The driver took me straight to the Silverlight Hotel entrance.
I still wanted to go home, but I didn't dare go against Soren.
While Soren had somehow managed to handle my mother's interference, the whole situation felt suspicious. There had to be a catch somewhere.
Not only had he overlooked my using him as a shield against my mother, but he had also gone through the trouble of meeting the woman personally.
Nothing in life came without strings attached, especially not from someone like Soren. Free favors typically carried the steepest price tags of all.
Walking through the hotel lobby, I nearly collided with Lorena. The woman looked impeccable in her tailored black business suit, every inch the professional hotel executive. Her expression remained serious, her posture perfect, without even a hint of warmth in her demeanor.
Since Lorena's return from overseas, her mother had transferred management of the entire Silverlight Hotel chain into her capable hands.
