On the other hand, in the verandah where Lucas and Jordan stood, a heavy silence descended around the environment. Jordan couldn't find the courage to speak with Lucas, while the latter kept a stoic expression—far different from the smiley one he wore earlier—while holding Henry, who was furiously dragging one of the shirt threads.
Lucas was staring at the barricaded wall of the verandah and saw different horrifying monsters flying all about. Each was a different shade of abomination, all growling, probably starving and in need of flesh to tear apart, but currently none was available, which made it difficult for them to trespass.
"Oh shit, they are all over the ground. Escaping now is close to zero," he announced while still looking.
Jordan didn't reply. He was scared of their new lives now, and the weapon he was given was a bit complicated to use. He couldn't believe that they would be battling for their lives day by day, probably injured, battered, or near death.
