Chapter 99: The Fall of the Thunder God
Angel Island - High Sky Battlefield
Thunderclouds boiled, and the heavens trembled.
Enel, in his Thunder God form, roared, lightning exploding and swirling around his massive body. He was divine wrath incarnate, his pressure crushing the entire Sky Island!
His golden pupils were bloodshot, his killing intent palpable.
"Wretched Blue Sea scum... You've pushed me this far...!!!"
The Thunder God spread his arms wide. Hundreds of millions of volts of electricity condensed in his palms into a blinding sphere of lightning. The sky itself seemed to twist and stretch!
High above, the clouds shuddered violently, and countless lightning bolts gathered at the zenith, as if the gates of heaven were opening!
"Divine Punishment: Thunder Prison!!!"
"BOOM—!!!"
In an instant, hundreds of lightning pillars as thick as mountains crashed down from the sky, a dense forest of destruction sweeping across the world!
It was the "God's" judgment, lightning piercing the cloud sea like spears of divine rage!
Facing this heavenly punishment, the two brothers didn't flinch.
"Ace!"
Luffy's dragon eyes burned, a gale rising around him!
"I'm ready!"
Ace's fists roared, flames boiling!
—Brothers united, two powers resonating!
Luffy took a deep breath, his dragon throat expanding. Pink scales rippled with metallic light as his Dragon Breath compressed and spun wildly inside him!
"Demolition Wind: Wild Dance!!!"
With a roar, the breath poured out—a hurricane of wind blades, a storm of a thousand knives!
Wind blades clashed with lightning pillars, explosions ringing out as they tore a hole in the thunder prison!
At the same time, Ace's flames condensed on his arms like meteors. Azure fire distorted the air, compressing into a massive pillar of flame!
"Great Flame Commandment: Flame Pillar!!!"
He thrust both fists forward, the fire pillar shooting into the sky, merging with Luffy's storm!
The moment the two forces met—Wind wrapped fire, fire carried wind, spinning and roaring!
"Brother Combo: Storm-Flame Wild Dance!!!"
"BOOM—!!! BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!!"
The fire-wind spiral became a spear of destruction, piercing the void, aimed straight at the Thunder God!
Enel's face twisted. He tried to gather more lightning to defend, but his Mantra told him the terrifying truth: he couldn't change the fate of being hit!
"Don't be ridiculous! I AM GOD!!!"
His Thunder God body exploded with light, his arms becoming lightning blades crossed in defense!
"Thunder God: Ten Thousand Thunder Wall!!!"
Thousands of lightning arcs formed a defensive barrier, the sound of thunder a deafening roar!
The fire-wind spiral slammed into it!
"CRACK-CRACK-CRACK—!!!"
The lightning shield shattered like glass! The pillar of wind and fire tore through his defense and slammed squarely into Enel's chest!
"IMPOSSIBLE—!!!"
Enel's eyes bulged. Lightning and blood spray erupted from his mouth as his Thunder God body began to distort violently!
The lightning collapsed, the current went wild!
"GYAAAAAAH—!!!"
Screaming, he was swallowed by the firestorm. The hundred-meter Thunder God exploded high in the sky into a rain of light, golden lightning falling like meteors into the distant cloud sea!
"BOOOOOOOOM—!!!"
The entire Sky Island shook!
In the distance, countless Skypieans looked up. The Thunder God, symbol of "Divine Might," was falling like ash. As the light rained down, it looked like a miracle!
God had fallen.
They had won!
High in the sky, the pink dragon form slowly shrank. In the afterglow of the fire, Luffy returned to human form, his face a mix of excitement and exhaustion.
Ace knelt on the cloud platform, the flames not yet fully extinguished, a familiar, roguish grin on his face. "Phew... that felt good!"
The sky finally quieted, leaving only drifting clouds and the scars of battle illuminated by the sunset.
Conis stood on the cloud shore, her white dress fluttering. She looked at the sky torn by storms and azure fire, tears welling in her eyes.
She whispered, her voice a proclamation to the entire Sky Island: "They did it..."
"They... defeated 'God'!!!"
For a moment, the entire battlefield was silent, as if the air itself was holding its breath.
The people of Angel Island peeked out from their shelters, looking up at the sky in disbelief.
"W-We won?!"
"Enel... was defeated?!"
"God... lost?!"
After a short, oppressive silence—
"WAAAAAAHHHH—!!!"
"WE'RE FREE!!!"
"GOD HAS FALLEN—WE'RE FREE!!!"
"LONG LIVE THE BLUE SEA HEROES!!!"
A flood of joy erupted in the streets. Crying, laughing, shouting—it all merged into a wave that swept the island!
Angel Island citizens, Shandian survivors, even the White Berets who had bowed their heads—everyone looked up at the Blue Sea dwellers with awe, gratitude, and tears!
On the other side of the clouds, Gan Fall, riding his sky-horse Pierre, arrived with the remnants of his guard and the Shandian warriors just in time to see the "Thunder God" fall.
The old, tough former God clenched his fists, tears running down his weathered face.
"Skypiea... is finally saved..."
On the ruined cloud platform, Ace and Luffy landed one after the other.
Both were covered in wounds, their clothes scorched, but they wore the same grin.
They looked at each other and extended their right fists—
Bump!
Fists touched, the afterglow of fire and dragon scales mingling. Their brotherhood needed no words.
"Nice work, Luffy!"
"Hehe, Ace's fire was super cool too!"
Laughter echoed in the high sky, free and relieved. Roy walked over slowly, his coat flapping, looking calm and collected.
He stood before them, a lazy smile on his lips. "Hmm, not bad. My hell training wasn't wasted after all."
Behind him, Zoro, Kuina, and Law walked up.
Zoro crossed his arms and huffed. "Tch. Next time, I'm not sitting on the bench for a fight like that!"
Kuina smiled. "Your 'Combo Attack' was truly spectacular."
Law adjusted his hat, his eyes calm. "But... that guy isn't dead yet."
Everyone froze, looking toward the distant cloud sea.
Sure enough, in the scorched clouds, a familiar figure staggered to his feet. The lightning was gone, but the rage remained.
Enel was charred black, his clothes in tatters, the light gone from his golden eyes, but he still roared through gritted teeth. "You... insects...!!!"
His hand trembled as he raised it, trying to gather lightning, but only weak sparks sputtered.
His current was dry, his Haki out of control, his Mantra in chaos. He had no strength left to fight.
"Still struggling?"
The voice rang out, and Enel's vision went black.
"What?! When did you—"
Enel struggled to look up. A tall figure was standing in front of him.
"What's happening... Mantra didn't react at all?!"
"He's faster than me?!"
THUD! Roy raised his hand and gently tapped Enel on the back of the neck.
SMACK! Enel felt a massive force hit him. His eyes bulged, he spat blood foam!
The once-arrogant "God" rolled his eyes back and collapsed, unconscious.
Everyone: "He took him out... just like that...?"
Roy turned back, spreading his hands with a relaxed expression. "Alright. 'God' is dealt with."
"Time for a banquet, brats!"
"YEAAAAAAAH—!!!"
Amidst the cheers, the group began their return.
Under a sky clear of lightning, Skypiea welcomed a true dawn.
