Chapter 1 - What A Time To Die

"Urgh, what do I do?"

The boy stared at his barely visible reflection in the monitor.

He could see the dark eye bags under his eyes. He needed sleep, desperately.

But what could he do? This character had him up for nights.

Suddenly, he heard the door open from behind in the dark room, startling him.

Switch.

Light invaded his eyes as he heard the horrified gasp of a woman in his room.

"Oh my god..what's this??" She asked, looking around.

"Can't you see?" The man answered back as he adjusted his eyes, standing up.

"People would jump off a bridge if they saw the "Youngest Self Made Millionaire Yuito" like this." The woman, who was holding some files, remarked.

"Well, be thankful it's you then." Yuito replied to the woman, most likely his assistant.

At the same time, he couldn't blame her.

Why would a young 23 year old millionaire be buried in a messy dark room in front of a screen with hundred empty ramen bowls and scrambled books all around.

This wasn't how the society outside imagined him.

But who cares? He often did this under the excuse of "locking-in" for his game.

Even though he need not to, he sometimes liked to review and tweak things in it.

Make improvements and amends.

"Are you done with it yet?" The assistant asked, picking up a bowl of ramen.

"No, he's a complex character." Yuito yawned, stretching his arms.

"Just remove him at this point, you've been at him for days."

Slide.

Yuito opened up the door to his balcony, stepping out into the fresh air.

"I can't, Myla." He answered after being silent for some seconds.

He was Yuito Kawasaki, one of the youngest billionaires at 23.

The creator of the globally popular MMORPG , and also the founder of the Game Company, Blackstar Games.

Of course he had pressure on him as well, but he just couldn't.

He heard a sigh from Myla, who just focused on cleaning his stuff now.

Yuito couldn't blame her. At this point, if it had been anyone else beside her, they'd think he had gone psycho.

After all, who in their right minds would put a whole game's servers on pause for the maintenance of a single character.

But that wasn't even the craziest part. It had been a whole week since the servers had been put on hold.

It even resulted in a lot of financial loss and backlash to his company.

Unfortunately for the company, he didn't care as well. He had just been holed into this room since the day it started.

He even refused the help of anyone else with the character, not even telling them their name.

The whole company was just relying on Myla to put some sense into him, and give it up at this point.

Fortunately, Myla knew him well, being there with him from the start of it all. She knew he wasn't going to stop at any rate.

But even she was intrigued on what character it was, that it had the genius Yuito at such a block.

However, it was clear that the young man wasn't going to reveal it.

Leaning over the balcony, Yuito could see the whole city of Hiroshima stretching out.

The early light of dawn entered his eyes right through the clouds. People would be getting ready for work by now.

He could see the kids walking to school and the rattling of cars from down below.

"It's a good day. Let's hope to some good luck as well," he mumbled, out into the wind.

Whirrrr..

The whirring sound of a plane above him caught his attention, looking straight above.

It was slowly parting through the clouds, just like a normal aircraft. But then suddenly, Yuito saw something fall out.

Like a small dot.

Did a screw fall out or something?

"No, you idiot. A screw wouldn't even be visible." Yuito reprimanded himself as he saw it straight above him.

But then, he saw it's size increase as it fell down, at a crazy rate. Not only that, it was coming straight toward him.

"What the fuck?" Yuito stood up straight, now alarmed.

Unfortunately, it was too late. Suddenly, everything went white for him as a blinding hot flash took over.

It was as if he felt something for one moment and then, nothing.

In the embrace of an everstretching darkness, sounds of muffled knocks were heard.

"Wa- up, Sir Az-ah."

An unclear and glitchy voice was heard a second later.

"Wake up, Sir Azariah."

But then it was repeated, now perfectly clear along with the knocks as well.

'What are these voices?' Yuito wondered, unable to discern what was happening to him.

A minute before he was encompassed in a bright white light and now he was in this darkness.

Before he could settle his senses and think though, the darkness faded away and light entered his eyes.

He was greeted by a spacious white room with tall walls and sufficient lighting that entered through the translucent windows.

The space looked something like his building headquarters but even more futuristic.

"Are you up, Sir Azariah?"

The knocks were now clear from the door far away from him, with the voice coming from behind it.

It seemed to be professional, like that of a male butler or servant. Quite old too.

"Enter." He randomly spoke out of the urge to not hear the knocks again.

Unfortunately, before he realized what happened, the door swung open and a butler walked in.

With greying black hair and a proper moustache, he was properly dressed in a black and white suit.

It was then that Yuito realized what he had done. But it was too late.

He saw the butler's eyes widen at his condition, looking at him sitting on his bed with his loose night clothes.

"What are you doing, Sir Azariah!? Do you have any idea what time it is right now!? We are being late!!" The butler crashed out.

It was as if looking at Yuito had sucked his soul right out of him.

Wait- Not Yuito. What had the guy just called him?

'Aint no way man.'

A creeping sensation crawled at Yuito's back as he got out of his bedsheets, ignoring the butler's rants.

Instantly, he felt the weird sensation in his body. It wasn't his. It was thinner..and taller.

'Please don't let this be true.'

Walking over to the windows, Yuito stared at his reflection in them.

Pale white hair that fell to his shoulders and frozen blue eyes that resembled the color of a clear sea.

Clear white skin without any sort of marks and a build that could be considered weak physically.

"Are we being real right now?" Yuito's mouth sprung open as he stared at himself.

Turning, he saw the butler still walking across the room, talking his nonsense.

Yuito, or seemingly Azariah now, stared at the butler with a deadpan look.

The butler, finally catching on to Azariah's look, now fell silent.

"What? Are you not getting what I'm saying, Sir?"

Azariah sighed, resisting the urge to slap his forehead.

"Out of all the characters, why did it have to be THIS GUY!??"
