Chapter 100: Shandora
Angel Island - Celebration Banquet
Fireworks exploded over Skypiea, painting the sea of clouds in colors that rivaled the Milky Way.
It was a celebration, and a sign that the shadow over their hearts had finally lifted.
The people of Angel Island and the warriors of Shandia sat together in the same plaza, sharing the same food, drinking the same wine, and laughing together for the first time in history.
Gan Fall, wearing his old knight's armor, stood solemnly on the dais. Beside him stood the Warrior Chief of the Shandians, Wiper.
Two leaders, once mortal enemies, now stood side by side.
Gan Fall took a deep breath and addressed the crowd. "For four hundred years, we hated each other... we killed each other... countless lives were lost to this sea of clouds."
His gaze swept over the elders, the warriors, the mothers, and the children. Every eye was on him.
"But today, we finally understand. The real enemy was never each other."
Wiper nodded, his fist clenched, his voice strong. "The root of our hatred was obsession. We couldn't let go of our desire for the land."
The crowd was silent for a moment.
Then, a Shandian warrior gently took the hand of an Angel Island woman. Some wept silently. An elder patted the shoulder of a former enemy, choking back tears.
In this moment of gentle transformation—
In the center of the banquet, the air was filled with delicious smells and chaos.
Luffy, Ace, and Roy were surrounded by a mountain of Skypiean food.
"Garrrrble—! ROAST MEAT!! TEN MORE PLATES!!"
Luffy's mouth was stuffed so full his cheeks looked like a hamster's, his words unintelligible.
Ace, sipping coconut juice, looked at him with disgust. "Your table manners are somehow worse than when we were kids..."
"Hmm?" Luffy looked up, a fish bone hanging from his mouth. "Huh? I've always looked like this."
Roy leaned on his hand, watching them bicker, his eyes crinkled in a smile. Then, as if remembering something trivial, he said casually, "By the way... Shandora is real."
"PFFT! Kaff-koff!!"
Ace choked on his drink, spraying it all over Zoro's head.
"Big Bro Roy, what are you talking about?!"
"AAAAH?!!" Zoro wiped his face, furious. "Drink your own drink! Why'd you spray me?!"
Law adjusted his hat, his mouth twitching. "...That's a pretty big bombshell to just drop."
While the group exploded, the rest of the banquet went dead silent.
Gan Fall and Wiper turned their heads slowly, mechanically. The citizens of Angel Island and Shandia stared, their expressions shifting from confusion to shock, and finally to— "EEEEEEHHHH?!!!"
A deafening scream echoed through the banquet!
Everyone stood up at once, knocking over chairs and plates. The air was filled with the sound of crashing tableware.
"Shandora?! You mean... it's real?! The legendary City of Gold?!"
"I thought it sank into the White Sea ages ago?!"
"We've been looking for four hundred years and never found a trace!!"
Luffy's eyes lit up. "Eh?! Gold?! Where? Is it behind the meat?!"
Ace was still coughing, hitting his chest. "Bro, are you drunk? What are you saying?!"
The crowd was in chaos, everyone's faces screaming, "What did you just say?!"
Amidst the uproar, Roy slowly stood up, his smile calm and collected.
"Looks like everyone's interested."
He raised his hand and waved—
"FWOOSH!!!"
Space trembled violently, like a ripple across a lake.
Everyone's vision blurred, and a high-pitched whistle filled their ears, like the wind blowing through a thousand years of history.
When they opened their eyes—
"WAAAAH—!!"
A blinding golden light washed over them.
Beneath their feet was a street paved with gold bricks, glowing with a warm light.
Around them stood palaces, carved pillars, and towers reaching into the sky. The entire city seemed to be a miracle forged by the sun itself.
It was the legendary City of Gold, Shandora!
The ancient city, thought lost to history, now stood silently, real and tangible, right before their eyes.
"Th-This is..."
Gan Fall trembled, his pupils shaking. His knees gave way, and he fell to the golden ground, tears streaming down his face.
"Shandora... The City of Gold... It... It really exists!"
Wiper's face went through a dozen emotions before his eyes turned red. He knelt, pressing his fist to the ground, his voice low and thunderous. "The 'Ancient City' of our ancestors... is real!"
In that moment, the Skypieans and Shandians were stunned.
The story they had been told was a "myth" countless times was now real before their eyes.
Some opened their mouths but couldn't speak. Some collapsed, weeping. Most just reached out to touch the bricks, the walls, the pillars, just to make sure it wasn't a dream.
"WOOOOOAAAAAAH—!!!"
A scream of pure excitement broke the silence. Luffy, eyes shining, was bouncing up and down!
"It's huge! It's shiny! It's all gold! SO COOL!!"
He ran to a massive gold wall, rubbing his face against it, grinning from ear to ear. "Hehehe~ I wonder what golden meat tastes like!"
Ace stood nearby, looking at the sleeping city with a rare expression of solemnity and respect.
Sunlight filtered down from the top of the clouds, reflecting off the city in a dazzling display. It looked like a kingdom of gods sleeping at the end of history.
Zoro walked up a set of stairs, tapping a leaning gold pillar. It made a dull, heavy sound. "It's thicker than I thought."
Kuina stood by a broken golden step, staring at the ancient carvings, worn by time but still shining. She reached out, tracing the old characters, her eyes full of thought.
"This city carries so many silent oaths..."
She looked up at the main citadel. "So... 'miracles' really do exist."
Law stood beside her, silent, observing the city's structure with complex eyes. "A city made of gold..." he muttered. "Illogical... but magnificent."
He tipped his hat. "Maybe... historical miracles don't need logic."
Meanwhile, Roy walked alone into the deepest part of the city.
His expression was calm, his steps steady, as if walking through the flow of time itself.
Around him lay the glorious ruins of the past—broken pillars, collapsed temples, stairs covered in moss—whispering ancient legends in the light and shadow.
But Roy didn't stop. He looked up, his gaze piercing the clouds to the true heart of the city—the Golden Belfry.
Over hundreds of years, the massive Giant Jack beanstalk had grown, silently uprooting the entire bell tower and lifting it high into the sky.
Now, the Golden Belfry floated hundreds of meters in the air, half-hidden in the clouds, like the remains of a god.
Vines wrapped around the tower like pythons, green and strong. The surface of the Golden Bell was weathered, but it still shone, radiating a divine pressure.
It wasn't just a bell made of gold. It was a promise that had gone unfulfilled for four hundred years.
The wind whistled through the tower, carrying an ancient, solemn whisper.
Roy warped to the base of the bell, standing quietly. He reached out, his fingers brushing the ancient text, as if touching an old soul.
Sunlight bathed him, his shadow merging with the bell's.
"The promise between Noland and Kalgara—"
He whispered, answering the silence of four centuries.
"Today, it is time to fulfill it."
He slowly raised his fist. The entire Sky Island seemed to hold its breath, waiting for the ancient echo.
"DOOOONG—!!!"
He punched the center of the bell.
The ancient, deep, resonant sound of the bell rang out instantly!
The sound pierced the clouds, echoing over the entire Sky Island, and traveled down through the White Sea, reaching the Blue Sea far below!
It wasn't just a sound. It was a vow that crossed four hundred years of time, a hymn to ancestors and peace!
Gan Fall wept openly. "Four hundred years... finally..."
Wiper raised his fist, slamming it into the golden ground. "The oath of our ancestors is fulfilled today!"
The wall of hatred between the Angel Islanders and the Shandians crumbled like mist before the sun.
They embraced, crying and laughing.
Some knelt in prayer. Some held the hands of their former enemies, saying the words they had waited years to say: "We... finally see this day."
Roy stood under the Golden Bell, looking out over the shining city, his voice warm and firm. "From today on, this is your shared home."
"From today on—"
"There will be no more war between Skypiea and Shandia!"
Cheers erupted like a storm!
"YEAAAAAAAH—!!!"
"LONG LIVE PEACE!!"
"HERO OF THE BLUE SEA—!!"
The crowd boiled over. Fireworks shot up again, blooming in colors over the Golden Bell!
Gan Fall wiped his tears and stepped onto the platform below the bell. He announced solemnly, "I propose that Skypiea and Shandia merge to form a new nation—"
"The Kingdom of God!"
Wiper raised his arm high. "The Shandians agree!!"
"WAAAAAAHHHH—!!!"
From this moment on, a new era for Sky Island officially began.
The ancient bell, ringing in the depths of time, planted a seed of hope in everyone's hearts.
