Tonia's POV
When he turned to leave, I took off in a pursuit.
"Wait! Fine, let's talk about this."
But he maintained his relentless pace, refusing to acknowledge my presence with even the slightest glance.
Damn him. His threats were already unraveling my composure completely.
"Okay, I apologize. Are you satisfied? I was furious about what happened with that man from the club. And frustrated that I couldn't break free from this contract. I felt deceived and manipulated. I'm sorry for my reaction."
Still, he showed no sign of hearing my words. The man was absolutely immovable, like carved stone.
When he reached the hall's entrance, he disappeared inside without offering me so much as a backward look. In that crushing moment, I realized I was completely at his mercy.
The remainder of the funeral became an unbearable ordeal.
I couldn't focus on anything except wishing for it to end so I could retreat to my hotel room.
