A week had passed since my lawyer brought the divorce papers and informed me of Serena's decision.
The past few days have been a lot for me. I mentally marked off this week as one of the longest weeks of my life.
It felt like one long stretch of time where everything blended together. Work, meetings, paperwork, and the gym.
I was always up and about—moving from one place to the other trying to keep up with the divorce proceedings. Serena had refused to show up during the stipulated days for our appearance.
Her legal representatives claimed that she had fallen ill but I knew it wasn't the reason why.
It was both relief and torture for me. A part of me missed her so fucking much that I wasn't sure how strong my resolve was anymore.
Another part of me was grateful that she saved us both the pain and torture.
I threw myself into work because it was easier than sitting alone in that house. I stayed up late every night.
