Chapter 32 - Upper Five

Unexpectedly a bright golden light sparked among the swarming wisps. The figure emitted a powerful energy signature enough to vanquish everything around it.

Pauline blazed through the swarm, primordial energy encamped her body, sending the fire creatures to their doom as she bolted towards the sanctuary.

She caught the sanctuary on its way to crash, lifting it with both of her hands.

Her golden armour glowed, a powerful bright golden ring of energy shot from her body, turning the crimson sky white for a split second, its appearance matched that of the sun.

The wind pressure on the island increased, Zaya grabbed onto the tree she'd sat beside, slowly she began to lose grip of the tree she held as the wind force increased.

A big portal appeared over the island, the sanctuary coming out of the whirling energy mist, Zaya was astonished seeing Pauline move the sanctuary from the portal towards the ground effortlessly.

The pressure from the wind reduced, Zaya hopped from the tree she was to another aiming for where the sanctuary had landed.

The sanctuary was landed on top of the shallow hill, beside the mountain. At the front of the sanctuary stood Pauline, energy glowed in her hands, as she used telekinetic energy to open the gate of the sanctuary.

The alpha commander of the veteran army, along with the mayor and other high esteemed officials strutted out from the sanctuary, walking towards Pauline.

"Well done, Pauline," Chinami said. "It was a good initiative you took. Have you confirmed the safety of this island?" She asked.

"Yes, Alpha Commander," Pauline replied. There was a nearby rattle close to where some bushes and a few trees, coming out from the shadows, was a purple half breed fox, which changed to her human form.

"I am astonished at how your battle outfit seems to have torn, and yet it somehow finds its way to your body when you transform.

How is that possible?" The mayor said, inquisitive.

Zaya answered, "June made it for me." Chinami then told Pauline, "You remain here and protect the island.

I, along with your mum and Zaya, would return to lead the war, as it has just gotten tougher. You must remain here, yours and their safety is what matters."

Pauline opened a portal. Zaya returned to her fox form, Chinami and Pauline's mum walked through the portal.

Zaya was about to follow but hesitated, facing back towards Pauline.

"Yes, I know, Zaya, there's a lot you want to ask me. Said Pauline rolling her golden eyes.

I'll surely tell you everything, alright?"

Zaya nodded, smiled, and jumped through the portal.

She landed in the midst of the flaming battle. Glancing around in shock, flames were everywhere. It's not been long since the new fire creatures have arrived, yet thousands of veterans had fallen, leaving a few hundred others who were terribly injured, while some still had the strength to fight.

The same could be said of the fire creatures, as most of them laid dead on the ground, thanks to Pauline's butchering of the wisps, their numbers have also been greatly reduced.

In the red night's sky was the champion of the tournament of thousands, his blade dazzling as bright as ever. Streaks of blood could be seen all over his armor, as he fought with three dragons, all at the same time, beams also firing towards his location, he dodged relentlessly, fighting all the three dragons continuously.

Zaya's eyes spotted Chinami, along with Carla, also in the heat of the battle, finishing off the fire creatures at their bay at breakneck speed, rage apparent in their eyes.

Zaya was surprised as she never thought they could hold a sword properly.

Now, they used their swords to kill the beasts like they were making Monday's breakfast.

Zaya squinted her eyes, her gaze also falling on Zoey and Natasha. Fortunately, they were still on the mighty jaguar that tore through the remnants of the fire creatures at a speed that her eyes could barely catch up with.

But something was strange, there were three girls on the jaguar's back, and the third wasn't Ashara. Zaya was puzzled.

"Watch out!"

A voice yelled, Zaya was hit from the right side. She crashed on the ground, along with the person that hit her.

"Ashara

Is that you? asked Zaya.

What are you doing standing there, Zaya? Ashara asked, panting.

That hammer could have killed you. Zaya then realized that standing not too far away from both of them, was the Viking himself, the hammer defied the laws of physics by returning back to him.

Zaya could see his face clearly, thanks to the fire that burnt around them. It was covered in a dark mask. An aura of dragon primordial energy emitting from his body, his hammer hissed against the ground, as he walked towards them.

"Ashara, can you see the viking ships filled with more fire beasts?" asked Zaya.

"Yes, I can, " replied Zaya, the ones attacking Korin while failing brutally," Ashara confirmed.

"Yes, those ones," Zaya replied. "If I throw you towards one of them, do you think you can destroy all of it before I finish this Viking?"

"You bet I can," answered Ashara, smiling.

Zaya then threw the half-breed cat up towards the closest Viking ship. Her gaze returned back towards the Viking.

The Viking spoke, "You mock me, child."

Zaya's countenance was cold, she wasn't too surprised. The Viking was several meters away, yet he had heard the little conversation she had with Ashara.

Zaya launched forward, her claws sharpened, as she wished to scatter the Viking at her front into a million pieces. The Viking raised his hammer up, it lit in fire, growing larger than twice an average human's head.

They clashed, Zaya immediately aiming for a powerful punch from the right, the Viking tilted, moving to the back in a slight bit. Taking the opportunity to use his hammer to strike Zaya's feet, Zaya jumped her furry legs close to his head. She aimed for a double kick, but he dodged.

They both retreated backwards, Zaya fell into thoughts, this Viking had great dexterity, and at this rate, his hammer skills have been honed to the hilt, he was definitely holding back.

While she had only used the claws, she barely ever trained with. The fate of this battle was decided from the start.

Zaya realized she could only retreat to one assuring move.

Zaya took a stance, the Viking, seeing this, began spinning his hammer relentlessly, as he ran towards her.

Zaya growled hard.

The ground shook in the strength of her growl, sending some rubbles in the city tumbling to the ground. Thunder crackled in the sky, the force of the wind's current grew, straying the flying dragons and Vikings' ships off course.

The Viking's hammer slipped from his hands, hitting his face, as the power of the growl carried him a mile away. The Viking hit the debris hard, rolling on the ground, his black armor broken, his face revealed, his red horns shattered.

One of his eyes opened the other shut, his body was terribly injured, and there was a hole in his chest. Lightning crackled in the sky, as a figure appeared right at his front.

A purple-furred fox, Zaya gave him a heavy punch on his abdominal side, blood spewed from his mouth, some teeth flying out. The Viking began laughing hard.

Zaya hit him harder this time with all of her strength, the fox was startled.

He then yelled, "You should have me!

It's been so long I've forgotten what you creatures look like, You should have told me child that you are a fox!"
