She truly believed with everything in her that she was slowly watching as Deacon Roth lost his mind.
Deacon Roth's descent into madness was the weirdest thing that Haley had ever seen. The man had come down with an unhealthy obsession for shoe racks of all things.
Well, that was not completely true. It was not shoe racks in general, but just one particular shoe rack. Ever since he had bought the shoe rack, presenting it to Haley as though it were a luxury car, Roth went out of his way to talk about the shoe rack.
"Look at the shoe rack, Slater. Is it not nice and sturdy? It certainly looks like it can carry all your shoes, doesn't it?"
