Tonia's POV
No. Absolutely not.
He could strip away everything else from my life. But not this necklace.
The scanned photograph had been my first precious possession. This locket was my second. I couldn't bear to be separated from it even for a moment.
I lunged forward to reclaim it, but he jerked his hand back.
"Please, return it to me." My voice trembled uncontrollably.
His eyes studied the locket with what looked like fascination. His thumb traced over the surface, and I felt my world threatening to collapse.
"This should work perfectly," he decided with a nod. "Sleep well, Tonia."
He pivoted and walked away.
No. This couldn't be happening.
"You have to give it back. You can't just steal it from me." I chased after him.
Hot tears spilled down my face. Damn it all.
He maintained his stride until he reached the parking area.
Ryder and Maximus were waiting beside their vehicle, the rear door already open.
