Chapter 35 - An absolute presence

Pauline set various tents in the safest parts of the island appointing the oldest among the members of each family to oversee each camp.

She continuously killed dozens of wild animals to ensure their safety.

It took less physical effort for her, she would barely moved her hands and snap!

Heads rolled.

After a while of killing animals without mercy, she flew towards where the surviving veterans had camped. They cheered her name loudly as she entered the huge tent.

She had given them a large part of the food and drinks that was preserved for emergencies in the sanctuary.

She approached one of the commanders, the commander gave the report of the situation of the camp.

Listening, she abruptly turned her head to the left, the commander stared at Pauline in curiosity as she seemingly gazed at the wall of the tent.

Pauline vanished from where she stood appearing at the sea shore, she stared far ahead towards the calm oceans.

She sensed it, something powerful was coming, from far away, she could feel the distress signals her primordial senses was sending her.

Pauline's gaze well still fixed on the oceans, high waves began rising, crashing against each other, the tides grew larger, momentum building from the oceans.

Pauline shook in fear, she could feel that whoever was coming was no ordinary creature. Such power matched that of an ancient titan who had come to end the Viking war for good. She raised her hands upward creating a shield barrier to protect the island and herself included.

Korin held his hands against his bleeding chest, his eyes closed as the trace of a wry smile could be seen gracing his face. He was now Korin champion of the tournament of thousands, slayer of dragons.

Slowly giving onto death he heard something,

"are you alright?" A female voice asked, Korin opened his eyes.

Zoey stood directly beside were he laid, everything will be alright, Mother is coming and you'll be fixed in no time.

Another girl knelt beside Korin, supporting his chest wound, she then spoke, considering your strength Korin this should hold for a while.

It was June she had changed back to her human form, bandaging Korin's wounds, will he be alright doc?

Asked Natasha, absolutely aware that June wasn't a doctor.

"No need," Korin spoke facing Natasha, Natasha fazed, twirled her hair. I'm going to worry she muttered, pity apparent in her demeanor.

We need to get him out of here, he's losing a lot of blood said Pauline, another girl with a bright crimson eye spoke, he is human how can he still survive for so long?

Korin coughed, his consciousness betraying him.

Zaya jumped from the remains of one of the Viking ships she'd just destroyed.

Carrying Ashara at her back as she landed in the midst of the battle, she dropped the half breed cat.

We have to get there quickly, said Zaya, Korin must not fall in this battle.

Ashara nodded her head, her face reflecting her nervousness. They got closer towards where Korin was laid, destroying all the fire creatures in their paths.

Zaya could see Korin far away, on the ground a few others surrounding him. She stopped in her tracks, about to take a high leap.

Unexpectedly, a powerful hit landed directly on her back, she tripped, hitting the ground hard.

Zaya could sense her attacker was about to launch another hit. She dodged the lunging hit, tilting to the side, she then stood glaring at her enemie.

It was the spiky Viking, his blazing hammer held tightly in his hands, Zaya was astonished as she had thought the Viking had been killed by the snakes earlier.

The Viking then spoke,"Suprised are you not?"

"Not really" answered Zaya. "I am the fifth most powerful Viking of the dragon clan, I cannot be killed."

"Are you?" asked Ashara as she sliced the Viking head with her white energy beaming sword from behind.

A look of disdain spread across the viking's face as part of his head fell towards the ground. Ashara walked towards where Zaya stood, Are you alright Zaya, she asked.

Am fine, responded Zaya, abruptly grabbed both of Ashara's arm pulling her sideways. They both missed the blazing hammer by a hair's breath.

Zaya stretched her hands upwards, calling for the golden staff. While Ashara held her sword tightly glaring at the Viking who had somehow gotten his head back to his neck in a matter of seconds.

They both lunged forward, Zaya stretched the edge of her staff towards him, shooting a dangerous energy beam out of it. The Viking immediately raised his hammer up parrying the strike of the beam.

He was pushed aback a little, attacked once again by the two half breeds. He defended himself, dodging the attacks at the fastest speed he could gather.

The Viking changed his fighting movements becoming extremely reckless, he wanted to end the battle quickly.

He created an opening for Ashara, Ashara seeing this opportunity dived deep into the Viking's flesh.

The spiky Viking, correspondingly hit the hammer on Ashara's head, she could not dodge in time, the primordial cat hit the ground falling unconscious.

The Viking retreated to the back a bit, just as he had expected, Zaya was in rage and a mix of worry as she stared at her friend.

The Viking did not hesitate as he immediately removed an enchanted dagger from his repertoire, tossing it. The dagger became invisible, making Zaya unable to shield herself from it even in her fox form.

It dug straight through Zaya's heart, simultaneously knocking the golden staff off her hands.

Zaya coughed, blood spewing from her mouth. The Viking gave her a wild kick, more blood rushed from Zaya's mouth as she was thrown a few feet away. He then called for his hammer as he immediately broke the golden staff into pieces, Zaya's face went blank.

Coughing more blood, she looked up to the sky as more viking ships had begun emerging, she should have stayed up there she thought to herself.

Her sight began to blur, she could see the spiky Viking had began walking away from her position, Zaya tried not to lose her consciousness recirculating primordial energy all around her body continuously. There was a burst of energy enough for her to seat up on the raggered ground.

That's when she felt it, coming far away from the sea, that absolute presence that's what gave her the energy she needed.

Someone was coming from far beyond the sea, Zaya fell into realization this was the other fox the alpha commander had spoken of.

From the sky from all the viking ships in the sky changed their course and began firing at tge oceans.

Hundreds of beams which grew fiercer attacked the oceans, the fire creatures immediately panicked, including the half breed snakes.

They all stopped fighting and took to their heels, retreating from the battle ground at immeasurable speed.
