Slowly, the night had come. The sky tinted red, the bloody moon complementing its shade. The Viking's fire creatures rushed out of the transporter, their numbers were so large one could have thought the transporter was creating more by itself.
Nine ships had already landed on the rubbles, while one remained still in the air, seemingly waiting.
There was a trumpet sound; all the fire creatures abruptly stopped in their movements. The tenth Viking ship then landed.
Zaya stared in curiosity as she saw a figure walk out of the transporter, three others following.
He wore an armor that was a thick leather black, grasping a large hammer in his hands; his aura was very familiar. A dragon, this was one of the dragons Chinami had talked about.
On his head was an iron hat that had two long red horns at its top. Zaya's eyelids twitched. "Was this him?" she asked herself. "The viper viking?"
As his feet dropped on the city's ground, he motioned his hammer forward, signifying for the troops of fire beasts to attack.
Zaya stared in horror as each of the fire beasts lit up in flames the presence of a higher power had given them some strange power, they began running towards them.
Seeing this, Zaya knew it was time to act, the commanders quickly gathered at where she stood.
"June, create an earthquake in their midst, dismantle their forces," she ordered.
"Ashara, Natasha, and Zoey, you lead the battle on the front line along with the commanders.
While Korin and I will battle the Viking and his three other subordinates."
As the fire creatures got closer to the armies of veterans, a white glowing mist appeared in the middle of both forces.
Pauline came out from it, shocked looks plastered on the faces of the veteran army along with Zaya and the others.
She was covered in a thick golden armor, her eyes blazing with energy as she rose a few feet upwards she then stretched her hands forward as she yelled, "Attack!"
In response, a loud and wide beam of energy broke out from the bloody night sky, landing directly on all of the ten space ships and the unlucky red blazing beasts that were still in it.
After the strike, Pauline then turned around; her golden armor glowed, radiating energy.
"Zaya!" she yelled. "You're not meant to be here. A look of worry fixed on her face.
She then screamed, "You all have your orders now, attack!"
Seeing the momentum Pauline had given the veterans, Zaya raised her hands forward.
The troops launched forward Pauline vanished from where she stood, appearing right beside Zaya as the others rushed towards the flaming fire creatures, while two of them stood in their midst.
"Pauline, how did you...?"
"I breached the matrix," answered Pauline, her eyes beaming with energy.
"You're not meant to be in this war."
"I know, but I have to battle the Viking," Zaya explained.
"That is exactly what you're not meant to be doing.
Come with me to the Sanctuary," said Pauline, grabbing hold of Zaya as both of them immediately vanished from the war scene in a shroud of white energy.
They appeared in the midst of the civilians.
Zaya transformed back to her regular form as she spoke, smiling, "The sanctuary made it."
"No It didn't," replied Pauline as they began walking.
"What do you mean?" asked Zaya.
"We were attacked by the Vikings, fortunately, the sanctuary was also made to shoot beams.
I had to open a portal to transport it all the way towards here."
Zaya shook her head in disbelief. "Are you saying...?" Yes, I am, we are right under the Viking war," answered Pauline. "I must stay, I have to help."
"I know," Pauline replied, "but remember, we are all fighting this war because of your safety.
You have to go now don't worry, we all promise to stay safe."
Pauline then took Zaya towards where the control room was.
Zaya was surprised when the alpha commander gave her a warm hug saying "Great job, Zaya." Zaya saluted, "Yes, alpha commander."
"Before you went, we wanted you to meet your parents," Zaya walked out of the rooms towards the civilian section, she found her parents, gracing them with her presence.
Naya and Dan ran towards Zaya, filled with joy.
Zaya felt relieved, she hadn't seen her parents since the war had started, not that she didn't want to, but the fear of losing them made her keep them at arm's length.
"Zaya, where have you been?
You got me worried," Naya said, giving her daughter a hug.
Dan joined in, "I'm sorry, Mum," Zaya said, "but I didn't want to put you in danger at all."
"Don't say that, Zaya," Naya said, "We'll always be here for you."
After they spoke for a few more minutes, it was time for Zaya to leave the city.
She went towards where Pauline had stood her parents waving her goodbye. Pauline then opened a portal with her mind. The portal brimmed with intense energy, Zaya could see on the other side was the wilderness.
Ze've got a lot to talk about really," Zaya said amazed at how Pauline had just created a rift through space forming a portal.
"Yes, will do, Pauline said, Zaya got closer to the portal she hesitated.
"What's wrong, Zaya?" Pauline asked. "It's nothing, I am just feeling like a big-time coward."
"You're not a coward, remember, the Vikings are here to kill you.
It's time you must go but no worries, alright?"
"Alright, Pauline, I'll stop worrying said Zaya where are you sending me?"
"The meridian island, not too far away from the phantom city.
If if we need your help, you'll see my sign," Pauline smiled.
"Now, you're talking," Zaya said as she jumped through the portal, the portal seemed to have pulled her to the other side.
As she hit the ground hard on the other head, rolling and hitting the bark of a tree, Zaya smiled as she sighed, "It's been a long day."
She was worried about the rest, hoping they'll be fine.
She then sat close to one of the bushes beside the trees and began thinking, "Why would the viper viking send an army of five dragons just to kill one fox?
He could have killed her since birth, but why didn't he?"
Zaya kept on thinking, she then remembered what the staff had told her earlier about getting her memories back.
She stared at her two hands and looked up to the sky as she sighed deeper.
For her, everything was confusing. Why couldn't the Viking clan defeat the fox clan after all these centuries?
She asked herself.
It was definitely something that should have been easy after Edeth had fallen, but yet still, they seemed to be cautious, taking every step with dexterity.
BANG!!!
There was a loud noise. Zaya, in her human form, could hear it from the meridian island, she stood up, transforming to her fox form as she climbed up a tree.
From the top of the tree, she could see the city from far away. There were continuous beams shot in the sky and over three dragons hovering in the area.
Other Viking ships have arrived as they had been attacking the sanctuary continuously, the sanctuary had begun to crash, falling from the sky with just one booster holding it up; the others were destroyed.
The fire wisps that were in the war on the ground rose to the sky, flying towards the sanctuary, aiming to bring it down to the ground. The wisps swarmed the area as they began attacking the jet booster.
Zaya could only watch, horrified, as she couldn't do anything from where she was, she was too far away from the city.
