The first cool light of morning gradually spread across the massive stone faces, lush forests, and tall buildings of Konohagakure.
Today was not like other days.
Activity bustled in most homes throughout the village. Parents prepared their children for their first day at the Academy. In some homes, children bubbled with excitement over new clothes; in others, parents gave last-minute advice.
Yet, inside an old, dilapidated apartment nestled in a secluded corner of the village, there reigned an unusual quiet.
Naruto was already awake.
He sat silently on his mat for a few moments, then rose as usual to begin his routine with a disciplined, tranquil mind.
Brushed his teeth.
Breathed in the cold water of a wash.
Put on his simple shinobi attire.
Arranged his hair.
Scanned the room to ensure everything remained in its proper place.
Every single step and movement was perfectly balanced, measured, and deliberate, just as it always was.
No nervousness.
No childish excitement.
No anxiety about the Academy.
He maintained absolute self-control. Standing before the mirror, he saw a six-year-old child with golden hair looking back at him. But behind those blue eyes lay far more than six years of innocence—behind them rested icy clarity, boundlessness of resolve, and age-old maturity.
With a slight smirk, Naruto whispered to himself:
"Today, it begins."
The Vortex of History and Human Hypocrisy
Deep within the dark, water-filled corridors of his mindscape, Kurama—the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox—sat behind massive iron bars. Today, his burning, embers-of-fire eyes observed more than just Naruto. He felt the entire aura of Konoha.
The whole village held its breath in anticipation: Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi, the shadow ruler of 'Root' Danzo Shimura, the ANBU, and all the prominent clans—Uchiha, Hyuga, Nara, Yamanaka, Akimichi. One way or another, every pair of eyes would focus on this child today.
They assumed today marked the start of a controlled, formal chapter in the Jinchuriki's life. They believed this boy was stepping into their system, ready to dance to their tunes and be molded into a weapon.
A quiet, bitter chuckle echoed in Kurama's mind.
How could they know the true story hadn't started today? It had begun six years ago.
During one of his deep meditative sessions, Naruto had told him:
> "History follows an eternal rule, Kurama... For thousands of years, nothing changes. The wheel of time turns along the same rut, and humans repeat the exact same mistakes. Then suddenly comes a single day... when thousands of years' worth of events unfold at once, turning an entire era upside down."
>
Opening his eyes, Naruto had added in a cold tone: "Today is that day. From today, that new era begins."
At the time, Kurama had brushed it off as mere strange talk from a child. But today, the full weight of those words resonated within him. He rested his heavy head upon his massive paws, gathered his nine immense tails behind him, and sank into the ash-ridden memories of history.
Kurama's Memories: The Destruction of Chakra
He recalled his childhood—that golden, sacred era when he was not alone, when his eight siblings accompanied him alongside their father, the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo. In those days, the true purpose of chakra was to foster understanding, harmony, and peace among humans (Ninshu). The Sage had never viewed them as tools of destruction.
Then Hagoromo passed away, and the world transformed.
Human greed, jealousy, and lust for power plunged the world into a terrible darkness of silence, bloodshed, and solitude. Humans repurposed chakra strictly into a tool of power and war. Kurama had watched it all from afar—one war, then another, then a third.
In the beginning, Kurama used his vast power to try to shield humans from the horrors of war. But human nature was inherently warped and fearful; his help brought them horror rather than relief. The very people he saved screamed in terror:
"Demon!"
"Monster!"
"Incarnation of destruction!"
Kurama realized that humans didn't care to understand his power—they merely feared it. Disgusted, he turned his back on humanity entirely, retreating into deep slumber within dark forests and deep caves. Sleep was not rest for him; it was a way to escape the vile games of human nature.
Then two fools stepped onto the stage of the world: Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha—the reincarnations of the Sage's sons, Asura and Indra!
They founded a new political structure called the "Shinobi Village," which organized war rather than eradicating it. During that era, a few arrogant shinobi fools dared to try to capture Kurama. A single swipe of his tail blasted them away. Two odd-looking brothers, Ginkaku and Kinkaku, were swallowed whole during the tail stroke. They wreaked havoc inside his stomach, eating his flesh to survive until Kurama, thoroughly disgusted, vomited them out, sending them fleeing for their lives.
But the real humiliation was yet to come.
Years later, Madara Uchiha stood before him. Using his cursed, poisonous eyes (Sharingan), he crushed Kurama's consciousness, controlled him, and hurled him into battle against Hashirama like a destructive weapon.
At the Valley of the End, Hashirama emerged victorious. And then came the lowest form of human hypocrisy: Hashirama stripped Kurama of his freedom and sealed him inside his wife, Mito Uzumaki. What's more, he hunted down Kurama's eight siblings and distributed them across other villages like toys at a market!
When asked why this was done, the answer came:
"Your power is too dangerous for the world."
'Hahaha!' The same bitter, poisonous laugh echoed inside Kurama today. 'You people capture and lock us up in cages like livestock, and our power is dangerous? Confound it all! Even the blood of the Sage could not escape this human sickness.'
Then Hashirama died. Mito Uzumaki withdrew almost entirely inside her seal. She didn't venture out, yet terrible news from the outside world seeped past the walls of the seal:
"Mito-sama, your son was killed in battle."
"Your daughter was killed as well..."
Kurama distinctly felt the horrific fall of Uzushiogakure through Mito's seal. When clans from across the world allied to destroy Uzushiogakure out of fear of their immense Sealing Jutsu (Fuinjutsu), the streets ran red with Uzumaki blood. Not a single ally village, including Konoha, sent help.
"Your grandson Nawaki has been killed."
"Your granddaughter Tsunade has left the village; she spends her days and nights lost in gambling and alcohol."
Mito would weep, wipe her tears, and immerse herself back into the study of seals.
And when she died, Kurama received a new prison: Kushina Uzumaki!
'Brilliant! Congratulations on the new prison!' Kurama had scoffed. Kushina began with the same refrain: "You are an evil demon, stay quiet in your corner."
Time passed. Kushina grew up, fell in love, and became a mother. But then came that horrific night. On the night of her child's birth, another masked figure wearing the legacy of Indra (disguised as Madara) appeared. He pulled Kurama from his seal and enslaved him once more.
'The strongest Tailed Beast! My foot! I was reduced to a helpless toy in human games.'
That night, Kurama unleashed all his stored rage upon the village. Then Kushina's husband—the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze—stepped forward. He bound Kurama once again and, working with his wife, sealed Kurama inside their own newborn infant!
'Bravo! Humans have now started using newborn infants as weapons and prisons! Congratulations to human civilization on another upgrade!'
Kurama had attempted to kill the tiny infant with his massive claw to free him permanently from the cruelty and pain of this world. But the child's parents leaped in front of the strike... "To save their son!"
'If you wanted to save him,' bitterness festered in Kurama's mind, 'you should have saved him from this cruel world, not from me! I was setting him free from this hell.'
Both of them died. Kurama's existence was split into two halves—one half sealed inside the Shinigami (Reaper) and the other half inside the child.
'The grand, powerful, evil Nine-Tails... What a joke they've made of me!'
The First Encounter with an Extraordinary Soul
Yet... this child turned out to be completely different.
Kurama recalled the moment he first sensed the child's presence. Right after the sealing, when he probed the infant's consciousness, he was left stunned. The child's soul was so immense, resolute, ancient, serene, and vast that in thousands of years Kurama had never felt such energy—surpassing even the Sage of Six Paths himself!
Rather than attacking, he chose to observe silently.
He noticed how the orphanage caretakers behaved normally for the first few months, but as rumors spread that this child was the demon fox, their attitude shifted. If the infant cried from hunger, a bottle was placed from a distance, diapers were changed while holding their breath, and people fled as if he were a disease.
Then one night, a weeping woman entered the room holding a candle and a sharp kitchen knife. "You monster! You don't have the right to live! You killed my husband!" She raised the knife, only for an ANBU operative to leap through the window, restrain her, and drag her outside.
Kurama had laughed hysterically behind his seal, 'Hahaha! These fools actually think this innocent child is me! How utterly absurd!'
Just then, a flat, calm, and crystal-clear voice echoed in the dark space of his mind:
"They simply needed someone to hate for their grief and failures... and the rulers of this village decided I would be that excuse."
Kurama froze! In front of the massive bars, a child the size of a newborn sat in deep meditation.
Kurama asked in disbelief, "A-Are you really just a child?"
Naruto's soul answered in the same flat tone, "Souls and physical bodies run on different rules. A powerful, awakened soul moves at its own speed."
Kurama: "How do you know about me?"
Naruto: "You are Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox."
Kurama's eyes widened, "How much do you know?!"
Naruto offered a faint smile, "A lot! Let's talk. We have to live together for a long time, so let's skip the hate-filled speeches and anger. It's a waste of time for both of us."
That moment marked the first turning point in Kurama's existence. From that day on, a unique dynamic of conversation, understanding, and learning developed between them.
Six years passed. Those years spent with Naruto changed something deep within Kurama. The rage and memories of the past remained, but they were now covered by a new layer of understanding and sovereignty.
The Academy Gates
Kurama returned from the whirlpool of his memories.
Naruto walked toward the Academy. His steps were calm. On the streets, people altered their path upon seeing him; some parents pulled their children closer. Yet Naruto's stride never wavered.
Kurama called out from within, "Boy..."
Naruto responded in his mind, "Yes?"
"What happens today?"
Naruto looked at the massive structure of the Academy, "What was always meant to happen. Today, they see me for the first time."
Kurama chuckled, "And what will they see?"
A subtle smirk touched Naruto's face, "Only as much as I allow them to see."
Naruto stood before the grand entrance of the Academy. The street bustled with children and parents—conversations, laughter, and excitement filled the air. But as Naruto arrived, a few eyes turned toward him... then more... then others. Slowly, the surrounding noise faded into a deep, invisible silence.
He paused for a moment, observing the grand building, its emblem, and the main gate. He had waited six years for this day. Today, he stepped inside the very system that had tried to define him since birth.
Surging excitement flared inside Kurama. 'Today is the day everything turns upside down... I have no doubt about it!'
Naruto remained composed—like a vast, unfathomable ocean. Both of them—Naruto and Kurama—had evolved far beyond ordinary thinking, reaching a plane where neither fear nor doubt could exist.
A cool morning breeze drifted through his golden hair. His blue eyes held icy clarity and limitless resolve. It was a silence that signaled the arrival of a massive, historic storm.
Without hesitation, Naruto took his first step inside the Academy gates. The mask worn for six years was about to fall. The wheel of history had turned, and nothing in this world could stop it.
