... Naruto-kun..." Hinata said in a very soft, trembling voice, lowering her head.
Naruto turned his blue eyes and looked at Hinata. There was neither harshness nor over-excitement in his gaze.
"Yes, Hinata?" Naruto asked calmly.
Hinata mustered her courage and looked up. "Will... will you sit with us during the Academy lunch break today as well?"
Naruto offered a very faint, natural smile and nodded his head. "Why not? Unless you guys have an issue with me sitting there."
An instant expression of relief brightened Hinata's face. She quickly shook her head in denial. "N-Not at all!"
Just then, heavy footsteps approached from behind. Shikamaru Nara arrived, interlocking his hands behind his neck while yawning. Right beside him, Chōji was intently chewing on potato chips. But this time, right behind them was another figure—Ino Yamanaka.
Following the covert instructions from her father, Inoichi Yamanaka, Ino had set aside her initial reluctance. Her father had explicitly instructed her—"Do not distance yourself from Naruto, Ino. He is not an enemy of the village; he is its deepest truth. Be natural around him."
"Hey Naruto," Shikamaru said, letting out another long yawn, "Iruka-sensei has reached the classroom. If we stand here for two more minutes, he'll make us run laps around the grounds as punishment. What a drag this all is..."
Chōji pulled the last chip from the packet, stuffed it into his mouth, and asked, "Will we continue talking about grilled meat during lunch today, Naruto?"
"Definitely," Naruto replied, "provided Chōji shares a chip from his packet with Shikamaru too."
Chōji immediately hugged the chip packet against his chest and shook his head vigorously. "Impossible! No sharing food!"
Ino rolled her eyes and lightly slapped Shikamaru's shoulder. "You two are such idiots! Come on, Iruka-sensei is going to yell!"
Naruto looked at all of them. For a fraction of a second, a unique, serene warmth passed through his blue eyes. Then, keeping his composure, he began walking up the steps of the main Academy building alongside them.
Konoha Academy — Classroom 2-B
Iruka-sensei was drawing diagrams on the blackboard illustrating the core concepts of chakra and its five nature transformations (Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning). The sound of pencils scratching and pages turning filled the classroom.
Naruto sat in his favorite seat right beside the window. His focus was outside, watching the drifting clouds and trees.
The village people and Academy students thought Naruto was attending the Academy merely to complete his studies or spend time with peers. But the reality was far more complex and scientific.
Right now, an extraordinarily intense and microscopic process was underway within Naruto's six-year-old body.
His ultimate goal was not ordinary. He did not want to limit Kurama (the Nine-Tails) to merely being a powerful 'tailed beast'. He aimed to evolve Kurama's existence, consciousness, and chakra beyond the physical limitations of the Nine-Tails—elevating him beyond even the level of the Ten-Tails (Jūbi) into an independent, divine chakra entity.
However, this unprecedented evolution carried an immense physical toll.
Kurama was constantly using Naruto's body as a medium to absorb vast amounts of natural energy (Senjutsu / Nature Chakra) from the atmosphere. Natural energy was entirely different from ordinary physical or mental chakra; it was wild, volatile, and raw natural power.
Naruto's six-year-old body was constantly breaking down under the pressure of this immense energy. His muscles, chakra pathways, and somatic cells were being destroyed at a microscopic level every second. Then, Naruto and Kurama together used their consciousness to instantly regenerate those cells—much like Kurama's chakra heals any wound.
This process was running twenty-four seven: Destruction, Reconstruction, and Reinforcement.
Due to this tremendous internal pressure, engaging in rigorous physical training, heavy sprinting, or aggressive ninjutsu practice would be suicidal for Naruto. If he exhausted his body physically, the balance of natural energy would shatter, turning his body to stone.
Therefore, sitting quietly at the Academy was not an act of helplessness, but a brilliantly calculated, pragmatic strategy. At the Academy, he could remain seated, dedicate his energy entirely to cellular reconstruction, and simultaneously conduct psychological analyses of the village's future shinobi.
Within Naruto's mindscape, Kurama lay in front of the massive red-barred cage. His nine giant tails shifted slowly behind him.
"Boy..." Kurama's deep, reverberating voice echoed in Naruto's mind, "The influx of natural energy today is quite intense. The chakra pathways in your left arm are still a bit weak. You need to focus your consciousness there."
Naruto gently pressed his left palm under the desk and answered internally, 'I've noticed it, Kurama. The cells will fully reconstruct within the next two hours. But what do you think? Are we reaching that level?'
Kurama narrowed his giant red eyes slightly. "The limit of the Ten-Tails is not an absolute truth, Naruto. That was merely a half-baked biological weapon created by the Ōtsutsuki clan. But this cycle of natural energy... if your body digests it completely, we will step into a whole new dimension of chakra. But remember, a single misstep and this six-year-old body of yours will turn to ash."
A faint, invisible smile touched Naruto's lips as he looked at his reflection in the window glass. 'Limits are merely the construct of weak minds, Kurama. Nature set no limits; humans created limits to hide their own fears.'
Kurama rested his snout on his giant paws and let out a deep chuckle. "Ha! That's the mindset I like. Even that old Sage of Six Paths didn't possess vision this far-reaching."
Konoha Main Gate
At precisely two in the afternoon, direct sunlight fell upon the massive wooden main gates of Konoha.
The two Chūnin guards posted at the gate sat at their desk, lazily checking documents. Suddenly, both felt an icy, terrifying chill at the back of their necks. A subtle, sharp, and highly refined wave of chakra brushed past them.
Both guards instantly drew their kunai knives and stood alert. "Who goes there?"
Out from the cloud of dust, a young man wearing a loose, dust-covered black cloak advanced slowly. A small travel bag hung over his left shoulder, and a short Uchiha sword (Wakizashi) was strapped to his back. His messy black hair fell over his forehead, and his deep, dark eyes held a unique sense of peace alongside the exhaustion of battlefields.
Shisui Uchiha.
Three years. For three continuous years amid the border dust, blood, clan disputes, enemy ambushes, and night-and-day patrolling, he had finally returned home.
As soon as the guards recognized his face, they immediately sheathed their weapons and breathed a sigh of relief. "Shisui-sama! You're back!"
Shisui brought his familiar, gentle, and faint smile back to his lips. He gave a brief bow in greeting. "Yes. The border assignment is complete. Is everything peaceful in the village?"
"Yes, everything is fine... well, mostly fine," one guard said, hesitating slightly.
Shisui caught that subtle hesitation, but he did not press with further questions. He knew it was futile to ask ordinary guards about the deep secrets of the village.
He did not head straight to his clan compound. He didn't rest, change his clothes, or go to see any relatives. Three years of military service had forged his sense of duty to a point where submitting his report took top priority.
He walked with a measured pace straight toward the Hokage Tower.
Konoha Tower — Hokage's Office
The door to the Hokage's office opened quietly.
Shisui entered, closed the door behind him, and immediately dropped onto one knee, bowing his head.
"Hokage-sama. Shisui Uchiha is present to submit the final report of the three-year border security mission."
The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, stood up from his chair. Amidst the complete fatigue of the past two weeks, a genuine, fatherly smile appeared on his face.
"Rise, Shisui. Dust off your journey," Hiruzen said. "Welcome back."
Shisui stood upright. Three years of harsh warfare had made his physique more mature, well-built, and strong. His step now carried the stability of a seasoned warrior.
Shisui pulled a sealed scroll from his pocket and placed it on the desk. "The detailed status of the borders is recorded in this scroll, Hokage-sama. Minor infiltration attempts have been thwarted. Kumogakure's activities are currently quiet, though their scout teams are still hovering near the borders. Our men have maintained complete vigilance."
Hiruzen touched the scroll and nodded. "Excellent work, Shisui. The sacrifice you and your team have made for the village is beyond measure."
Hiruzen paused for a moment. He picked up his pipe, filled it with tobacco, and lit it. A long ring of smoke floated into the air.
Shisui noticed that the Hokage's attention was not on the border report. The anxiety on his forehead signaled that something far greater and more dangerous was transpiring within the village.
"Hokage-sama," Shisui asked in a calm tone, "you seem troubled. Has an issue arisen within the village?"
Hiruzen closed his eyes and let out a cold sigh. "Shisui... a lot has changed in three years. Within your clan—the Uchiha clan—discontent is reaching its boiling point. Fugaku is directly demanding clan rights during the elders' meetings. The wall of mistrust between the Uchiha Police Force and the civilians has grown even higher."
A somber shadow crossed Shisui's face. "I know the mindset of my father and the clan elders, Hokage-sama. They have yet to forget the humiliations of the past."
"But the problem isn't just the Uchiha clan, Shisui," Hiruzen lowered his voice suddenly. His eyes locked directly into Shisui's. "The real issue has become a six-year-old child... Naruto Uzumaki."
A light spark of curiosity appeared in Shisui's eyes. "Naruto? The Fourth Hokage's son? The Jinchūriki?"
"Yes," Hiruzen said, "but he is no longer what we thought he was. Two weeks ago, he displayed a power and knowledge that is impossible for any six-year-old child. He healed Hana Hyūga's near-dead chakra system. But the most terrifying thing is not his power... it is his mindset."
Hiruzen leaned over the desk. "He knows every dark truth of this village, Shisui. He knows who his mother was, he knows why the village people hate him, and he knows that we hid the truth from him. But he never asked us a single question. He has flatly rejected this entire political system of the village. He is not willing to become anyone's pawn."
Shisui listened attentively to every single word. His sharp intellect instantly grasped the gravity of the situation.
"Is he an aggressive threat to the village, Hokage-sama?" Shisui asked. "Does he harbor feelings of revenge?"
Hiruzen remained completely silent for a few moments. He looked out the window where the faces of the Hokage were carved into the mountain.
"I cannot say for certain, Shisui," there was a strange sense of helplessness in Hiruzen's voice. "A person driven by revenge is easy to manage—they can be provoked into making mistakes. But Naruto lacks anger. There is only a ice-cold clarity in him. He is viewing this village through the eyes of a scientist."
Hiruzen turned and placed his hands on Shisui's shoulders. "Shisui, despite being an Uchiha, you believe in the peace of this village. Your loyalty is unbiased. I want you to meet Naruto."
"As a soldier? To monitor him?" Shisui asked.
"No," Hiruzen shook his head. "As a friend. As an elder brother. Make him realize that there are still people in this village who can connect with him without political self-interest. Re-integrate him into the system of this village, Shisui... before he decides to tear this entire system down."
Shisui closed his eyes. He felt his unwavering loyalty to the village deep within himself. When he opened his eyes, they held firm resolve.
"I will carry out your orders, Hokage-sama. I will meet Naruto Uzumaki and make every effort to understand him."
Hiruzen breathed a long sigh of relief. But both were unaware that Shisui possessed a massive secret weapon of his own—the Awakened Mangekyō Sharingan containing Kotoamatsukami, news of which Shisui had not yet disclosed to either Hiruzen or Danzō.
Uchiha Clan — Shisui's Study
It was midnight.
Patrol torches of the Uchiha clan flickered in the streets outside. Shisui sat in the lotus position on a tatami mat in his traditional Japanese-style room.
A single candle burned on a low table before him, its flame dancing softly in the light draft coming through the window.
Shisui closed his eyes. Every event of the day and the Hokage's words played like a motion picture in his mind.
He touched the skin near his eyes with his right fingers.
Three years ago, during a brutal battle on the borders, when his best friend was killed right before his eyes, a new chakra had awakened in his eyes amid that intense psychological trauma and remorse. His three-tomoe Sharingan had evolved into a four-pointed curved pinwheel pattern—the Mangekyō Sharingan.
And along with that eye, he had gained the most terrifying and powerful genjutsu technique in the entire shinobi world—Kotoamatsukami. A technique that could enter a person's mind, alter their thoughts, beliefs, and decisions in such a way that the victim would never even realize they were being manipulated. They would believe the decision was entirely their own.
Shisui's personal philosophy was simple and clear:
This world, this village, and this system might be full of flaws, and the elders might have made mistakes, but destroying the system is not the solution. It can be reformed from within. Through love, sacrifice, understanding, and proper guidance, the hearts of people can be changed. Violence brings only destruction; peace requires compromise and sacrifice.
He looked out the window where the lights of Konoha glowed.
"Naruto Uzumaki..." Shisui said in a low voice, "You have seen the darkness of this village at the age of six. But you have not yet seen the light of this village. I will show you that this village is still worth protecting."
Shisui firmly believed that through his words, his experience, and if necessary, his ultimate sacrifice, he would melt the cold detachment inside Naruto.
Every piece is taking their place but unfortunately nobody can see the whole bord.
