Chapter 1 - Chapter One: Agent Mikaela Reeves

"Shit." Mikaela curses as he barely dodges a wooden bat swung swiftly at him by one of the gang members, aiming at his head.

"Tell them to avoid hitting you in the face. It's your greatest asset." A teasing feminine voice advises him through a hidden device on his left ear.

"Now is not the time for jokes, Darcy." Mikeala grits his teeth as he knee-kicks one of the men in the neck and quickly lands a punch to another in the face, knocking them both to the ground.

He checks his watch; 8:00pm. On a Saturday. He should be at home in his PJs binge watching dramas, not here at the Nexpoint City's docks on a mission sent by the Government Special Forces to stop an illegal drug shipment by a notorious gang with an annoying intelligence operative on his ear.

The price to pay for being a secret agent…

"Take this!" A gang member charges at Mikaela from behind with a long wooden plank.

Mikeala simply moves out of the way as the man runs into a shipping container, hits his head, and falls down.

"That's the last of them." He reports back to Darcy.

"Great! I'm sending a team now to confiscate the goods. You can return to base as soon as they get there. I'll inform the Director-General right away."

"Alright." Mikaela says after he sighs of relief, he moves to the edge of the docks and stares down at the moving waters. It's pretty dark, but he still makes out his reflection due to the street lights. A five-foot-eight, pale, slender, young man of Scandinavian descent, slightly muscular, in a tightly fitted jet black spandex jumpsuit that has a golden zipper in the middle. His platinum hair, short and currently dishevelled, his emerald colored eyes, stands out as his most striking feature.

He turns his head around at the sound of a moving vehicle. He sees a black van, its windows tinted, making its way down the docks alongside a red truck.

Here comes the calvary…

It's time to head back.

"What are you waiting for, Mika? Want to help them clear up the place?"

Mikaela stays quiet, his hand reaching to take off the device.

"You never did like working with teams..."

Mika reaches the base that was situated underneath the woods, far from Nexpoint city, He gets off his black power bike and takes his helmet over, revealing his messy blonde locks

Among the several considerable cons of being a secret government agent, getting to have a vehicle of your choice is not one of them.

Walking down the entrance to the main hall, he is greeted by fellow agents and tech gurus.

Due to his high mission success rate as a lone agent, he has made quite the name for himself. Especially being twenty-seven years old, such a reputation was usually reserved for the veterans here.

Although not everyone is a fan…

Mikaela groans internally as he spots a tall, curly redheaded man in a fitted black polo and jeans. He is in a laid-back pose, leaning against the wall, right next to him, the door to the Director-General's office. The toothy smirk on his face pissed Mikaela off.

Tyler Coleman. What does this asshole want now? Doesn't matter. I'll just pretend I don't see him.

As he walks straight ahead, eyes locked on the office's door, pretending that the ginger was just a figment of his imagination, Tyler steps away from the wall right in front of the door, blocking Mikaela.

"What's the rush, Angel?" he grins like a 90s sitcom villain.

All agents at the Special Forces are assigned codenames. Some in reference to their skills, others their quirks. Mikaela was given this in reference to his name, although most people in the force saw it more as a reference to his looks. Tyler included.

Mikaela barely used it due to this misunderstanding– and Tyler knew that.

"Move out of the way Coleman, you're blocking the door." Mikaela tells him bluntly.

"Alright, Alright…no need to fuss. I just wanted to say hi." Tyler checks him out shamelessly "You know, you're one of the few guys here that can actually pull off a spandex..."

"Excuse me?!"

"Come on Angel…when will you give me a chance?" He whispers, his voice barely hiding his desperation, his left arm slowly making its way around Mikaela's waist. "You must be stressed out after tonight's mission. How about you come over to my place? I promise to make it worth your time."
