Synopsis
The world was ending, and I was watching it all happen. I watched as the blue skies tore open, revealing the endless void beyond the stars. I watched as hell itself rained down—creatures from nightmares and fantasy spilling through the cracks in reality. And I watched as humanity changed. When a Voice was heard from above, it promised humanity a fighting chance through Systems. They awakened powers. Some awakened the ability to create fire from the palm of their hands, others could control storms... Everyone had finally gotten everything they needed to fight back against the invasion. Everyone except me. My System came with only a single message: [You have awakened the Sin System: Lust.] [Condition: Form a bond within three days or the System will deactivate.] No combat power. No elemental control. Just… that. How the hell do I survive with just that? *** Unknown to him, his system was a more than meets the eye.

Chapter 1 - Prologue: The End

What a boring world we live in.

The thought crossed his mind as he absently stared out the classroom window.

Everything looked the same as the previous days, and the day before.

He watched as students who arrived lated tried jumping over the school's fence only to be caught by a teacher waiting for them.

He observed the same cars, he had been seeing for the past weeks, honking at the same crowded intersection.

He saw the same stray dog sleeping by the vending machines near the gate.

Every day felt like a repeat of the last, so much so that he could predict what was going to happen next without even looking.

Like the fact that the same crazy man screaming that the world was about to end would pass in the next few seconds.

True to his thoughts, just outside the school's gate, a man wearing a tattered jacket with nothing covering his feet, stood with a cardboard in his hand.

He started shouting the same thing he'd shouted every morning for the past month.

"Repent for the skies will soon open and the sins of man will lay bare before heavens!"

"The Recokning will soon arrive!" The man continued, "and there will be nowhere to run! Repent now or forever live in regret."

But as always, his voice was drowned out by the endless sound of honking as no one bothered to pay attention to him.

"I wish something interesting would happen for once," he muttered with a sigh only for a voice to resound in his head a moment later.

Duck.

Without even questioning it, he ducked low moments before a white object flew past his his head, landing on the face of unfortunate student behind.

"Mr. Eden, I guess the view outside is a lot more interesting than my lecture?" The lecturer, Mr Julius, had an annoyed look on his face as he looked at Azrael Eden.

He seem more annoyed at the fact that his chalk never hit his intended target. The kid seem to have some kind of sixth sense or something.

"Pretty much," Azrael answered before his mind could even catch up.

"….."

"…."

Yeah, he shouldn't have said that.

Mr. Julius' eyebrow twitched, and the room was soon filled with muffled snickers.

A few students tried, and failed, to hide their laughter as they covered their faces with their notebooks, while others just stared at Azrael like he'd lost his mind.

"Pretty much?" the lecturer repeated, his tone deceptively calm. "Then perhaps you'd prefer to experience the world outside for the rest of the period?"

Azrael sighed. "No, sir."

"Good, then perhaps you'll grace us with your attention for the next—"

Boom

Mr Julius didn't get the chance to finish before he was interrupted by an insanely loud sound.

It sounded like thunder, which was ridiculous since the sky was comp–

Azrael's eyes moved back outside the window and up the sky, only to be faced with a scene that he could only describe with one word…

The end

The previously blue sky had split open revealing the vast emptiness of the space beyond.

An emptiness filled by distant glowing balls of flames, probably distant planets, but that wasn't even the most terrifying scene right now.

From the fracture, flaming balls started falling down or so they seemed at first, until they got close and Azrael could make out their figures....

They were humanoid shaped...

With wings?

"Hahaha! It's here, the reckoning is—" the same crazy man shouted at the top of his lungs, before kneeling to the ground, but before his words could be completed one of the flaming creatures fell on him, creating a crater where he previously stood.

"I-is that a-a—"

The students now stood at the windows with horrified looks on their faces as they watched the creature crawl out the crater.

It had two horns on his head, massive black wings and red skin which definitely wasn't from the blood of the crazy man.

"A demon," the words left Azrael's mouth, completing the words of the previous student.

The demon's attention was neither on them nor the other humans running around in panic as multiple other demons fell from the skies.

With a beat of its wings, it took to the skies again and that's when the next creatures descended.... Angels.

Or that was the only way they could describe the creatures currently fighting against the demons in the skies.

They had massive white wings, golden Halos hanging just above their heads and in their hands were weapons of the same color.

"Get away from the window," Mr Julius order, though his tone was now far from commanding.

They could clearly hear how hard he was trying to hide his panic.

Run

A moment after the lecturer spoke, Azrael heard the voice in his head again and like he had been doing his entire life, he listened.

Quickly he hopping away from the window, and only seconds later something crashed through the wall, turning all the kids in its way to paste.

Dust filled the entire classroom as whatever just broke through the wall, crashed on the far end, right where Mr. Julius stood.

The scream of a girl was the first thing Azrael heard as the dust slowly cleared up. He turned to her and then to where she was looking only to be faced with half of Mr Julius still standing there.

It took a moment but he finally fell over with a splat, blood splashing on the face of some of the students who were closer.

Growl!

A low growl was heard the moment Mr Julius' corpse hit the floor. Azrael's eyes moved towards the sound and he immediately froze when his eyes landed on it.

It was the same stray dog that lay close to the vending machine, but now completely different.

It had bloody drool dripping from its mouth like it had rabies, it had red glowing eyes that were hungrily at the students.

Run.
