Life as a single man had been good to Deacon. He just had not appreciated how much until it had all been taken away from him.
For one, as a single man he had gotten to stay up late at night working. Knowing that in the morning he would have an extra few hours of shut eye before walking into the corporate world, feeling refreshed, and ready to fight off all those who tried to make a play for Roth Group. But now that was a thing of the past.
He still slept late, working until he could not anymore. But the mornings were no longer a time for him to enjoy rest. Instead. in the mornings now Deacon had to grit his teeth as he listened to Haley Slater butchering songs in the shower. Then once she was finally gone he had to pull a pillow over his head, trying to drown out the sounds of her banging pots and pans downstairs.
