In the middle of a bustling city filled with couples chatting happily, pet owners playing with their furry companions, and students heading home after school, a man with blonde hair sat quietly on a bench beneath a tree. He gazed up at the sky with a calm yet distant look, as if searching for something important hidden beyond the clouds.
'So you're my golden finger, huh?' Adam thought, his mind sounding as if he were speaking to someone.
[Yes, Mr. Adam! I'm your most-awaited golden finger! My name is Rosy, the consciousness integrated by ROB to replace the one inside 0-08!]
Hearing that, Adam could only sigh. After seven long years of idling around, trying to understand which world he had been transmigrated into, his "golden finger" had finally arrived.
He had once despaired when he realized he was in the world of Honkai Impact 3rd. Sure, he was relieved it wasn't Lord of Mysteries where he'd likely die just for knowing too much, but Honkai was still far from a peaceful world.
At least it wasn't GGZ, that cursed world where humanity was little more than playthings for higher entities. Nor was it Warhammer; he didn't know much about that one, but everyone agreed it was pure suffering to be reborn there.
Still, Honkai Impact 3rd wasn't exactly paradise. Compared to other worlds ROB could've sent him to, it was a high-risk zone. DxD? He could've just moved to another country far from the plot. One Piece? Fairly safe, as long as you stayed away from pirates. Even Bleach offered a decent chance at a normal life if you weren't tied to the supernatural side.
'If this is like any transmigration story I've read, shouldn't I have some kind of starter loot or whatever it's called?' Adam asked, deciding to refer to the system as "her," since Rosy's voice sounded like a cheerful little girl.
[Of course there is one! Here's your starter pack! Open it to see what gifts ROB prepared for you!]
Her excited tone almost made it sound like she was more eager to see the results than he was. Chuckling softly, Adam checked his wristwatch.
'Let's wait until I get home,' he muttered. 'If I jump around from excitement, I'd rather do it in private.'
It took him about half an hour to reach his small apartment. Once inside, he sat down and spoke again.
'Alright, Rosy. Open it.'
[Congratulations, Host! You have received the following gifts from my creator, §€π¢÷:]
• Sealed Artifact 0-08: The Quill of Alzuhood
The sealed artifact has been enhanced by §€π¢÷, extending its range to a worldwide scale.
• Visionary Uniqueness
Watered down by §€π¢÷ to maintain balance within the Honkai world.
• Enhanced Intelligence
Your cognitive abilities have been buffed by §€π¢÷, making your intellect comparable to the Infinity of the Flame-Chasers and Dr. MEI of the Previous Era. The name "Adam" will be remembered throughout history.
• Herrscher-level Honkai Resistance
§€π¢÷ noticed your resistance was worse than that of a pig (0.001). This gift boosts it to Herrscher-level durability.
[Once again, congratulations, Host! These are the blessings of my creator, §€π¢÷!]
Adam couldn't help but smile. "ROB sure knows what to give me," he thought. For the first time in seven years, he truly felt what it meant to be elated.
"Oh hey, Rosy, I have a question," Adam said as he summoned the Quill of Alzuhood. The ornate pen materialized in his hand, glinting faintly under the room's light. It looked exactly like the one from the original story, elegant, mysterious, and brimming with quiet power.
[Ask anything, Host Adam! I'll answer whatever I can!]
"How many more years until the main plot starts? I can't really remember much about Honkai Impact 3rd. I've only read some fanfics, not the actual game."
He twirled the quill between his fingers, leaning forward slightly, waiting for Rosy's reply.
[Hmm… If I'm reading your memories correctly, Host, the main story should begin in about a week at most.]
Adam frowned. Even after receiving the powerful gifts from ROB, caution still ran deep within him. Not because he doubted his survival, but because he wanted to be part of the main story this time. Curiosity was pushing him to dive in, not hide away.
"Tch… so it's almost time for the Third Honkai Eruption," he muttered, glancing out the window at the peaceful city below. People walked, laughed, and lived, unaware of the chaos destined to tear their world apart.
"All these peaceful days… they're just the calm before the storm, the beginning of the third disaster this era will face."
For the first time since his transmigration, Adam felt the weight of choice on his shoulders. The story was now his to control, to twist, reshape, and guide. The main plot would still move forward, but he'd make sure some of those fated to die… would live.
For him, that was the most reasonable development of all.
