Chapter 25 - A Blade in The Dark

Si-Hun jumped over the counter with his arm still in the cashier's grip.

He grabbed the cashier's hand with his other hand and loosened his grip just enough to let go.

He pushed the cashier, who hit the wall with a thud.

The man growled, and slowly his features turned into something inhuman and scary.

His teeth grew longer and sharper.

Si-Hun immediately noticed it; his eyes turned dark.

The man took out a small dagger from his pocket and looked at Si-Hun.

Si-Hun also looked at him and smirked.

"You want to take me down using that cheap dagger?" He said, mocking.

"We'll see." The man said while lunging at Si-Hun.

Si-Hun dunked just in time and dodged it in one smooth move.

The man looks behind him and growls when he sees Si-Hun standing there, completely unbothered.

"Bring me something that actually requires skill," Si-Hun said, pouting a little.

The man's expression turns angry, and he strikes his dagger, making a sharp and long cut on Si-Hun's chest, tearing his shirt apart.

Si-Hun looks at the flowing blood that stains his white shirt.

The man wipes his forehead, breathing hard, and smiles, proud of his work.

Si-Hun doesn't say anything for a few seconds, but he suddenly lunges at the man without giving him a warning and snatches his dagger from his hand.

The man gasped and looked at Si-Hun, who was smirking devilishly across the counter.

He screams and charges at Si-Hun and grabs him by the collar.

Si-Hun raises his eyebrows.

"You got guts, hmm."

"F*ck you."

"No swearing for you." Saying this, he lands a spin kick at the man's head and knocks him down.

The man hit the counter and spat some blood while coughing.

Si-Hun swings the dagger in his hand and smirks.

"You already stained my white shirt. You deserve something worse."

"How are you so strong?" The man says, looking at him.

"You wouldn't wanna know." Si-Hun comes up to him and places the dagger's nib at the man's chin, lifting his head to meet his eyes.

The man hatefully looks at him and flares his nostrils, helpless.

"You gave me a real challenge, but unfortunately, you're a terrible matchup."

With that, Si-Hun slices the man's head off, which falls off with a thud.

Si-Hun stands straight, seeing the man's body fade away like ashes, while his clothes fall off on the ground.

"Another disguise… just like Eravus warned."

He sighs and looks at his red, blood-stained shirt.

"You ruined my shirt, bastard."

He sees the mess on the floor and looks here and there to spot if there's a camera, but luckily, the camera wasn't facing his way, just a little tilted to the other side.

He was relieved, but the mess needed to be cleaned.

Si-Hun wonders if the real cashier is alive,

He takes the man's cap from the floor and picks it up.

He wears it low so no one can see him going to the back of the store.

He glances at the camera and quietly goes to the back.

He searched for the cashier cause he knew that he wasn't dead.

He searches everywhere, but he doesn't find him.

At last, he opens the washroom.

There, he sees the cashier tied up on the floor, sulking.

His mouth was taped, and his whole body was tied with ropes.

Si-Hun bends down near his head.

The man was conscious and looked at Si-Hun, his eyes fearful.

Out of fear, he starts vigorously, thinking Si-Hun was involved with the man who did this to him.

"Stop kicking! I am not with that bastard out there!"

The man looks at him for a few seconds and finally calms down a bit.

Si-Hun unties him and removes the tape from his mouth.

The man gasps for air, his chest rising rapidly.

Si-Hun stands up and extends his hand to help him up.

The man takes it and gets up.

"That man, I scared him by threatening to call the police. He left and got a beating he deserved."

"T-thank you so much! He threatened me with a knife. I-I didn't know what to do. He kicked me in the stomach, took me down, and tied me up. I am very thankful that you saved me! Thank you, mister."

"You're good, but…clean this mess on the floor. He stabbed me with his knife, and the blood got here."

The man looked at Si-Hun's bloody shirt and the huge cut on his chest.

"O-oh, mister, you're seriously hurt! If you want, I can take you to the hospital."

"No, I'm fine. You just do what I asked you to."

"O-okay. Stay safe and get your wound treated!"

"Thanks. I'm off."

Just then, he remembered his drink.

He took it from the counter and handed the cashier the money.

The cashier refused to take the money.

"No, sir! You helped me big time. This is the least a poor man like me can do!"

"Just take it, don't waste my time."

The cashier hesitated, but agreed.

"Take care, sir! Bye!"

Si-Hun waved a lazy goodbye and left the store.

His wounds hurt, but he didn't want to go to the hospital right now.

He thought about the recovery potion, but the problem was that he got the potion in limited supply.

"Ahhh! I can't even use the recovery potion, and I don't have the money to waste on such expensive hospital bills!"

He said, sulking.

Kuro wasn't with him right now.

He wanted to go to the park for a small walk.

He left him in the apartment, saying he needed time alone.

The park was still lit with lights, but there were only a few people there.

He headed to the bench he always sat on, but this time...

A girl sat on the bench, her head slightly lowered, strands of her hair catching the streetlight.

A faint breeze carried the scent of rain and something faintly floral. For a moment, Si-Hun just stood still, his steps slowing without realizing it.

She had something in her hands that she was eating, looking as if lost in thought. There was something about her calmness that felt…different. Something he hadn't felt in a long time.

"Who's that?" he murmured under his breath, watching her quietly from afar.
