I spent the entire night watching the digital clock on the nightstand, counting down each minute until sunrise would finally arrive. Sleep felt impossible with everything that had happened, and all I wanted was to escape this suffocating situation as quickly as possible.
When the first rays of morning light filtered through the heavy curtains, I expected to quietly slip away without any fanfare. Instead, I discovered an elaborate breakfast spread waiting for me in the sitting area, along with a pristine dress laid out on the chair and a medical professional preparing to examine my injuries.
The thought that Kermit had personally arranged all of this seemed impossible to accept. This level of consideration felt completely out of character for someone who had shown me nothing but cold indifference since our paths had crossed.
